Summary

Dazai was… complicated. He wasn’t someone who wanted in a simple way. Want, for him, was a thing that came with hooks and history and a thousand reasons to flinch. Sometimes he did want. Sometimes he wanted with an intensity that made Chuuya’s hands shake, because it wasn’t casual. It wasn’t a distraction. It was Dazai letting him in.
And sometimes Dazai didn’t want anything at all, and the difference was subtle—so subtle that in the beginning Chuuya had missed it and hated himself for it afterward.
or: Chuuya learns Dazai in the ways that matter—when to pull, when to hold, when to let him drift—and Dazai, in return, keeps choosing him. Some nights it’s heat, some nights it’s just staying. Either way, it’s still them.

Summary
Castiel's death hits Dean with a finality that leaves him drowning. Drowning in grief, in regret, in self-loathing, in heartbreak, in liquor. So when he stumbles across Lilly Sunder's notes on angels and, subsequently, a passage mentioning a gate to opening the Empty, he is determined to get Cas back.
No matter the cost.
Three weeks after Cas' return from the Empty, he is slowly healing from what the spell to retrieve him took. Three weeks after Cas' return, omens of angels and demons are scattered around the country. Three weeks after Cas' return, the Empty is bleeding.
Dean swore he would get Cas back no matter the cost. And he has, at the cost of endangering the balance of life and the afterlives. Dean has learned from dying and being the one left behind that it is easy to die for someone, but it is much harder to face the costs of surviving alongside them.
Even so, this time, Dean will not watch Cas die. And Cas has not and will not ever allow the same.

Summary
It's months after Castiel was rescued from The Empty, months after Chuck was defeated and a new order installed in Heaven, and months without any sign of a monster or need for a monster-hunter. Dean is trying to figure out where he fits in the new, monster-free world. What better to do than to take a two-week vacation with Cas on the New Jersey shore. They eat new foods, make new friends, Cas talks to dolphins, and Dean starts figuring out what he wants to do with his life. The most important thing about this new life is sharing it with Cas.

Dean's got no complaints. He's got a really cool job. He's married to a fucking amazing guy, even if Cas is an accountant. He and Cas have got a mortgage and a two-car garage, big enough for even Baby to rest her skirts. He's livin' the dream.
Too bad it's all based on one really big lie.
'Cause Dean's name isn't really Smith. He's not really a firefighter or a paramedic. He's the last thing from a hero, in fact.
And contract killers make enemies.

Summary
He watches Sam’s finger point to the written words, “Dean still hardly talks,”.
A few beats of silence pass—nothing out of the ordinary, at this point.
“...Is this what’s happening?” Sam asks gently, implementing that tone of voice that always seems to remind Dean with a heart clenched in nostalgia that his brother is not a little boy anymore, but rather is now a grown man with an impressive emotional maturity.
(TLDR: Dean Winchester and selective mutism: told throughout different stages of his life now that it has come back in full-force yet again after losing Cas to the Empty. Angst, hurt/comfort, and most importantly: happy ending.)
