A very recently transplanted and still pretty pissed about it New Yorker and mean girl-esque Steve(n) Harrington had thought that he had pinned down everything that he had hated about being forced to move to Hawkins, Indiana with his younger step-sister Max(ine) roughly two weeks ago.
It turned out that he was dead wrong about it and what his new boarding school free lifestyle would have in it.
No, no, no, there was freaking countless amounts of demons (realistically six to twenty-five of the flower faced freaks of nature), opportunities to annoy and aggravate Max (which actually didn’t have a limit to it), one or two tasteful words that mildly expressed his displeasure with the situation in general (ten to fifty-fucking-thousand swear words), three amazing women (Robin Buckley, Heather Holloway and Chrissy Cunningham), and well…
Two different guys who both seemed to like Steve as much as he liked them.
At least Eddie Munson and Billy Hargrove seemed fully on board with his occasional little pyromaniac murderous moments in the Byers’ driveway.

Summary
Booker and everybody else were cursed in a very big way and bound to quite a few things. Bound to die at twenty-five years old. Bound to be in a zombified state of how they first died that kept their bodies mutating over the years.
Bound to never speak out loud again, which also tied into the way that they were bound to know the worst things that would befall humanity and who was doomed to join them next.
That’s why when the opportunity crops up to try and make a five year old Nile Freeman’s life as normal and happy as it could be, they take it, even if means at least twenty years of doing anything she needs and running to the grocery store when her mom or dad needs another jug of milk or whatever they need for the new Jewish or Halal recipes they’re very sweetly trying to make.
Booker can just sit on any fucking mystical connection he may or may not feel with Nile the older and older she gets and shut the hell up, because he’s also fully on board with trying to ensure Nile eventually dies a peaceful death caused by old age.
It’s a pity she doesn’t really go along with it once she connects the dots.

Summary
Don’t get him wrong, Booker knew that life wasn’t usually excessively magical or coming all that close to being a fairy tale most of the time.
He was still grimly fighting a case of back acne, the nearly constant urge to go running back to the almost irresistible siren call of alcohol dependency that Joe and Nicky had rightfully broken up with him over years ago, and he had forgotten to get the phone number of the amazing woman that he had gotten to be a service top for and eat out for hours last night.
On the other hand, his life was actually doing pretty good since he had really started committing to therapy, his tits and ass both looked fantastic, his enormous extended family was doing great, Nicky and Joe had both been looking at him with softer and softer approving eyes lately and had never fully kicked him out of their friendship or their kitchen and holy fucking shit, that was her and apparently Nicky and Joe both knew her!

Summary
Things related to the Upside Down would've been a bit different if things had gone down way before the nineteen-eighties. Think a solid century before that in the Victorian era. Or; Dustin still has bad ideas every once in a while, Steve would still be a babysitter that was protective and foul mouthed in equal parts and best friends with Robin Buckley, and Mews the cat would get her redemption and not be eaten. Seriously, she gets so many cheek rubs and pats off screen in this when the adrenaline eventually wears off for everybody.

Summary
The things that everybody filled their Sundays with fell into three roughly shaped categories ever since they had all gleefully decided that falling in love with each other seemed a great idea in Booker’s recent experience.
There was lazily lounging around whichever safehouse they all happened to be packed into and doing whatever cooking, cleaning, or personal or assisted grooming or styling seemed like it should be done.
Another way was filled with sweetly wicked and very enthusiastic sexual debauchery and possible exploration of some fetishes that were well worn or new and intriguing.
The third way usually tended to be filled with gunfire and grumpily scrubbing the dried blood out of each other’s pores with their fingernails and squinting through the occasional accidental splash of shampoo water in an attempt to figure out if it was spots of ingrown hair or zits on each other’s backs.
This particular Sunday was filled to the brim with the first two categories, and Booker really hoped that the third one didn’t come up today, because it would take forever to scrub all the semen and lube off and he wasn’t done trying to eat out everybody yet.

Summary
Darcy wasn’t going to lie, she hadn’t exactly seen the reveal of her workplace being more or less being stuffed to the gills with shitty fucking Nazis coming, and neither had her girlfriend Antonia, which was a bit of a comfort. Not too much comfort, though, because of you know, Nazis, and the fact that those assholes somehow managed to evade the notice of all of the truly terrifying women in her life and Steve Roger’s narrow white ass.
Anyway, there wasn’t really any time for her to do much more than righteously froth at the mouth internally, because she and Antonia were going to have to stand guard over a gravely injured Captain America and Black Widow and throw a brief and very well meant monkey wrench into Barnes and Starr’s plan for them.

Smashing an apparently endless supply of fascists and white supremacists in the face with the shield. Discovering how many different cultures and cookbooks there were in the world.
Being a wingman to his and Bucky’s group of friends when they went out clubbing and nodding sympathetically at Yelena’s yearnful noises about the cute blue-eyed brunette socialite who lived on the floor above her apartment. Cheerfully bickering with Bucky about the proper way of folding towels and loading a dishwasher without any real heat to it.

relativelysoft and submissive for Bucky whenever he felt like dominating Steve a little and pampering him in nearly every sexual way that Buck could come up with wasn’t complicated at all, and whatever fun new mysterious sex toy he was acting all excited and frisky about promised joy-filled pleasure and nothing else.It was a very good life.

Okay, look, Booker wasn’t going to go around and say that most, if not all of the Hanukkahs that had passed during the long stretch of time since he had been forced to temporarily kick the oxygen habit for the first time had been anything but heartbroken or emotionally lonesome affairs for him.
It was the polar opposite of it this time around.
This Hanukkah was full of the comforting smell of Lykon and Joe’s pharmacy worth of luxurious hair care products, Nicky being the snuggliest overgrown Italian tomcat in existence, great food and even better company, and getting to spend some quality time with Yitzhak in their shockingly cozy cabin while he got an eyeful of their more fashionable and less socially paralyzed side.
Booker wouldn’t trade this for anything, and he didn’t think that Yitzhak would either.

Nicky and Joe are the first people to jump on board with looking for Booker despite the way that they both had nearly two hundred years of very painful romantic yearning built up for Lykon, because they’d never want to get between Lykon and his
boyfriend.Everybody needed another miscommunication or incorrect assumption like they needed another hole in their head, but that never seemed to slow motherfucking Destiny down any as their lives and relationships started to mix together in new and unexpected ways.

Okay, it wasn’t like Nile had spent her whole damn life obsessing over who she was planning on kissing for the first time or possibly giving part of her long held virginity to. She thought about it like a…normal amount. You know, the normal amount for a previously very religious and painfully shy person who had died and became a new immortal and was rescued by and brought into the warm clutch of a new group of friendly smoking hot immortals before she had even gotten the chance to so much as kiss anybody.

There is also a Lykon, a Andy, and a Quynh in all of those different universes who think that it’s great that those four are in each other’s lives that way. No, really, it’s wonderful. Nile, Booker, Nicky and Joe are obviously all consenting adults, and they’re clearly having a fantastic time together, but would it really kill the four of them to chip in more on the monthly take out pizza bill and stop hiding bottles of lube everywhere?

Nile likes Booker, and Booker likes Nile. Neither of them are planning to tell each other, and everybody else is done with their moronic thought processes. Joe and Nicky are trying their best to coax them through it with the creeping realization that their own feelings about the two of them might be more complicated than they had first thought.
Of course the Losers and some other people just had to come along and throw a metaphorical car bomb into the process. Some of the side effects from that car bomb are better than others.
