“Something that bothers someone all their life isn’t going to evaporate within a few months. I expected this.”
Floyd cocked his head, leaning against the wall with a grin. “Yeah yeah, but it means we got every excuse to chase after him. Make some demands. Give ‘im what he’s too scaredy-cat to ask for.”
Jade grinned back. “Demands, you say? When he’s so down and out and vulnerable?”
“Yeah. Demand he admits he’s pretty.” Floyd laid his head down on the counter. “Demand he lets us be there with ‘im, especially when he’s down in the dumps.”
It had been awhile since either of them had gotten to be close and intimate with Azul. In retrospect, there had been signs something could be amiss.
“Come on.” Jade gestured at Floyd. “Let’s go have a little improvised negotiation session.”
