This feeling was one of the many reasons why she could not bear to be around her mate. Because Elain knew once she took any sort of interest in knowing Lucien, there was no going back. With Lucien came many truths she would have to face. She would have to come to terms with her ability as a seer. They would have to unravel their complex feelings that clearly made them both feel ill at ease. And she would have to accept that she was no longer human.
More than romance or the mating bond, Elain needed a purpose.
(But don’t worry, there will be romance.)
