Summary
Enid nodded, far too enthusiastically again, drawing another strange look from Wednesday. She sat next to her and pulled her books out, the pen with soft bite marks was laid inside the pages. Enid studied the imprints on the plastic like they had the answers to every question she had ever asked. Wednesday drummed her fingers on the table, drawing Enid’s eye to them. She did this drumming often when she was waiting for something, and now that it was happening so close Enid couldn’t stop watching.
The soft thud thud thud thud of all four of her fingers hitting the wood was hypnotic, and the dexterity of those fingers had Enid in a trance.
“Enid? You’re drooling.”

Summary
“I struggle to imagine what would bring you to my door unannounced.” Wednesday eyes Enid's pale face, her jacket and boots, dripping with snow and mud, and tilts her head to the side in curiosity. “And looking like a newly animated corpse, freshly free of the grave. Did someone attempt to bury you alive in our cemetery?” Wednesday leans forward conspiratorially. “Was it Pugsley?”
Enid’s voice is watery and very small. “I had to walk from the road. The Uber driver refused to come anywhere near your house. He claims it’s haunted.”
“It is.”
Enid swallows, and Wednesday frowns. “Enid. Was it Tyler? Has he escaped?”
“N-no. I-I just…I didn’t have anywhere else to go."
Enid turns up unexpectedly at the Addams Family Mansion over winter break.

“I told my parents that I’m in a relationship,” Wednesday says, offhand, like it’s just another sentence and not a lightning strike to Enid’s heart. "With you, specifically."

Summary
The Dolorosa is glad not to be dead if only so she can feel, for the first time, that she's alive. Alive to suffer and alive to smile; alive to do everything she'd always dreamed she would when they sealed her underground at 18 to await her death and all the things she said goodbye to with the loss of her child.
Alternately, after spending a lifetime tending to others, it's hard to remember what self-preservation feels like. Especially when there's a pirate ship in need of cleaning. But it's a little easier when you think of the fact that the pirate in question is seriously into you.

Summary
Set post hug, not ignoring their respective injuries and traumas. Wednesday tries to pretend she isn't hurt to look after Enid but doesn't quite manage. They both have a lot to work through, realising they need and care for each other a lot more than initially anticipated, navigating complicated feelings along the way.

This time it can’t be mistaken. A singular droplet falls from Wednesday’s eyelid, caught by the back of her hand. The pair watch in equal shock, eyes following her hand as it lowers back to her side. She clears her throat and turns back to face the way they were walking.
“You are injured and clearly in severe pain. As appealing as that may be, I cannot see that being something that you may enjoy. You were struggling to walk, I was simply assisting.”
