    But glories came and went, as did opinions and connections and all the other messy bits of life.

    Such was the way of the Xianzhou, the curse of Long-Life species.

    It didn't mean it made being left behind any easier to bare.

    Or time less heavy to carry on one's long tired shoulders.

    And Aeons, was he tired.

    So very tired.

    But who would have thought stumbling upon a ray of sunshine, a seed blooming in the heart of a desolate battlefield, the weary lion might actually find something worth living for.

She had looked at the water through the railing and her face stared back at her. Neuvi had told her then that if the lake was still enough, it would act like a mirror.

    “Furina, did the storm scare you?”

    There it was. Furina felt her heart sink like a stone. Down, down, down to the bottom of Neuvi’s lake. Hesitantly, she nodded.
