Summary
Maomao is an alchemist. But all she really does is gather herbs, shells, and pearls to make and sell medicine to fishermen and sailors. Until one day, on the shore, she meets a beautiful youth with a face of a celestial nymph and a silver fish's tail.
They are bound by a mystery that is killing the sea.
The Silver Plague—a disease that devours sea creatures from within, leaving a residue on shells and tails that humans mistake for a valuable ingredient. Jinshi, the crown prince, swims to shore in search of an alchemist who can unravel its secret. Maomao, an apothecary and alchemist, agrees to help—partly out of curiosity, partly because she finds it strangely impossible to walk away from this merman. But the deeper they delve into the mystery, the clearer it becomes: the Silver Plague is no accident. It is a trace.
A trace of something that happened twenty years ago.
