Summary
Four months in, Pete is beginning to realise that fatherhood is hard. Really, really hard. He misses the silence through which he can hear the voices in his head. He misses being alone with Patrick, misses touching him and kissing him all over. Pete misses his old life, last summer when they had no responsibilities. He might even miss last spring, when they lived for the soul purpose of living while they could.
All that said, Pete wouldn't change it for the world.

It's autumn 2002, and for just over a year, Fall Out Boy have been working on making it very clear that Pete and Patrick aren't together. They just aren't. It's what they do. They're PeteAndPatrick, music-making dream team, best friends, confidants, lovers, but they're not together- they're not a couple. The thing is, they have fully accepted their non-couple status, they're completely comfortable with it, and it seems as if nothing can change that. This is, of course, until something does just that. Patrick is pregnant, Pete is self-obsessed, Joe is pissed off, and Andy- poor Andy just wants someone else to take the night shift driving between venues once or twice.

Summary
Patrick's anaemia isn't ideal.
It's hell to deal with on tour, and even with his supplements, it doesn't take much to make him feel sick and dizzy. Pete's great, and he tries to understand, but he's just not there yet. Joe doesn't quite get that Patrick needs to move like clockwork to stay upright, but he tries his hardest, and buys Patrick lots of chocolate to make up for it. Andy wants to be pissed when Patrick frequently wakes him up and tells him he feels nauseous, but it's not Patrick's fault that Pete and Joe have weak stomachs, so he'll deal.
Sometimes, Patrick just wants his mom.

It's 2002 during Operation Enduring Freedom. Petty Officer Pete Wentz walks into the command tent for the only part of an operation he hates--the briefing. Blah Blah Blah...words words words, death by powerpoint.
All that changes when Staff Sergeant Patrick Stumph comes to the front. Longish brown hair that was just a bit out of regulations. Blue eyes that were hidden between thickly-rimmed black glasses that had equally thick lenses. An Air Force uniform that fit well, the sleeves rolled up to show slender arms and elegant fingers. Pale skin that looked like it hadn’t seen the sun in years but that reminded him somehow of his grandma’s china…and oh God. The plumpest, most beautiful lips he had ever seen. Maybe he should reconsider his opinion of these things.
