Midnight promptly broke it with an astonished “Holy shit,” as one of the stronger applicants lifted Midoriya off of the torn up street, per Chiyo’s request.
“Teachers of UA,” Nedzu addressed, feeling quite giddy. “Meet Midoriya Izuku, our top scorer in both the practical and written exams.” Nedzu rolled the video back to Izuku standing in the dust, the girl leaning heavily against him as he stared at the Zero-pointer with determination instead of fear.

Summary
UA has a hole problem. An issue that has plagued them for years, taking various things wherever it goes and never returning them. Every attempt to fill or cover it up it only results in it finding a new place to continue it’s bothersome existence. Many have tried to see where it leads, but those who enter never return.
Thankfully it seems in light of recent tragedies outside the campus, that problem is solved.
UA forgot that it added new buildings.
Or: There is a hole somewhere in UA that drops you ... well, it's dark, and no one really knows where it leads, other than those who fall in don't come back out.

Izuku Midoriya and Hitoshi Shinso are never going to be the kind of heroes that make civilains think ‘oh, thank god we’re saved,’ when they arrive at the scene. There's too much prejudice against them, so a kid with a villain quirk and one with no quirk at all are never going to be able to inspire that sort of trust.
So instead of becoming heroes that bring hope, they decide to become the next best thing.
