Chapter 1: Suspicion

Chapter Text

Being a hero took dedication, it took work and it took guts. Being a hero in training was just as hard, you had to balance actual school with training, this was no joke. This was for the greater good.

Izuku Midoriya had wanted to be a hero ever since he saw the greatest hero All Might on the scene. He saw the fire in the older man’s eyes and saw how he protected others with a smile on his face, he was an inspiration. Izuku was younger than five years old when he decided on his career and was younger than five years old when he was told he couldn’t pursue it. Until he met his hero and was given the gift of One for All.

Now Izuku trained at a prestigious hero school and was top of his class in both intelligence and skill. On top of that he had tons of friends and was dating one of the prettiest girls in school, he was all set.

In the locker room, Izuku stripped off his green jumpsuit, it pealed from his skin due to the sweat that coated his skin. He knew his muscles would be sore in the morning if the pain he was feeling currently. Another boy in his class slides up next to his locker and also began to take off his hero costume. Izuku’s cheeks flushed at the sight of the muscular man undressing right next to him. He stared a little too long at his pectoral muscles and quickly jerked his head in the opposite direction before grabbing his towel and uniform and making his way to the showers.

He tried to clear his head on the thoughts that plagued his mind, yet he didn’t feel as they were abnormal thoughts. Everyone looked at their pers that way, he was simply appreciating the work his fellow student put into his physique. He might write it down in his journal later on.

After a quick shower, Izuku dried off with his towel and got changed, ready to meet his girlfriend who should also be out of the locker room.

“Hey Midoriya,” a deep voice said just too close to his ear.

Izuku stiffened but slowly turned around to see who had said his name.

“Ye-yes?” he stuttered out.

The boy in front of him lacked a shirt and only a towel haphazardly tied around his waist covered his lower half. Izuku turned bright red and looked directly into the other boy’s eyes making sure that they wouldn’t shift downward.

“You were really good out there today dude! Your Shoot Style is really improving. We should train together sometime! You could show me what you do on leg day!” the other boy suggested enthusiastically.

“Oh-uh yeah-yeah that’d be cool. Maybe uh- maybe sometime next week?”

“Sounds good!”

With that, the other male walked away and Izuku could finally breathe. He took a deep breath in, adjusted his tie, and made his way toward the locker room door.

Once he made it out into the hall he caught a glimpse of brown hair and sighed in relief, making his way toward the girl to who it belonged. Izuku lightly bumped shoulders with her and the girl looked up at him.

“Oh Deku! Finally, I was getting worried that you had slipped and bumped your head in there,” she giggled.

Izuku and Ochaco had been dating since their first year. Ochaco had the biggest crush on the green-headed boy and eventually asked him out. He gladly accepted, he wouldn’t pass up dating such a pretty and promising hero. So they had been “going steady” for a while now.

Ochaco quickly pecked his cheek and Izuku gave a shaky smile.

“Maybe you should turn down that shower heat, your face is really red,” she pointed out.

Izuku’s eyes widened and he gave a nervous smile.

“Oh-oh yeah! That hot water just feels so good on achy muscles,” he tried to explain.

“I guess that makes sense.”

Ochaco grabbed Izuku’s hand and lead them both off to the front of the school. They ran into quite a few students and it made Izuku’s head spin, why was Ochaco rushing them so much, what did she want? Once they were out of the building, they headed straight for the dorm rooms.

“So Izuku,” Ochaco said sweetly once she had slowed their pace to a walk.

“Yes, Ochaco?”

“Ya know,” one of her hands began to rub up on Izuku’s bicep, “most of the other students will be out tonight, me and you could…” she trailed off.

Ochaco now pushed her chest into his arm and he turned red in embarrassment. His stomach felt empty and even his bones seemed to have a reaction. Parts of Izuku almost wanted him to gag. He knew what she was implying, he wasn’t stupid, but the idea of going through with what she was suggesting made him sick to his stomach. He tried to suck it up, for her of course. He wanted to do this with her.

“Maybe we could,” he stated.

His voice sounded so unsure though. He loved Ochaco and found her unbelievably attractive, her face was pretty, her hair was soft, her curves were perfect, there was nothing unattractive about this girl.

The two made their way into the dorm building seeing only a few students were down in the lounge which meant it was the perfect time to go through with Ochaco’s plan. Izuku wanted to groan but refrained. They made it up to Izuku’s floor, but Ochaco pulled them away from his door.

“Um Ochaco, my room is right there,” the boy pointed out.

The brunette looked at him and smiled brightly.

“I know...but I feel like my room would be better, your posters make me uncomfortable.”

Izuku had almost forgotten that he had lined his wall with nothing but All Might merch and posters, to any other person it would be quite strange. It never really bothered the freckled boy.

They were finally at the girl’s room and Izuku was sweating. He wasn’t ready, after these two years, he wasn’t ready, but he was willing to go through it. As soon as Ochaco opened her door he was shoved in, his backpack thrown to the ground. The door slammed shut and the brunette had him shoved up against her door. She began kissing him roughly her tongue moving around so much it made Izuku feel sick, but he gripped his hips. Ochaco pulled away from the kiss slightly just to smirk and began pushing Izuku’s school blazer off her shoulders before she took off her own.

She undid the top few buttons of his shirt and kissed down his neck, nipping just a bit and not hard enough to leave marks. She was moaning softly as she pushed herself into Izuku’s thigh. Izuku’s hands were glued to her hips and he refused to move at all. After a few more nips Ochaco pushed Izuku down onto the bed and smirked down at him. She unbuttoned her shirt and pushed it open revealing her black lacey bra. Izuku bit his lip, his face turning red as his stomach churned in dread. The brunette made her way back to the bed when suddenly a loud buzzing came from Izuku’s backpack.

“Hold on,” Izuku said, relieved that this phone call was interrupting what was going on.

He got up off the bed and searched for his cellphone and seeing that his mom was the one calling him. He answered quickly.

“Hi-hi mom,” he said clearing his throat.

He could hear shuffling behind him and prayed Ochaco was putting on her clothes instead of taking them off.

“Sweetheart! How have you been?” she asked.

“I’ve been good mom, is there something wrong, you usually don’t call until later?” he questioned.

“Well, I was wondering if you could maybe come home this weekend? I’ve just been feeling lonely and I want to see my baby again.”

Izuku looked behind him and saw that Ochaco was getting dressed again and he silently thanked the Lord. He pulled his attention back to his phone call.

“I don’t see why not, I’ll make my way over in a bit.”

“Alright sweetie, I love you.”

“I love you too.”

The phone call ended.
“So that was your mom? Is she alright?” Ochaco asked.

Ochaco and Inko had gained a bond within the past few years. Ever since their first meeting they hit it off right away, of course, they would. Ochaco now saw the older woman as a second mom to her and Inko also saw the younger girl as family.

“Yeah she’s fine, she just wants to see me is all,” the boy answered, now straightening out his own clothes.

Ochaco smiled at him.

“Well, why don’t I come with you! I haven’t seen Inko in a while and I miss her cooking!”

“Oh alright, yeah you can come with me.”

With that, the two set off. They changed out of their uniforms and Izuku made sure to grab his school bag so he could work on some homework during the weekend. He didn’t want to get behind. Once they were ready they made their way off-campus.

--------

Inko was a good woman. She had been raising Izuku as a single mom since the boy was only two years old. She tended to be very protective of her son, he was her only child after all and Izuku was quite a clumsy boy. She also held good morals, she made sure everything was done right according to the holy book. She considered herself a very holy woman and almost no one would disagree. She was an angel.

These two things mixed made her very observant toward her son, she could easily pick up on things he was doing despite not living at home. Izuku couldn’t hide anything from her, both because of his honest nature and the fact that Inko was so observant.

------

The couple arrived at the Midoriya household after a bus ride and a 15-minute walk. They had talked about random things, such as school work, training, and their mutual friends. Once they reached the apartment Izuku pushed open the door to let Ochaco in but paused.

In his living room sat Inko, Tenya, All Might, and several other students from the hero school. Izuku hesitantly took off his shoes as he watched Ochaco join the group.

“Mom...what’s going on?” he asked softly still trying to take in all of the people.

Inko gave him a sweet smile and walked up to him, cupping his face and giving him a kiss on his freckled cheek. The gesture was sweet, but it also made Izuku feel dread pool into his body. Something was off.

“Well, Izuku...there’s something I’ve been meaning to discuss with you.”

The green-headed boy kept looking around at all the people, some of them were holding objects in their hands. He began to sweat and his own home was no longer as welcoming, he hated this, what was happening.

“Midoriya, my name is Hanta Sero and I’m from True Direction,” a tall man with dark black hair that was tied back into a ponytail, put his hand out which drew attention to his odd-looking elbows.

Izuku hesitantly took his hand and shook it.

“What’s True Direction?” he asked.

Hanta gave a big smile and shoved his hands in his pockets pulling out a pamphlet. Izuku took the pamphlet from the tall man. On the front, it was the bathroom signs for men and women, blue and pink respectively. Izuku raised an eyebrow and looked back up at the man.

“We at True Direction, take kids like you and put you back on the right path,” Hanta explained.

This only made him more confused. Put him back on the right path? What wrong path had he taken? He was a straight-A student and an extremely promising future hero. He was seemingly perfect when it came to the paths he took. Especially in school.

“Izuku sweetie you’re mumbling,” Inko said as she gave her son a light nudge.

“We know you’re great in school and hero work. However, you’ve seemed to...show some tendencies.”

“Tendencies of what?”

Inko took a deep breath and looked out to the rest of the people in the living room.

“Some homosexual tendencies,” she stated.

Izuku’s eyes blown wide and he turned bright red. How could he be gay! He had a girlfriend! He liked boobs! Hell, he blushed every time he saw boobs! He loved all the female heroes he wrote about in his journal! He even called Mount Lady sexy! What part of that was gay! His mind was racing and he began to feel dizzy.

“I- uh- ho-how?” he stuttered.

Tenya cleared his throat and stood up, calling attention to himself.

“I’ve noticed you stare at my lower half quite often Midoriya,” he explained.

“Because your legs are amazing I want mine to look just like yours!”

Tenya cleared his throat again and adjusted his glasses.

“Yes, but you’ve looked a little too closely at my...other regions.”

Izuku was embarrassed. There’s no way these people really thought he was gay. He never stared at Tenya like that! He was only admiring him just like any other person would! Tenya was amazing and Izuku just simply looked up at him.

The other boys in the room shook their heads in agreement. Most claiming that they had seen Izuku stare at them while they changed in the locker room. They were all accusing him of something so...perverted, so wrong.

Inko now spoke up, holding one of Izuku’s many All Might posters. All Might himself was in the room and he looked uncomfortable, he didn’t want to be there, but he was. He was there because he thought the same as everyone else.

“Izuku has had these posters since he was little, he’s taken a certain liking to All Might. He’s a great hero and his mentor! However, this liking turned into an obsession,” she said.

Inko sounded so...disappointed, she sounded heartbroken. This whole situation broke this woman, but it affected Izuku just as much, if not more.

“But.. I’m dating Ochaco!” he argued.

The brunette now spoke up.

“And you don’t even like kissing me! You never wanna have sex with me!” she accused.

“Because my mom would kill me!”

“Izuku, you stiffen anytime I show you affection.”

That made Izuku go silent. She was right. He knew she was beautiful, knew she was smart, he knew she was great...but he also knew he wasn’t truly attracted to her. She was just his only option, the first one to reach out to him. Was he really what these people thought he was.

“Midoriya it’s alright, I used to struggle too, but we can get you back on the right track, on the true direction.”

The boy looked at everyone around him. At Tenya, Ochaco, All Might, Inko. His mom has clear tears in her eyes, she was distraught. Izuku took a deep breath and looked down at his feet.

“Okay.”
