Summary
After years of neglecting the abbey's archives, the pope decides to hire someone to organize the room overflowing with books. However, while you are busy with your job, an incident uncovers the presence of ghouls within the abandoned walls of the abbey. Soon enough, you find yourself witnessing conflicts between the pack and the new ghoul, as well as issues involving the clergy and the previous ones.
(A lot of pack dynamics; Phantom has recently been summoned, and his transformation is still ongoing; the pack is having a hard time trying in managing such a troublesome new member; Sisteer Imperator is a difficult individual to handle (a bitch)).

Summary
To successfully keep a summoned ghoul in the mortal realm, they must bond to a willing soul. This bond is terribly strong, only the soul may break it. Desperate to remain in contract, ghouls blindly follow and protect the soul they have bonded to. Should that soul perish before the immortality of the ghoul is transferred onto them, the ghoul would be cast back to Hell.
I realized I needed some time to truly come to terms with leaving my current life within the church to pursue a life on the edge of the shadows.
"You-you should not be here! We have not even called in to the Pits," Papa nearly shouted, his pristine makeup had begun to ruin in the unnatural heat of the room.
My gaze trailed over to Sodo who had silently listened to the exchange. He didn't offer any words, but his warm hand that sought to rest over my knee offered his reassurance. I leaned closer to find shelter in his warmth as another cold gust of wind came to pass.
How could I ask him to further deny our insatiable cravings to touch one another's soul when we have already done so.
