Summary
After Tim tries to save Batman from himself as he's self-destructing in his grief, Tim is severely injured (to the point of permanent injury). Now Tim is deciding that he will have to become something else to save Batman and Gotham. To honor his hero Robin (the deceased Jason), Tim will become a shadowy figure who builds a team of misfit heroes to combat Gotham's darkness and Batman's grief.
When Red Hood debuts in Gotham, there will be some confusion on Hood's part. Who are the Guards? Why do they not get along with Batman? What is going on? But once he meets them and their leader, he makes a lot of realizations as he grows closer to Sentry and his people. -

After learning that the kids of mob bosses are being killed, Tim Drake suspects that it could be none other than Jason Todd. Because, well, who else is more than willing to hurt kids in the name of revenge? Tim even has the scars to prove it.
OR
Jason learns that he is Tim's Joker and decides that it's time for him to step up and show Tim that he is a better person, that he can be a better brother. Now it's up to him to come to terms with learning how to forgive himself, and to be the brother that Tim deserves.

Tim was not tiny. He wasn’t, and he was willing to die on that hill. But maybe— just maybe— compared to his father and older brothers, he was on the smaller side. It wasn’t his fault that genetics hadn’t exactly lended themselves to the improvement of his stature. (Though, he knew multiple people who would argue that his constant overdosing of caffeine and his inability to sleep more than thirty hours a week may have had a hand in stunting his growth. To that, Tim had no comment.)
Unfortunately, as a result of the rather embarrassing size contrast between himself and his older family members, he found himself being manhandled by them infuriatingly often.
