Summary
When Will wakes, there’s nothing left for him. He’s unable to speak and his body is in pieces. There’s a touch that tells him one thing. Hannibal is there.
Sometimes being with someone weighs heavier than their absence. Sometimes you just want to stay down in the depths, but if Will knows anything for certain, it's that most things end where they start. And that he has no choice but to ball his fists, cuss himself out, follow suit and hold on tight.

After the fall Will and Hannibal end up in an isolated shack in Nova Scotia. Their relationship evolves with every place they move to. They push past pain killers, close proximity, bad dreams, curtainless windows and dead memories. Past is past, they can only keep going.

“… I don't want to kill you." A hateful admission. Hannibal considers this, and finds that she holds the same sentiment.
"Then you won't." She tilts her head, chestnut strands falling away from the side of her neck. Will swallows and goes to look away, but Hannibal does not allow it. She catches Will's cheek, coaxing her back with a steel-soft hand, and runs her thumb tenderly along her jaw. Will is hot to the touch. Flushed with the blood of a fresh kill. "You won't, because you are a creature of free will. A work of creation steeped in horror and divine beauty… and you are my friend. I have enormous faith in you, Will."
Will confronts Hannibal at a critical moment, revealing some inconvenient truths about each other. What's to be done about that?

A couple of years following the fall, Hannibal and Will have slipped into a tentative domesticity. Sexually, they have known each other fully. Intimately, there is a newfound barrier. Their bond is frayed, mangled by unspoken truths. Hannibal feels left in the dark, both figuratively and literally, by his lover. Will refuses to touch Hannibal with the lights on, and even in the dark, he is a suppressed, caged beast; it’s only a matter of time before one of them reaches their breaking point.
