Summary
The first thing Castiel sees once he's touched back down within the Winchester's dingy motel room is Sam shaking Dean forcefully in a vain attempt to wake him. The muffled sound of ruffling feathers and large gust of wind draw Sam's attention away from his brother. Sam's eyes seem oddly lit in the dim light of the motel, panic and fear making it seem as though they're glowing.

Sam had met Gabriel in 2007, the day after Valentines (Gabriel stated that if Sam had just come in to the bar one day earlier, their meeting would have been stupidly romantic) at the Harvelle Roadhouse. Castiel met Dean in 2008 at Kripke Elementary School, due to Gabriel insisting that his boyfriend and his brother would be perfect speakers for their class' career day. Needless to say, things for all four of them progressed rather significantly.

Summary
The Winchesters were in trouble and Castiel was desperate.
Still believing he needs to do penance for his sins, Castiel finds a solution to his and the Winchester’s troubles that Dean is anything but fond of. After struggling to get back what Castiel lost, the Winchesters and angels find themselves facing the consequences of their actions through both Heaven and Hell; this, in turn, prompts a series of incredibly important questions for all involved.
What really happened between Heaven’s most famous archangels, and why did Lucifer really fall? Did Lucifer’s brother truly cast him out, or was that just what he wanted people to believe?
[Mostly canon compliant with some alterations up until 08x08, then it greatly and definitely veers from canon. Rated M for themes, violence, language, etc. This work is currently undergoing a massive edit and update.
