Summary
Will reaches his hand out towards Mike’s face to wipe the ink off, and Mike’s heart falters weakly in his chest, excitement buzzing in his veins because he’s been waiting. Waiting for Will’s touch.
But as quickly as the moment begins, it ends just as fast.
Mike’s breath hitches as Will’s hand stops dead mid-air, frozen in time. He drops his hand back to the table, the smile on his face wavering, and turns back to Holly to start a conversation again. But Mike can see the way his hands are trembling ever so slightly and tries not to let the devastating ache echoing throughout his body swallow him whole.

Summary
A few years in the future, the party gather together in Mike’s basement for a movie night. But after the rest of the party fall asleep, Mike gets bored, and offers up a new idea. A game of chicken.
Will is in for more than he bargained for when he agreed, but he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t very hap-satisfied with how things ended.
Or: Mike and Will play chicken while the rest of the party are asleep and then they make out and fall in love about it

He takes a deep breath and looks around the table once again. His friends are looking at him, expecting him to give a long-winded speech on what he chooses for himself. The truth is, he does see himself writing, continuing their stories through books, writing happy endings. But, if he plans to fulfill his future, doesn’t that mean he should be happy too?
Mike is going to choose happiness, but that only happens if he starts being honest with himself. And that starts with Will.
It always started with Will.“Fuck this,” Mike says. He gets up from the table and looks over to Will. Will has his brows furrowed, looking around the table.

Summary
Mike returns, hands patting at curls that were now carefully parted to the right and slicked down at the sides.
Will looks at him with his mouth agape in complete and utter horror, rubbing his eyes and doing a double-take because there’s no way this is real.
I need to fix this before the Party sees. They’ll never let him live this down.
And with that, Will approaches Mike, who's now sitting on the edge of his bed and tying his shoes. He steps between Mike’s open knees, holding the sides of his face to shift his gaze from his dirty sneakers and up into Will’s eyes.
(OR: Will Byers hates Mike Wheeler's new haircut. Every time Mike tries to style his hair, Will purposely finds a way to mess it up, often in...unorthodox...ways. But is Mike really as oblivious as Will thinks he is, or does Mike keep styling his hair this way for a reason?)
(OR: 5 times Will exploits Mike's hair pulling kink and messes up his greasy side part and 1 time Mike retaliates.)
