    The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.

    “I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”

    With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.

    This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.

    “Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

    Grian is a vet. After a chance encounter in the dead of night, during which he accidentally saves a villain from the brink of death, he suddenly finds himself entangled in a world beyond anything he could've ever imagined.

    In which Mumbo crosses several towns, learns some creative methods of self-defense, fights some monsters, sees things no human is meant to have seen, befriends a stranger, steals multiple cars, has inconvenient moral scruples, grows increasingly terrified of his own culpability in the apocalypse, grows a spine, blows up at least one building, accidentally prevents a murder, and attempts to find his best friend in the futile but ever-burning hope the man’s still alive.

    He has to say, he’s so exhausted and terrified that he thinks he might just be mad?

    (OR: the one where, after most of humanity turns into a series of terrifying monsters, Mumbo decides he’s going to risk his life on an apocalypse road trip to try to find out if Grian is alive. Things, as you might imagine, devolve from there.)

    Summary

    Stareater is a fantasy space sci-fi au, where our team of 'heros' get put in a death game and have to figure their way out of it.
    As well as just survive with eachother, become a space crew and meet many other interesting characters/places along the way.
    There's alot of world building, and the plan for the series is pretty long.

    //Warning this fic in far future chapters will feature major character death, and also might contain shipping content. Though we'll tag those parts appropriately and there will not be anything explicit
    it's important to note this here.//

     

    But also this fic focus is more on the narrative than shipping-

    This series is based mostly off third life and double life, being desertduo and ranchers centric but it takes elements from many different series like hermitcraft and empires smp. And includes SOO many characters!!!

    Summed up we wanted to make a space bandits au!!!
