There are a couple of fresh shirts on the dresser, the ones Buck had packed in LA the previous morning. One black tank top and a deep green one stretched on the shoulders, he picks the second one and walks his way to the bathroom on the other end of the hallway.
Grandma’s room has been shut, but even if it wasn’t, Eddie would have been okay. It is out of his system.
Always the same, these kinda things. He blows it out of the park with a stellar pity party, Buck has to get him back in one piece and then Eddie is good to go. Riled up and ready to compartmentalize and forget.
So, clearly, he’s okay now.
Eddie is forced to go back to Texas; this time, everything might turn out okay.

"What are you saying, Eddie?" Buck asks again, soft and patient, and it's so unlike him that Eddie melts into his chair.
"Yeah," Eddie chuckles. "What am I saying?"
"Y-you want to try with me? Figuring out…"
"If we could want the same form of physical intimacy from each other," Eddie finishes for him with a nod, a little more confident now.
"H-how?"
"Uh, I don't know yet," Eddie admits. "Slowly, I suppose. I thought we could, you know, come up with a plan together?"
"A plan," Buck echoes, but he doesn't sound weirded out, more like he's already planning to buy a clipboard. "And it wouldn't be strange? I mean, considering— I'm a man, Eddie."
OR After the attack in the hospital, Eddie finds a letter hidden inside a book that Buck gave him, and reading it unravels him irreparably.

“You said you talked to Hen about”—Ravi makes a vague, conjuring gesture, even though Eddie can’t see it—“all this yesterday, right? She dresses the best out of all of us. You should ask her for fashion advice.”
“I tried.” Eddie huffs. “She said, verbatim, ‘I’m not your gay Yoda.’”
With that, the fitting room stall’s lock finally clicks open, the door swinging open with a muted groan. Eddie steps out, arms spread wide. “Alright. What do we think?”
From an objective standpoint, he looks good. He looks really good. Objectively speaking.
From a subjective standpoint, he looks like someone Buck wants to pin against the nearest surface and fuck until they’re both stupid.
“Handsome, you are,” Buck croaks.

Eddie realized dimly that his hand was still lifted, phone pressed to his ear, the call still live – Buck’s voice spilling through the speaker, thin and panicked and far too loud:
“…Eddie, what is happening? Talk to me. Eddie.”
He should have kissed him before leaving the house, Eddie thought, as his knees gave out.
He should have kissed him more, period. Every chance he got. In the kitchen, from behind, hands wrapped around his waist. On the couch, during the quiet lull of a movie neither of them was watching. In the parking lot before a shift, just because he could. In the locker room as the bells went off – a good luck charm tucked just out of sight.
He should have stopped acting like there’d always be another time.
