“Hey, don’t blame me. You’re the one that brought me up here,” Chase says, ignoring Nox’s surprised spluttering, “what? No I didn’t? You’re the one—”“The key is—was?—me? Honestly, I’m not even sure myself,” Chase continues, words slowly fading into the background as he continues to ramble, “I can remember everything beforehand fine, but after the witch did her magic or whatever, everything is a little fuzzy and honestly it’s been so long since anyone has been able to see me, I’m just happy talking to someone again,” he goes, not realising Nox has long stopped listening.
The key that Nox had barely thought twice about; it’s unknown magic that he’d unthinkingly taken into his own, to be absorbed when he had barely an understanding to the spell that was woven into the very fabric of the key’s construct, having thought it nothing more than tangled weave.
Or: Nox meets Chase, a spirit echo once inhabiting a key.

Deacon can’t bite back the reflexive laughter. “You might not have noticed the ropes, but I didn’t exactly choose to come here.”
He lifts his eyes, glowering with what little strength he possesses and notes that Fire-Haired has stopped a safe distance, far enough Deacon wouldn’t be able to headbutt him even if he could manage to climb to his feet. Copper has stepped back, giving him the floor and neatly standing between him and the three soldiers in a move so fluid it could almost be accidental.
Deacon knows it’s not.Behind, everyone still standing around the table are silent; watching their companion, waiting for him to make the next move.
And just like that everything falls into place.“So you’re him,” Deacon says, ignoring that his voice is slightly scratchy from disuse. “You’re Aeramon’s false king.”

Tommy has had so many other distractions to keep him from thinking too closely, or understanding, and yet looking now there are so many similarities that he can’t quite get his head around—
“What is it that makes him so different?” Tommy asks, and then again, although this time in a language that the others can understand. They’re all watching him closely, but before Tommy can reflexively apologise, he realises they’re not concerned, but curious. Assang tilts their head, Foruwua pops their lips and Lulah leans forward from her perch, catching Tommy’s eye.
“What do you know of the Blood God?” she asks , the question seemingly out of nowhere, like a distraction rather than an answer, but the steel in her amber eyes tells Tommy otherwise.

Summary
Loki's made a lot of mistakes in his time. He's lied, he's killed, he's betrayed his friends and enemies so many times that he's not even sure what side he's on anymore. When they speak his name, they speak in equal parts distrust and admiration. Loki: god of chaos, advisor to the All-Father, traitor to the Jötnar.
But when he finds himself in the impossible position of having the chance to fix things, he's not sure if he's worthy of the chance. If he even has what it takes.
He knows one thing for sure, though: he's not letting his father die this time around.

Bronze narrows his eyes.
No one is supposed to be in the kitchen right now. He knows that with absolute certainty. Which means, if Chase’s ramblings about a particular villainess and his chocolate obsession are to be believed…
This must be Buddy.
Bronze clears his throat as he ventures forth into the room.
The reaction is immediate. The figure spins around like a kid caught with their hand in the cookie jar before dinner—eyes wide, fork frozen mid-air.
Bronze feels his face drop. It’s strange feeling skin and muscles contort instead of the usual stillness of metal—but the sensation barely registers. There’s something else, something far heavier beneath his bones, dragging through his chest like a boulder sinking in water.
He knows that face.
And he watches in slow motion as “Buddy” appears to be experiencing a similar emotion.

Summary
The first time Claw came for Teru, he was ten. He remembers how his parents just sat there, watching, a strange look on their faces. Teru always told himself that they were too scared, too shocked to get up and help him. As he grew older, he saw it for what it was.
To them, it didn’t matter if he was taken. It would mean one less inconvenience in their world.
With the help of schoolyard fights, hideous shirts, and a lot of MobDonald’s, Teru confronts the reality of the role that Reigen fulfills in his life.
