Fic idea.
Shane and Ilya have a baby through surrogacy. Both their sperm is used to make embryos and their surrogate is wasian so they never know which embryo was successful and who the biological father of their daughter is.
They don’t want to know. They say it doesn’t matter to them.
Until one day, their toddler daughter ends up in hospital. Shane accidentally sees a file that states her blood type, revealing to Shane that Ilya must be the biological father.He gets in his head about it, worrying that she’s more bonded with Ilya.
He reveals his fears to Ilya who tries to reassure him.
But he’s still thinking about it.
Then one day, all 3 of them are in the park.
Their daughter falls and hurts her knee. She starts crying.
Ilya walks towards her.
She runs past him and throws herself into Shane’s arms.
Shane is overjoyed.
Ilya looks on proudly and lovingly.

Dan suffers from a severe genetic disorder that has forced him to spend his entire life indoors, going outside is too dangerous for him as he has no immune system and catching any illness can result in his death.
He was as content as he could be given his situation, he would fill his time watching his neighbours and creating elaborate stories about their lives in his head, until Phil Lester moved in across the street.
Now Dan can't stop thinking about the man with the plants and suddenly his 'normal' life isn't as satisfying as it had once been.
