“You wanna ‘figure it out’?” Stan repeated, exasperated -in a rush of words, “-It would be so fucking easy to just talk to each other, but, if this is what I have to do to get Richie out of my fucking hair-”
Eddie could barely follow his words.
“-Then, fucking fine. What do you wanna know?”
Eddie blinked, a little taken aback by his tone, “I just… Richie acts differently with me. And I think… I don't fucking know, but I think-”
“Richie's been in love with you since the 2nd grade,” Stanley interrupted, flatly.
Eddie's whole body froze.
“What?!” Eddie screeched, face burning bright pink.
Stanley continued, unphased, “Does that help?”

His phone vibrated, waking him up about two hours after he’d fallen asleep. Eddie pulled it out, expecting to see something from Stan—or maybe Richie saying something else.
It was Richie.

Eddie stared at the words on his screen, his breath caught in his throat, all the warmth and hope from the night draining out of him like water from a leaking bucket. Will had finally told Richie — and he'd told him that Eddie knew too.Shit Shit Shit
There was no good answer. No way to fix this. His hands were shaking and the screen kept blurring and he had absolutely no idea what to type back.
Then another message came in.Richie – 3:48 AM: answer me eddie please fuck just answer
And Eddie — for the first time in his life — had nothing to say.

"What the fuck, Bev?" he asks in a harsh whisper. Beverly sighs, heaving Richie up higher against her as he begins to slip.
"I know. I know!" she says. "I just didn't know where else to take him! I can't bring him home like this. And you know my dad will freak if I bring a boy home. Especially like this."
Like this is drunker than Eddie's ever seen anyone, let alone Richie. He can smell the alcohol seeping out of Richie's pores, something sickly sweet punctuated by the lingering scent of cigarette smoke wafting off both of them. Eddie wrinkles his nose against it, his mouth twisting sourly the closer he nears the two of them.
