"We’re going to reanimate him, aren’t we?” Maxwell asks, foot tapping impatiently against the deck. They’ve moved Torse’s body to Marya’s workshop and Maxwell hates how much it makes his friend look like an invention. Or worse, a toy. It pisses him off so much to see, but it would piss him off more trying to go about his day as if his friend didn’t shove his heart in an engine to save a world.
At her workbench, Marya doesn’t look up from the iron heart she's messing with. “Yes, Maxwell, that is the plan. Try asking another ten times, the answer might surprise you!”
“I’m just wondering.” He crosses his arms, shoulders raised and temper flaring. “Considering non-consensual heart modification was not part of our original discussion. Maybe other things have changed, as well.”
Something slaps his back, right where his suit is covering a still-healing wound. “Ow.”
