Summary
“I don’t know,” he shook his head, “it's just, when I look at the others, I see so many faces, ‘n they all look so happy.” He squeezes his hands together, tilting his head down.
“And when I look at me, I see no one.” A tear falls onto his hands. Then another, and another. He clenches his hands even tighter. “I don’t get it. Why don’t they like me? I’m not deaf. I can hear them whisperin’ behind my back.”
Even more tears. His breath hitches as he breathes in. The metal casing over his hands are creaking, slowly cracking under the pressure. “Why don’t I have any friends?” he whispers, eyes closed. He turns his head away, feet dangling off the railing.
Mike grabs one of his hands, and pulls it away. “Well, I like you.” Monty’s eyes snap open, and he stares at Mike. “I’ll be your friend, for as long as you need,” he forces a smile on his face. “At least until you can make another friend.”

Summary
“The Red Hood has been good for Gotham,” Robin continued. “Crime in Park Row decreased by sixty one percent almost as soon as you showed up, and that’s even taking into account all the crime you commit. Drug overdoses have decreased by twenty two percent in adults and seventy nine percent in minors. Homeless minors are ninety two percent less likely to—”
“Kid,” Jason interrupted. “Enough statistics. What the hell is this about?”
Robin slowly lowered the tablet with his powerpoint presentation and looked up at Red Hood.
“You care about Gotham,” Robin summarised. “Gotham needs Batman. Batman is missing and so is Nightwing. We need you to fill in for Batman.”
“You want me to cover Batman’s patrols?” Jason clarified.
“No,” Robin said. “I want you to be Batman.”
Jason bluescreened.
(Or: Batman and Nightwing mysteriously disappear before Red Hood has even started antagonising them, Robin is desperate, Gotham needs Batman, and Red Hood is Batman-Shaped.)

Summary
By the end of the week, Danny wasn’t sure what kind of asylum he’d crawled into.
The butler tried to feed him. (He didn’t eat human food anymore. The man looked so sad when Danny refused the soup that Danny almost felt guilty.)
Someone strung up crosses in the attic. (Danny ignored them. But when they brought up putting in Christmas lights? He hissed on instinct and nearly melted through the floorboards.)
The angry sword kid tried to evict him again. Danny iced him into a snowdrift in the corner. (Not his fault if he kept coming back.)
The insomniac came back with a stethoscope, for some reason. He pressed it against the casket lid and muttered about “no heartbeat.” Danny gave one loud, dramatic snore in response.
All Danny wanted was one thing. Just one.
Sleep.
Was that so hard?
Apparently, in this house, yes.
Or,
Danny just wanted a nap, but instead he got a nosy family and a stuffed bat named Steve.
