Summary
Buck has self-control. He hasn’t always used it, but he likes to think he’s gotten a lot better at it, throughout the years.
Evidence: He’s clenching his jaw to the point of pain and very pointedly looking at the TV, like the local weatherman spouting off about a heat wave is capable of holding this much of his attention. If this were—before, they would not be watching the news.
...or, Eddie could just use his words, but where’s the fun in that?

Summary
"That is. Okay. Where do I start." Pushing off the counter — hands need to be free for this. "Number one. That is not how being secure in your sexuality works. Number two. That is the opposite of how it works. Number three. Most straight men who are secure in their sexuality do not, as a method of confirming this, seek out gay sex. That is— Eddie, that is gay. The thing you are describing is gay. The act of doing it is gay. There is no version of this where you end up more straight at the other end."
Eddie scoffs. "You don't know that."
"I do know that."
"You don't."
"Eddie, I am bi. I have personally conducted this experiment. The results are in."
Or,
Eddie asks Buck to fuck him to prove he's straight. Things go about as well as you'd think.Series

Summary
“He’s not,” Christopher interrupted after he swallowed, his eyebrows furrowed, “that’s not- no. Bucks not my uncle.”
His abuela waved a dismissive hand, “Oh, of course not, I know that. Isn’t that a thing you young ones do? Refer to your parents' close friends as aunts or uncles?”
And here’s the thing, yes. He refers to Hen and Karen as his aunties. He’s never blinked at that. He routinely tells people that he and Denny are basically cousins.
Sure, he even calls Maddie and Chim his aunt and uncle without a second thought, but that’s because - well, that’s because..
“He’s not my uncle,” Christopher repeated, “He’s my other dad.”

Summary
So in the middle of Eddie’s dining room, with his brain to mouth filter non-existent (as per usual), Buck blurts out, “Marry me.”
Eddie sits straight up, looking at him with eyes wide as saucers.
“Excuse me?”
“W-well, just think about it. If we get married I can add you and Chris to my insurance policy and that solves your problem.”
Eddie’s mouth forms a perfect little ‘o’. Buck waits patiently for the floor to open up and swallow him whole.
When the ground doesn’t do as he’d hoped he realizes he has to say something else. “Obviously, w-we don’t have to,” he’s quick to assure. “But if we did it would be platonic, of course, because you’re straight and–” he pauses, praying for another rogue stroke of lightning. Anything to put him out of his misery right now. “-and like I know that I’m bi now, but this wouldn’t be like that y’know? It would just be two friends helping each other out.” He’s rambling, the words won’t stop tumbling out. “Like a friends with benefits type situation! E-except you know not those kinds of benefits! Like actual benefits! Health and dental.”
or,
Eddie is moving to Texas, losing his insurance, and marrying Buck all very heterosexually and platonically.

“Sit on me.”
It’s an insane thing to offer. Logically, Eddie knows this. Nobody in their right mind would do what he’s about to do, but Eddie’s starting to think maybe he isn’t in his right mind.
“Sit on you?”
“On my thighs,” Eddie explains. “That way you, uh. You know. You can touch.”
“Your ass?”
Eddie nods.
A small, wheezy laugh slips past Buck’s lips. “You want me to sit on you and j-jerk off to porn?”
“And touch,” Eddie adds.
Or: Buck wants to hit the town and get laid. Eddie is vehemently against this idea.

“My dick is gone,” Eddie says, hushed but frantic.
Buck splutters, wide unblinking eyes still glued to Eddie’s crotch, eyebrows knit together harshly and dragging high on his forehead. Eddie would laugh at his ridiculous face if he didn’t feel like he was going to throw up. “It’s not gone, you have a—”
“Don’t say it,” Eddie warns weakly.

“I don’t know why you’re calling me Buck,” says the second Buck. “But you can handle me any time you want, hotass.”
He drags his eyes up Eddie’s body, shameless, slow. When he meets Eddie’s eyes, he grins with a kind of calculated flirtatiousness.
Eddie clears his throat. “Are you not Buck? Evan Buckley?”
“Yeah, that’s me. Evan. We know each other?” He bites his lip, still smiling, and Eddie huffs a laugh that comes out strange, shy and breathless.
Healing and love and good things coming down the road.

Summary
“Shannon,” he whispers softly.
“I couldn’t do it,” she says frantically, pacing around his coffee table. “I couldn’t — Christopher was crying and I tried to comfort him but my hands would just go through him. I couldn’t fix it, Buck. I couldn’t do anything but watch.”
What is Buck even supposed to tell her? That it’s unfair? It is but he’s pretty sure that she’s very aware of that. That it sucks? Yes, it very much does suck but again, she knows, she’s going through it, living it. She doesn’t need Buck to tell her any of that.
Nothing he says can make this better but he can explain what’s going to happen, can try to prepare her for what awaits her.Or Evan Buckley has always been able to see ghosts. He's been helping them pass to the other side for years. Now he has to help Eddie's estranged wife, Shannon.

Summary
Hen sighs. “Something had to be said before you idiots put us in mortal peril.”
“I’d never do anything to jeopardize our safety on a job! You know that Hen.”
“Maybe not on purpose,” Chim chimes in, “but, see, the thing is, when you flirt with our Buck, his brain turns off. He just bluescreens.”
“You’re flustering the poor boy, Eddie,” Hen adds. “And it’s making him dumb.”
“-er,” Chim adds.
“Wha- Buck isn’t flustered.”
Eddie is flustered. His face feels hot. He takes another sip of his coffee to give his hands something do to, but that only makes him feel warmer. Shit.
Hen levels him with the most deadpan look. “Last week he walked into a stop sign after you called him ‘big boy’ on a call.”
Eddie nearly spits out his coffee.

Summary
“So,” Buck says, head spinning. He’s really feeling the alcohol now. They definitely should have eaten something before drinking. “No women.”
Eddie fumbles as he sets the bottle down on his bedside table. “No women.”
“What about men?” Buck blurts, which is—crazy, because again: neither of them are gay.
They’re just two straight guys. Two straight guys in Eddie’s bed, tipsy, and—and Eddie doesn’t want to sleep with women. Which means nothing.
Beside him, Eddie goes preternaturally still. “I would know, if I—you know.”
“Okay.” Buck’s hands twitch at his sides. “I—yeah. Me too.”
Then, very seriously, Eddie turns to look at him. “If I were gay, you would be my first call.”
Warmth blooms in Buck’s chest. Eddie’s so nice to him. “Dude,” he says, touched. “You’d be my first call too.”
Or: a story set in season 2 featuring tequila, Just The Tip, and, finally, a kiss.

Summary
That one day didn’t actually make everything right. Eddie's thoughts kept going back to it. He couldn’t help it. He tried to find ways to allow himself to experience joy, to be frivolous and selfish but it just wasn’t happening. Or it wasn’t sticking.
With no answer in sight, Eddie realized his best chance was to go back to the church and get more advice from Brian. He had been right the first, well, second time. He could be right again.
Or, Eddie needs help figuring himself out. He gets it and then Buck arrives. And Eddie gets it again.

Summary
It’s a tight fit, kneeling in here. A tight fit with Father Brian’s cock against the back of his throat, bigger than Eddie would have expected. If he’d been thinking about things like that lately.
Father Brian twists his fingers into the chain of the St. Christopher medal around Eddie’s neck and stifles a desperate moan as he pulls the tiny metal beads taut against corded throat muscle. And for a moment, Eddie feels holy.
“You can pretend I’m Buck, if you want,” Father Brian grunts, his voice a throaty rasp.
Or maybe what Eddie really feels is damned.

“Eddie, I know you know how that would look. Your parents are gonna think— And I know they’re like really Catholic. And not like Bobby Catholic.”
Eddie lets out a soft laugh. “Quite frankly… I don’t care. In fact, I welcome it.”
Buck frowns. “Why would you—”
“Because I really don’t want to hear all about how I’m a fuck up of a father right now,” Eddie interrupts sharply. “And if that means hearing all about another way I’ve disappointed them, then so be it.”

Summary
Day twenty-three, change of tactics.
I feel like you both are being dumb.
Dad unfolds this one and reads it and stops and reads it again like he's hoping the words will rearrange themselves into something less insulting.
"Excuse me?"
"It's my feeling." Chris spears a dumpling with his chopsticks. "You can't argue with my feeling, that's not how therapy works."
"I can ask for clarification on what you mean."
"Clarification about what? It's very clear. You—" he points at Dad, "both—" he swings to point at Buck, "dumb. Three words. Simple sentence structure. I learned about that in English class."
Or,
Chris weaponizes his therapy homework to make his emotionally constipated dad admit he's in love with Buck. -

And it’s probably the wrong thing to say, but Christopher is just— he’s so angry, he’s so angry and he wants to lash out at someone.
“I wish you and Dad had never even met!” With that, Christopher actually goes into his room, and Buck doesn’t stop him, or say anything.
He lays down on his bed, burying his face in his pillow, and finally lets out the rest of the tears he’d been holding back.

Summary
After months of agonizing about how to tell his team that he was an omega, the truth came out on a regular Tuesday afternoon.
Chimney was showing them an ultrasound a victim from an accident a few weeks back had sent him, thanking Chim for his help saving his girlfriend and unborn child.
“They are the size of a peanut right now, just this small.” Buck was explaining to Christopher, fingers an inch apart.
“Whoa! Was I ever that small, dad?” Chris asked, looking up at Eddie, “Back when I was in your tummy?” He added, placing a hand on Eddie's stomach.
Eddie could hear the sharp intakes of breath, but he kept his eyes on Chris, placing a hand on top of his son’s and answering “Yeah bud, back when you were living right here.”
He forced himself to be brave then, taking a deep breath and holding on to his son’s hand, he looked up at the others. Both Chim and Buck looked shocked.
Buck had his hand raised towards him as if he too, was going to place it on Eddie's stomach.
