Sometimes, Bernadetta wondered if her spirit was the reincarnation of some sort of prey animal. A rabbit, perhaps. Maybe a squirrel. Maybe that was why the first thing she ever did (when she could) at a school event was to find the most empty, quiet corner and curl into a ball, her arms holding onto her bent knees while she took in quiet, shallow breaths. Currently, the corner of the Garreg Mach library between two bookshelves has become her new burrow.

And it was freezing. It was the Ethereal moon, and the harsh winter winds bit against his skin, even underneath his thick coat. What he was doing was probably sacrilegious, but eh, he wasn’t ever particularly devout. If the goddess existed, everything would probably feel a lot less terrible right now."
Sylvain is using negative coping mechanisms to escape his thoughts. in the middle of this process, he encounters Marianne in the Garreg Mach cathedral at 3am.
