Summary
Carl comes back to the bookshop where he's worked for years. It should be easy. He's good at his job, in his own way.
Except that everything is different after the event that sent him to the hospital. Everything, including that new IT guy who is supposed to help them.

Summary
The last time Carl saw Akram, it was only his back: strong shoulders held by soft fabric, his suit perfectly fitted at the waist where he'd buried his head a few days before, and long, frustrated strides as he walked out of the police station. It wasn't good, going alone.
A series of first and last times for Carl & Akram.

Summary
He knew exactly what Akram was. Knew he would never harm him. Intentionally.
He held the thought carefully, checked it for cracks, because it mattered that it was true. It was true.
But.
Carl is learning the many shapes of Akram’s hands — what they do for him. What they do to him. An open palm. A hand held in the dark. A finger on a trigger. A thumb against his pulse.
It’s all a question of pressure.

Bookmarker's Notes
This is the most unnerving thing I've read in a while. And exquisitely written.

Summary
Carl's precognitive abilities chose the worst time imaginable to crap out on him: right before the Leith Park shooting. Four months later, he's determined to try and get them back, even if it means working closely with his annoying new assistant.

Summary
He was fine.
The rule was for when someone wasn’t fine, and he was.
The rule had always been clear. Carl keeps pushing it anyway. Akram draws the line.
