    Blame It On the Coma by

    One of the main characters - the only surviving witness to a murder - has just woken from a coma. Not only is she entirely cognizant, but the first thing that the subtitles say she asks for is a lawyer.

    “What are you fucking giggling about?”

    The other person that’s been paying attention is Flambae. He’s right next to Robert on the couch, his arm slung over the top behind his head. One foot is propped up on the other knee, also pointing towards Robert, which has him caged in the corner by the arm rest. It’s probably some fucked-up power move. Robert has been ignoring it just to spite him.

    “It’s just not how comas work,” Robert shrugs.

    “Right, and you know because you’re a fucking doctor,” Flambae quips back.

    “I know because I was in one, asshole.”

    During a quiet night in, Robert realizes that his coma and injuries aren't common knowledge among Z-Team.

    Most of them take the information in stride with jokes aplenty.

    Flambae does not.

    In his sleep, Robert appears- for once in his life- like he’s not stressed to hell and back. The frown lines on his forehead are smooth and lax, and even the exhausted bruises that paint the skin below his eyes a sickly purple seem diminished in the soothing glow of Chad’s bedside lamp. He’s still scruffy and unfortunately clothed in that hideous uniform, but all that does is add to the reality of Robert being here, safe and comfortable in Chad’s bed.

    Without even realizing he’s doing it, Chad reaches out and smooths his hand over the messy puff of Robert’s hair. The other man hums quietly and turns towards the warmth of his palm, and Chad flinches back like he’s somehow, impossibly, been burned. Robert’s face creases into that oh-so familiar frown as if Chad’s touch was wanted in the first place, and a spike of longing spears through him.

    Robert let out an unbidden snort, stirring his drink with his straw. Flambae just cast a sidelong glance at him, raising one thick eyebrow.
    “You doubting me, bitch?”
    Robert just pressed his lips into a line and wavered his hand in the air in a kinda motion. “Ehh…”
    Flambae slammed his fist on the table. “Excuse me?”
    “I don’t really see how men would find you that good.”
    Flambae scowled. “As if your pathetic, bitchless ass would be able to appreciate it.”

    Or: Robert doesn’t believe Flambae when he says he’s that good in bed. Flambae takes this as a personal challenge.

    He blinked at the flame hero for a few beats, eyeing the cigarette between his long, thick fingers. Flambae leaned closer into Robert's space with a playful smirk before exhaling another plume of cigarette smoke in his face. The dispatcher inhaled in tandem.

    “You know, if you wanted a cig, all you had to do was ask, Mecha-Dick.” Flambae implored, noticing the way he stared at his half-done cigarette intently.

    “Can you put that out on me?”
