“Oh my god!” Rich said, words caught on incredulous laughter as he pulled back, “Oh my god - what? He’s an asshole!”
“As I was saying,” Mark started again, louder, “I don’t know if that’s the best model for you. It’s got a very… unique personality matrix, and we haven’t been able to get into its software to reset it. It's also got some issues with its memory drives. We’re not even sure it’s street legal and I doubt that you’ll be able to find anyone that can even do maintenance on it. It’s already got some facial scarring we can’t do shit about.”
“Wow, can I see?” Richie asked.
“Can you mind your business?” it replied.
(Or: Eddie finds himself with large chunks of his memory missing. Richie needs a babysitt- uh, personal assistant. What's meant to be a win win situation leaves 4 dead, 27 injured.)

Yoshiki can see how hard he’s trying to calm himself down, but it just isn’t working.

He has no clue how any of this works, but maybe a half-measure is better than trying to force it all at once.
“Okay,” Hikaru says, but it sounds like a sob. More of the unknowable, incomprehensible swirl leaks out into the dark room.
“Yoshiki – shit – ‘m sorry but can I…” Hikaru’s face – what’s visible behind the bloom of him – twists in a small kind of agony. “Can I touch you? Not much. Just – ”
It's been years since Hikaru first took the body of Yoshiki's dead best friend. Despite everything - every horror and hurt - they managed to find a home in each other. Not quite friends or family. More and not. What they have is complicated, but precious.
