Summary
He wades in it now, eyes still open, fixed on the speckled ceiling, begging himself not to crave bomb blasts and artillery fire in his childhood bedroom. Although…there might be something beautiful about it all, Johnny supposes, those noises in the thick. The gasps in between discharge that say: I’m here, I’m a part of this song too.
After a near-fatal injury, John MacTavish finds himself back in his hometown in Scotland. Fresh off an untimely discharge, he's forced to cope with disability, his dysfunctional family, and the lingering knowledge that there are some things he's just not ready to leave behind...

Summary
So there Ed is, in this enormous room all decked out in ivory and gold, surrounded by one-percenters and inherited wealth and fucking caviar. And he sits under a canopy of twinkling crystals, and he plays his mood music, and the room slowly fills.
And the bride and groom are nowhere to be seen.
Ed’s starting to feel more and more like a member of the string quartet playing out the sinking of the fucking Titanic.
(Or: Ed's the harpist at a swanky wedding that's gone south. Stede's got his own problems. A one-night fastburn meet-cute: fluff, humour, eventual smut, and a truly obscene description of caviar)

Summary
The thing is, when you’re Blackbeard you’ve got kind of a reputation to uphold. When you captain a ship, when you lead a crew, when people look up to you, tell stories, build a legend – parts of that legend are always more accurate than others.
And maybe you just let it slide, some of the things people say. Some of the things they assume. Maybe you swagger around and wear black leather and are a handsy bastard and let the stories tell themselves.
Maybe you don't want to talk about it.

Summary
Ed, 43, is an ex-convict and successful artist. Stede wanders into Boodhari's gallery one day and Ed's never been more drawn to a person in his life.
Only problem is, Stede won't let himself have Ed. Stede has a secret and Ed has absolutely no fucking patience for it.
OR
Ed has a bunch of chance encounters and phone sex with some hot weirdo named Stede.“You startled me,” the man says. He's holding himself in an odd way, like he isn't afraid to fill space despite not knowing the proper way to do it. “I didn't- well, no one's ever down here.”
“No worries, mate,” Ed says with a wave of his hand. Cool. “Feel free to browse. Cut the light on your way out.”
The man doesn't move. Instead, he peers sort of suspiciously at Ed, clears his throat, and asks in a high voice, “I'm sorry, were you- were you hiding?”
“No,” Ed answers quickly.
“You were,” the man says, voice a bit more certain of itself. “You were hiding down here in the dark.”
“I wasn't.”
