Summary
Xiao's heart is pumping erratically. His shoulder is burning hot, it is on fire. It hurts so bad. Don’t stop, don’t– The traveler's arm moves along his shoulder and he grabs it tighter, desperately. Don’t leave, don’t. Aether smiles at him warmly. So warm, so warm.
A brand of molten iron is being melted into his shoulder blade and his knees buck slightly underneath him. Warm, so warm, the traveler directs a confused look at Xiao until the others land on the Chamber.
You’re leaving, please don’t leave-- I can’t breathe. The traveler lets go and it is agonizing. The heat leaves, and he is cold again instantly, the chill like icy frost. I’m so cold, please come back.
Xiao shivers in the rain, staring blankly at the traveler. He turns back, grinning oh-so brightly at Xiao. “Thank you for saving me, Xiao.” It hurts, it hurts so bad. Come back.
The voices are a chill that flows from Xiao's brain all the way down his body in waves of frostbite. He's used to them, and they'll never go away. No matter what he's tried.

“I was wondering…” Xiao said quietly, looking at the string around his finger , “What is a soulmate? I have heard it mentioned before, but I do not fully understand.”
The pair sat on a hilltop, looking out over the sprawling plains and enjoying the warm breeze off the sea.
“Ah, as it sounds, a soulmate is the mate of your soul. Two beings who complete each other and are irrevocably tied to one another.” Morax looked off into the sky with soft eyes. “Those lucky enough to have one will have a thin red thread tied on their left hand, which will connect to the other half.”
Xiao looked at him skeptically.
Xiao was not always called 'Xiao', he was not always so content with his duties, but he has always had the red thread tied around his finger leading to someone who will love him more than he could ever imagine. He just has to survive long enough to find them.

It’s quaint, in a nauseating sort of way. Polished floors glint from the gleaming honeycomb chandeliers overhead, make him squint. A few vases sprinkled here and there, filling the room with a sickeningly sweet scent – even a waffle-cone headrest framing the silken sheets of a neatly-tucked bed. Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.
It's meant to be beautiful. Luxurious. Welcoming.

Your father, a dwarf who had fled Erebor, found your mother in Bree. As a young hobbit, daughter of the Old Took, she had taken to working in The Prancing Pony where the passing travellers shared stories from the wider world. Satisfying much of her need for excitement and adventure.
It didn’t take long for the two to grow friendly, then court and in time, marry. Once she found out she was with child, the two of them moved to Buckland where they could raise the little one (you) in a quieter, safer place.
You grew up with a strong love of adventure that never faded.
This is a re-telling of The Hobbit. A slow burn Thorin/Reader story where you become part of the company and join Thorin, Bilbo and the others in the quest to re-take Erebor.

Pure Vanilla Cookie manipulated concepts he should not have. He played with his and Shadow Milk Cookie's souls. Despite his awakening and new found strength something was off all the same. His strength was draining and along his soul jam lines appeared much like the crack from when he shattered their joined soul jams and soul from Shadow Milk's. The weakness worsened until he could barely move and that is when his beast counterpart appeared before him carried by his servant Black Sapphire Cookie.

Everything.” The blond man confirmed, taking off his sunglasses to show how serious he is. “The plane tickets, meals, the hotel. What else?” he tilted his head in thought, “Never mind. The important thing is you won’t spend a single mora in this trip unless you wish to. All you have to do is to take good pictures of me for the whole duration of my vacation.” The blond leaned in as he spoke. “And you’re also going to pay me full according to my rates?” Xiao asked again, resting his arm on the table as he leaned in as well. “That’s right…and with extra bonus if I love love the photos.” The blond guy said again. This is a lot for Xiao. He leaned back on his seat, just taking it all in.
Xiao is a photographer who’s for some reason, stopped taking pictures. But then came along Aether, a guy who’s trying to hire Xiao as his personal photographer as he plans to go on a solo vacation. But that wouldn’t be a solo vacation now, right? What else could happen between the two?

But, for vegetation to return to a barren wasteland, rain from thunderstorms is necessary. A brushfire, even, to burn away the old and provide nourishment for the new… and to expose a truth that’s been present all along.
Excerpt from Chapter 1:
He stumbled as he was yanked backwards by the chain of the handcuffs, Mr. Morrison’s cruel hand having snaked under his Belstaff to assert his control. John met his eye. He nodded once, almost harshly, in the regimented yet reassuring manner of a soldier. Sherlock knew he was painfully squeezing his hands together behind his back as if to punish himself; lips bitten red and a tightly clenched jaw also betrayed the worry behind his steely façade.
“I’ll kill him,” John said, terrifyingly calm. “I’ll kill him and bring you home. I will.”
