Summary
When Circe asks Melinoë to enchant one of Scylla’s Pearls so that she may ease her descents into the Underworld, she is only too happy to oblige.
The fewer obstacles between her and Chronos, the better. All the more so if said obstacles consist of a band of Sirens led by an obnoxiously annoying sea monster with delusions of grandeur who just won’t shut up. It is a no-lose situation no matter how she looks at it, not to mention both a minor prophecy and a petition from a fellow witch whom she has always looked up to, so the words leave her lips as easy as breathing.
And then, everything goes to hell.

What if Circe had been just the slightest bit more persuasive when she asked Melinoë to curse Scylla.

Her heartbeat.

Almost frantic beneath skin and muscle.
Zatanna could actually feel it trembling there.
