Summary
Everyone learned who their soulmate was on their 10th birthday. The name of the fated match would appear somewhere on the body in black letters that would turn golden after the first time they spoke to each other.
So, when the promised day came, young Alfonse jumped out of bed after a restless night and raced to his parents' bedroom at dawn, shirt already half off, begging for them to check for the mark.
His parents, equally excited to learn about their firstborn's soulmate, shook of the remnants of sleep and did as asked. They checked his front, his back, his legs and his arms. They checked every inch of his skin. They even shaved his head in case the mark had appeared under his hair.
They found nothing.
Alfonse cried the whole day.Alfonse doesn't have a soulmate. He has wanted nothing more his whole life than to find one, but now he has to worry about the war with Embla and the Summoner called to help them. The Summoner that makes him smile and eases the pain in his chest just with her existence.

Summary
When he looked back at all the years he had known the Summoner, Alfonse could recognize that he had always been deeply fond of her. In hindsight it was embarrassing he hadn't realized his feelings sooner. That it had taken several years for him to understand his own heart.
The eye-opening, world-rattling realization hit him during Askr's annual wedding themed celebration."What do you think? Do I look stupid?" Kiran spun around in front of Alfonse, and the hem of the wedding dress flared around her. The veil wrapped around her body. Passers-by stopped to watch. An embarrassed blush dusted Kiran's cheeks pink. Alfonse opened and closed his mouth like a fish on dry land, struggling to form a coherent sentence.
"It's-"

"I-"
I love you.
"It looks good." Alfonse's voice came out choked. It must've been the heat of the sun, but his whole body felt hot.OR

Summary
