“Love?” They ask, approaching slowly, a wave of nausea washing over zem as they catch a sight of Gabriel’s mutilated back. “Love, what happened?”
“Michael.” Gabriel stammers. His face is slack, grey, and dark bags haunt his face. His violet eyes meet theirs, a dark, melancholy despair the only emotion ze can read.
“Satan…” Beelzebub breathes, crossing the room again, gently coaxing Gabriel into rolling over, letting them see the full damage. Deep gashes mar his back, each one a full centimetre across, some closer to an inch wide. The stripes reach down, right along the curve of his back, stretching across his buttocks, a few glancing across the top of his thighs.
