The boy’s big green eyes, Lily’s eyes— Severus made the connection without meaning to— peered up at him through dark, wet lashes. He was covered in bruises, his clothes stained with blood. They looked like rags the way they hung off his bony frame. It was the middle of summer, arguably one of the hottest mornings so far; the boy was still trembling.
