“I’ve got to get ya a heater. Ya can’t live like this anymore,” Zanka went on, his nose pressed firm against Jabber’s collarbone, his warm breath washing right over the bone.
Jabber went still for just a second, taking in the words, and immediately decided that he hated the idea. He did not say it out loud; instead he stayed quiet, wishing in his head that Zanka would not take that plan seriously, and would not show up one of these days carrying that thing in his arms. He did not want to take the risk. He was not willing, not under any circumstances, to lose the magic of these moments.
For Zanka, Jabber would take every ice-cold bath in the world without a single complaint. And he would keep bearing the lonely weekdays, shivering under piles of heavy blankets and aching for his touch — because he knew that emptiness was exactly what made every reunion feel so right, so perfect. The cold was the perfect excuse, the exact setting that forced Zanka to hold him like this, to cling to him as if his life depended on it.
Jabber still doesn't have hot water.

Summary
Six friends drive to a dark sky park to watch a meteor shower. Jack, who has never seen one, is the most excited. They picnic, take a group selfie despite protests, and watch lights fall from the sky with no expertise, just wonder. When the cold aggravates Jack's prosthetic leg, they silently close ranks to block wind, and Dennis elevates his foot in his lap. Jack eventually falls asleep against Robby's chest. The group decides to stay all night rather than wake him, building a nest of blankets and sleeping bags around him. They wake at dawn, help Jack to the car, and drive home with plans to return next year.

"What do you mean you're not going?"Dick clears his throat, not bothering to turn away from the screen. “I have an early day tomorrow.” Dick purses his lips together, which Tim watches through the reflection in the monitor. “Besides, it’s, uh, too cold.”
Jason bellows a laugh at that, plunking his helmet down onto a table. He saunters over to puts a hand on the back of Dick’s chair, supporting himself as he continues to laugh.
“Are you shitting me, twinkle toes? Too cold?” Jason wipes a fake tear from his eye. “You literally wore underwear outside for years. I think you’re immune to the cold.”
Laughing awkwardly, Dick rubs at the back of his neck, titters, “Yeah, I guess it’s just that old age.”

Summary
Dwarves are sturdy as stone, unmovable even by a rushing river current. Hobbits, however, are soft and light like moss, and quite easily moved by water unless they have a stone to cling to. The dwarves don't seem to remember this when they choose to cross a river on foot and don't take Bilbo's concerns seriously. The decision leads to Bilbo's life being in danger and both Dwalin and Thorin (and many of the other dwarves) feeling responsible.
