The Lesser Known Destiel Fics Collection
Welcome to the most underrated collection on AO3!! Every fic in this collection is something someone out there feels should have more views, more kudos, more comments, more love and recognition! That's our aim--connect discerning Destiel readers trying to find more diamonds in the rough to enjoy. So many surveys aim to catalog our "favorites" and "top" fics, and those are great! But let's face it, some real gems are being missed out on this way!
Enter: Us! Being a "Lesser Known Fic" is an honor. Someone loves your story so much, they want more of the world to read it!! However, if you would like your fic removed, please just message @caslostwings on Twitter or @castielslostwings on tumblr! Recs may also be submitted this way between rounds.
Fic recs are typically collected via Twitter "Rounds." The first was held in early April of 2021, and another will happen soon. You can see the original tweets by searching the hashtag #lesserknownfics.
As of now, the collection is closed, but it may be opened in the future. More recs will definitely be added!

Summary
Technically, Pamela had introduced them. It was a bit of a twisting of the facts to look at it that way, but it was how Cas always told the story. Explaining what had actually happened usually led to a list of questions he preferred not to answer, that list growing longer depending on who was doing the asking, and it was just easier to say that Pam had been the catalyst. Generally, he left it at that. Dean, on the other hand, thought the real story was much more interesting.

Summary
Dean enjoys his life in Southern California. He loves his job, has his family close by, and has some pretty awesome friends. There’s nothing in his life to complain about, so why does he feel like something is still missing?
That something comes into focus when Dean meets a dark haired, blue eyed stranger on the beach and is left feeling off kilter after their encounter. What follows is a series of random circumstances in which Dean and Castiel keep finding each other in the same place at the same time, and Dean can’t help but feel drawn in by everything that is Cas… and that’s how the dreams start.
He can’t explain it, but he dreams about Castiel often, in different time periods and of different versions of him - it’s always Cas, but it’s not always his Cas - and when the dreams begin to feel like intense deja vu, he’s not sure what to think.
But all it takes is for one dream to change everything, to force Dean to ask himself the questions he’s been avoiding. One dream will have him wondering what it all means.

Summary
Dean ran his hand down his face and headed back to his bedroom. He pulled out “Sweetcheeks'” information and grabbed his phone. After double and triple checking the number, Dean pressed the call button. He wasn't sure what to expect but took a deep breath in and out for each time the phone rang.
After several rings, the voicemail picked up:
Hello, you have reached the voicemail of Castiel Novak. I'm sorry I was unable to take your call at this time. If you could please leave your name, your number, and the reason for your call, I'll be glad to call you back as soon as possible. Have a wonderful day.
Dean frowned. The guy sounded like a decent sort. It also meant that he had probably been the other guy. As the tone sounded, Dean let out a heavy sigh and left his message.
"Hi, Castiel. I'm probably the last person on the planet you ever want to hear from, but my name is Dean, and I think we need to have a talk. It's about April. My number is (555)-555-6767. That's my cell. I'll have it on me all day, so please call as soon as you can. Thanks."

Summary
He knows Sam is right, Cas is gonna be pissed at him, but he figures maybe he can talk him down before it gets bad.
He doesn’t get the chance. As soon as he turns on the light in his room Cas is there staring daggers at him and full of that weird holy wrath thing that Dean finds both terrifying and...okay very hot.
“Cas, what-“ Cas steps into his space and cuts off his words with a scathing look.
“You were supposed to wait for me.” Cas’ voice is low, dipped into that dangerous territory where Dean starts to wonder if he’s actually in danger of being pummeled by an angel. And not in the sexy way.

Summary
Tumblr Prompt from @agusha:
So Dean lives in a huge apartment block and Cas is his new weird hot neighbor down the hall. One day Cas shows up at Dean’s door, asking if he could use his shower because he has no water at his own place for some reason.
Dean lets him use it, and when Cas comes out of the shower, wet body wrapped in a towel only, hands full of clothes, Dean almost misses the “thank you again, I have this really important date tonight”. Dean ends up not asking for his number, of course, and the next time he sees him in an elevator it’s all awkward.
Then one day Cas is there at his door again, with the same problem, and Dean can’t say no. When Cas’s still in the shower, Sam suddenly shows up, having cancelled his plans at the last minute and wanting to hang out with his brother. Imagine his surprise, when he sees a naked dude come out of Dean’s shower.
(of course, then we find out that Cas only meant to meet up with his best friend Charlie that night, and he tries to find another excuse for shower to stop by Dean’s apartment)
