‘Leaving?’ Regulus's voice pitched higher than he intended. He forced it back down, his mind racing. ‘Sirius, you're not making sense. It's the middle of the night. If Mother finds out—‘
‘She won't.’ Sirius's jaw set with determination. ‘She's passed out in the drawing room. Father is in his study, drunk. They won't notice anything until morning, and by then we'll be—‘
‘Stop.’ Regulus held up a hand, his heart pounding so hard he could feel it in his temples. ‘Just... stop. What are you saying? Where would we go?’
‘The Potters.’
Regulus felt like the ground had dropped out from beneath him. The Potters. James Potter's family.
The same James Potter who Regulus had been secretly in love with since he was eleven years old.
