Ever since they talked about all the places Yukari wanted to visit someday, Silver had already decided that wherever she wished to go, he would go with her.
And so, today was the day Silver came to pick up Yukari and Grimm from Ramshackle Dorm so they could head into town together.
“Have you already decided where you want to go today?” Silver asked in his usual calm tone.
“Of course we have! Nyehahaha!” Grimm replied cheerfully from atop Yukari’s shoulder.
Naturally, Grimm was excited. After all, every single place Yukari had listed was either a dessert shop or a toy store Grimm had been wanting to visit.
“Yes, Silver-senpai. Grimm can barely wait to go outside and eat sweets already,” Yukari added with a small laugh.
Seeing how excited the two of them were for this outing made Silver feel quietly happy as well. After all, both Yukari and Grimm had become just as precious to him as the people he cherished in Diasomnia.
Ever since Yukari agreed to date him, the two of them rarely had much private time together. Between Silver’s duties as Malleus’s guard and the fact that they were in different school years, opportunities like this were surprisingly rare.
That was why being able to spend his birthday together with Grimm and Yukari—seeing the two of them smiling happily beside him—already felt like the greatest gift he could ask for.
“Ah, your hat is crooked,” Yukari suddenly said after noticing the red beret Silver was wearing had tilted slightly to the side.
Out of habit, she reached up to fix it for him. Silver had never paid much attention to his appearance in the first place. Even with his dorm uniform, his hat was often out of place, and Yukari had long since gotten used to adjusting it for him every time she noticed.
Seeing this, Silver lowered himself slightly so the girl could fix it more easily.
And because of that, he ended up seeing his lover’s face even more clearly up close.
His gaze lingered on her storm-gray eyes, eyes that were still completely focused on carefully straightening his hat.
Without realizing it, Silver began imagining the future.
If someday she accepted his proposal—because he had already decided he would ask after she graduated—and if she came to live with him in Briar Valley alongside Grimm, then perhaps every morning before he left for duty, she would help straighten his clothes and adjust his appearance just like this.
Of course, Silver knew very well that Yukari wished to return to her own original world someday, and he never intended to stand in her way.
But even so, he could not stop himself from dreaming about that warm future where Yukari and Grimm might stay by his side in Briar Valley after they graduated.
“All done,” the girl said brightly while admiring her handiwork.
“Thank you for always fixing my hat for me,” Silver replied with a gentle smile—a rare expression for someone who usually showed little emotion on his face.
People often said that love really could change someone. Even Kalim had mentioned many times that Silver smiled far more often ever since he started dating Yukari.
“Hey, are you done yet? I wanna hurry up and go already! What if the sweets sell out, funah?!” Grimm complained impatiently, unable to wait any longer.
“Besides, even if you fix his hat now, it’s just gonna fall crooked again while we walk anyway.”
“Then let’s get going,” Silver said as he held out his hand toward Yukari.
“Yes, let’s go,” she replied before taking his hand, and the two of them walked off together.
“Nyehahaha! I’m gonna buy so many snacks to stockpile back at the dorm! And I’m not sharing any with Ace and the others as well!”
Perched on Yukari’s shoulder, Grimm giggled mischievously at his own evil little plan.
And hearing the tiny monster’s declaration made the two of them laugh along helplessly, charmed as always by the antics of the little troublemaker.
