I write for fun. It's a hobby, stress relief, and therapy all rolled into one. I refuse to stress about my writing. What you see is what you get. Errors, plot holes, and all. Feel free to point them out if you want to, but be respectful about it. I'll consider fixing them, but please don't be offended if I don't. Also, if it isn't clearly marked as part of a series or alternately a multi-chapter story, this story is a one-shot, and it is unlikely I will return to add to it in any way. No matter what you demand/beg for.

Work Text:

Rosa Hernandez woke with the sun, got ready for the day, and prepared a bottle for little Robert Nash Han, who had been awake for a while, but started to get fussy as the sun slowly rose above the horizon.

She slipped into the room the children shared, and lifted the little boy from his crib, changed his diaper, and carried him with her from the bedroom to the kitchen to get his bottle from the warmer.

Rosa hummed softly under her breath as she carried him, keeping the boy calm and interested in what was going on. He was industrially sucking on his pacifier, but it was clear he wouldn't allow himself to be distracted for long.

The day before had been so exhausting to him, he had slept through his midnight and early morning feeds, and Rosa figured he needed the sleep more than anything else.

She routinely checked the temperature of the bottle against the inside of her wrist before offering it to the little boy after taking his pacifier.

"BOBBY? BOBBY!!!" Jee-Yun screamed in the bedroom. The four-year-old stumbled out of the bedroom with wide, wild eyes. "Where is my brother?"

Philippe snatched her up before she could take a tumble and carried her downstairs, settling her on his hip.

"Your brother is with my wife, darling girl," he explained gently, after making sure she focused on him for a moment despite her panic. "He slept through the night, and desperately needed a change and a bottle."

Jee-Yun blinked at him, carefully taking in the words of the man holding her.

"So he isn't gone?" She asked, her voice sounding small.

Philippe shook his head and nodded down the hallway, where Rosa appeared with Robert in her arms, still feeding him.

"See? They were already on their way back to you," he said gently.

Jee-Yun reached for her brother, and touched him to make sure he was real before she burst into tears, overwhelmed by everything going on.

Philippe didn't shush her, but he gently rocked her in his arms.

"I want Uncle Buck," she whined.

Philippe shared a look with Rosa.

"We don't have your uncle's number," he told the girl in his arms as he settled on the sofa with her, right beside his wife and her little brother. "But we can ask Mrs Parker if she has it and if we are allowed to contact him."

He wasn't sure how much she understood, but he didn't want to lie to her.

"Please," she begged, fat tears rolling down her cheeks.

Rosa nodded, and Philippe stood with her, grabbing his phone from the charging mat beside the landline phone. He typed a message to Allison Parker, telling Jee-Yun they were reaching out to her, but that it was quite early in the day and he wasn't sure if she was up yet, due to the late night they all had had yesterday.

Jee didn't look all that happy about not getting what she wanted immediately, but her stomach growled and she needed to pee, which she told Philippe, who took her into the bathroom and asked her if she needed help, before heading into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for her, his wife, and himself.

They had just finished breakfast when his phone chimed with a message from Allison Parker. It contained a phone number and the advice to introduce themselves via message first before attempting a video call.

Philippe, who was holding Robert, shared a look with his wife, and she smiled.

"I'll send your uncle a message and ask him to call us, when he is available, okay?" she told Jee-Yun, who still didn't look too happy, but at least a little happier.

"Thank you," the little girl said. "'Preciate it."

Rosa smiled and did as she had promised. Once she was done writing the message, she asked Jee-Yun if she wanted to go outside and play.

"There's a rope swing underneath the tree house," she said while helping her put on her shoes, when the girl nodded happily.

"Can Bobby come?" she asked.

"For a couple of minutes," Rosa agreed. "Fresh air will be good for both of you."

Jee-Yun hummed and held on to Rosa's hand as they walked outside. Philippe followed them, with Robert falling asleep in his arms.

For a few minutes, Jee-Yun forgot her sorrows, as she was allowed to just be a child.
