Chapter Text
Silver Vanrouge was very young when he noticed he was not like the others, no matter how Sebek constantly complained on how 'oblivious' he is. Growing up surrounded by faes can make you realize a lot of things, like how his ears are not sharp and pointy like the others, or how he was not granted the talent or magic like the other faes, or even how his lifespan is very obviously shorter than the others. Despite all those differences, he knew he was very much loved by his father, Malleus and Sebek, yet all those changed when he enrolled into an all-fae school. After multiple years of getting homeschooled by Lilia in their little cottage in the middle of the forest, Lilia decided to let him interact with his peers.
Unfortunately, those three years are the worst years of Silver's life, after all being a human in an all fae school has its disadvantage. All of the memories he has consisted of hard shove into lockers wrapped in the excuse of 'teasing', private sessions of physical assault and whispers from other students mocking him or judging him. And Silver, being the kind-hearted soul he is, chose to absorbed everything in secret with the label 'not wanting to get anyone in trouble' stick on it. That is, until Lilia bought him a laptop containing a digital music software.
"It allows you to create music and melodies without the need for any physical instruments" was what Lilia said as he showed 14-year-old Silver how it works, taking note of the shine unhidden underneath Silver's eyes. "An online friend of mine introduced this software to me when I mentioned that you like making random melodies in your head." continued Lilia, demonstrating which sound belongs to which instrument. Suddenly, he felt arms wrapped around his shoulders as Silver leaned in to hug the older male. Various "Thank you" spilled out of Silver's mouth before he took the laptop from Lilia's hand and went to his room to start working on his new project.
Silver was amazed by how multiple sounds could create a piece of melodious music, and including the combination of lyrics, it turned into a song made by heaven itself. Amidst it all, he realized something that will changed his life forever.
"If I could create a song that could reach those who are an outcast just like me, would I be able to save them once and for all?"
That is the start of Silver's encounter with music and also his first encounter with social media.
As the clock slowly struck 11 at night, the halls of Diasomnia has became horrifyingly quiet as every students began retiring back to their respective rooms for the night, either to finished up their homework or tuck in early. That is till a creak and a door being quietly clicked shut echoed through the silent hall, footsteps could be heard trekking down the corridor till it reached the lounge room where it shared the same silent as the rest of the place in the dorm. A student, seemingly a second year, make his way to a small corner of the lounge where a small space could be spotted hidden underneath a bunch of thick curtains. The curtains were then opened up to revealed a small room where a laptop stood there with multiple sheets of music notes and lyrics spread out on the table, the window covered majority of the wall allows the beautiful rays of moonlight to entered. The moonlights blended into the student's silver hair, elevating his beauty as he sat down on the floor after closing the curtains, his hoodie enveloped him in warmth as the laptop screen lights up. Though the name 'Silver' could be seen etched at the surface of the laptop.
Silver quickly resumed working on his unfinished music composition as he struggled to complete the music he had spent nearly a month on it when he usually completed it in a week or two. "No, this melody does not fit this part, which was kind of a pity, I really want to try pairing them together." Silver muttered to himself when he heard a small rustle coming from the curtain and Lilia's head popped out teasingly.
"Father, what are you doing here? Do you need something?" questioned the silver-haired boy as he paused his work to shift his full attention on Lilia.
"Well, my sweet son. I just wanted to wished you good night before I retire to my room. Make sure to not stay up too late, ya." Lilia said with a large smile on his face, Silver just gave a small smile and a slight nod as a signal that he will take Lilia's word in mind before Lilia closed back the curtains. Although he knows that Lilia will also stayed up till the dusk of dawn just like him, playing games with his online best friend of a few years, but knowing that Lilia is just looking out for his health and all, he still felt a sense of gratitude in his heart.
After their conversation, Silver placed back his focus towards the screen, taking note of the time which stated 11:30. 'There's still 1 and a half hour left till the meeting, let's hope that I can get it done till then.' was the last thought Silver had before he heard a notification sound popped out of his screen. His mouse clicked on a closed tab and a website with the name of 'Nightcord' appeared on his screen. He clicked on one of the three icons on his screen, the icon has an image of a maple leaf and the profile has the word 'Kaede' right beside it.
Kaede: Hey, S. I noticed you are online so I was hoping you could look over the lyrics I just finished. Can't wait for the finished composition btw!! /UwU/
Kaede: *file attached*
'Oh, Kaede is online now.'
S: Ok, thanks. I'll look over it now.
Kaede: <3 <3
The moment the file in front of Silver, he started looking through the lyrics, trying to analyze it while also seeing what he adjustments he could make to fit the lyrics.
"These lyrics are pretty deep, yet also had the hint of hope hidden inside it. It's very well written." said Silver when he accidentally stumbled onto something that left him with confusion.
"Wait, is that a typo? Or was it intentional? I better asked Kaede about it later." Silver decided to leave it be and resumed reading the lyrics, which he must say he was once again impressed by how these lyrics could easily blend into the composition that he was still in progress of finishing it. And suddenly he felt a surge of inspiration entered his body and he quickly went back to work, now gain some insights on how to complete the music composition.
As time quickly flew by, the clock now strikes 12:55, yet Silver was too lost in his thoughts to realize the time despite it being showcased at the corner of his screen. Only when Silver was finally done with his work, slowly took his time to stretch and rest his eyes as a result from staring at the screen for too long, when he saw the time on his screen that came with another notification popped up on his screen, noting a meeting link has been sent to a groupchat. Seeing that, Silver entered the meet in the blink of an eye where he saw the same maple leaf icon in the meet already.
S: Good morning, Kaede. How are you?
That was what Silver said when he opened his mic before closing it to wait for the other to reply. That is when a bubbly, energetic voice could be heard coming out from the mic of Kaede.
Kaede: S!! Nice to meet you and I'm doing very well.
Silver could not help but let out a chuckle upon hearing the other's active voice despite currently being 1 in the morning.
S: That's good to hear, but it seems that the others are not here yet.
Kaede: Don't worry. We can wait for awhile.
S: Indeed, you are right.
As Silver saw the rest two icons on his other tab had light up, signaling their online now, he looked back to the meet knowing that something is about to happened soon. Silver looked out from the window, gazing the beautiful night sky as a thought that appeared once too many times popped up in his head once again.
'Guess it's time to create songs... ...songs that could save someone.'
