Work Text:
‘Game Over. Would you like to restart the level?’
Three weeks. Idia has been stuck on the same level of his new ‘Attack on Underworld Titan’ (AUOT for short) for three whole fucking weeks. He didn’t even take this long to save the world so why is it that he simply cannot clear a video game level?
Well, actually, the answer was simple really. You see, it wasn’t that Idia had somehow lost all his supersonic finger tapping speed, nor was it a laggy PC or shitty wifi, it’s not even the lack of sleep from pulling all nighters every two days, it was the fact the final titan boss had silver hair.
…
Idia didn’t even know titans could have hair. And it wasn’t like the titan’s hair was good looking, in fact it looked worse than the current state of his room (which was bad) but the fact that it was just SILVER was enough to drive Idia mental. Anytime he was about to deal the finishing move, the titan would flair up as it’s last power up move, and along with it his silver hair would burn up and Idia couldn’t fucking stop thinking about how that was basically Idia’s fire head on silver hair and one of the sevens forbid he imagined his future child with silver hair and the Shroud family’s curse. A child with burning silver hair.
Yes, in other words, anytime Idia was playing AOUT he kept imaging what his and Silver’s future child would look like. Not that there was even a possibility of them having a future child, regardless of whether or not males could get pregnant and give birth but Idia had already accepted himself as the ‘extra geek nerd character with no love life but has an unrequited love for the school’s most handsome guy only made to amplify his attractiveness, shounen ai, 5 chapters with an extra posted onto the artist’s Magicam account, manga’. Or, in a less convoluted way for the normies, Idia Shroud has a massive fucking crush on Silver Vanrouge.
Idia has heard it before, ‘love makes you stupid’ or how someone can always be ‘blinded by love’, and if he was being downright honest he fully believed that such sayings were an excuse, all those fools who were ‘lovestruck’ simply had skill issues. They couldn’t fathom not being the best, so they threw the most illogical reasoning as a defense system, they threw the concept of ‘love’, an item that couldn’t be collected and analyzed, couldn’t be read, and couldn’t be altered to protect all their pussy minds from feeling inferior. This must be his karma now, incapable of finishing a single game level because of that so-called illogical reasoning.
Idia sighed, leaning back against his gaming chair. Seriously, how did he even end up here? It was only a while ago when they had their first encounter, the sleeping beauty surrounded by his kingdom of animals, protected by the warmth of the big oak tree, and loved by the kindness of the sun. Idia had simply caught a glance of this, and maybe to any other passerby, it would’ve just looked like a fellow schoolmate sleeping (or maybe not considering how ethereal Silver is), but to Idia, it was as if Silver’s one breath gave life to all those around him. By simply breathing, Silver was able to draw out the natural beauty of the world. For Idia, a genius lives surrounded by the artificial creations of human kind, the simple picture of the younger boy sleeping made him see how much greener the grass was in comparison to circuit boards, it made him realize simply how pretty light blue looked on the open sky as opposed to Styx’s headquarters. Idia always loved small animals, but only until seeing them with Silver did he understand how adorable it was to have them love you back. Silver, just by existing, helped Idia find hope in the world that once took his brother away. From then on, Idia’s eyes (or tablet screen, but they’re basically the same thing) would try and locate the knight’s coordinates whenever he was aware of his presence. He would roam the courtyard by just a millisecond longer than he needed to (only on the rare occasions he was even out), in hopes of finding the sophomore.
Yeah no, screw ‘Idia Shroud has a massive fucking crush on Silver Vanrouge’, Idia Shroud fucking yearns for Silver Vanrouge. The housewarden has no doubts that if the first year “Idia” he saw the current version of himself, he would never stop keyboard spamming the letters surrounding “H” and “A” and his blue hair would probably evaporate from hardcore laughter. Thank god that technology doesn't exist yet, Idia looks horrible bald.
He was fucking pathetic. “Ortho.” Idia said, but there was only silence that followed.
“Ortho??” Still no reply.
Oh, right, Ortho had his own room now, ever since he was officially enrolled at NRC, Crowley had agreed to give him his own room. Idia pushed himself off the gaming chair, the chair rolling back as a response to his force, as he efficiently slipped past the hallways of his dorm to find his brother. Well, it wasn’t hard considering the dorm was basically empty, thank sevens for introverts!!
Several moments later Idia found himself in front of the humanoid’s dorm, knocking three times before the door swung open, revealing the younger Shroud, dressed in his NRC uniform with a surprised look on his face. “Nii-san? Are you coming to class today?” He asked, eyes obviously sparkling.
“Uh, yeah. I figured I needa get out of my room sometime, youknowwhatimean…” Idia avoided his brother's gaze.
Ortho only smirked “You sure you’re not on a side quest Nii-san? Studying is important too remember! But geniuses like you don’t need studying after all.” He raised his hands up to cover his shielded mouth, letting out a slight chuckle. The tips of Idia’s hair started burning pink, gaze even more frantic now.
“W–whatever! Let’s just go! Class is starting soon!”

“Idia-senpai.”
Deep breaths Idia, you can do this. You can save the world from Malleus-shi’s arcane realm, you can rebuild the human brain, you can even burn blot. You can fucking do this. And even if you can’t you won’t fuck this up because this is even more fucking rare than pulling three SSRs in a row.
Idia awkwardly turned back, lips slightly lifting revealing an awkward smile. “Y-yes S-Silver-shi?” ABORT ABORT ABORT. Alarm bells started going off in Idia’s head immediately. Silver looked way too fucking pretty to be able to talk to. Idia couldn’t do this. He fully turned his body to face Silver, but kept his eyes furiously locked on the crack in the corner of the ceiling, avoiding Silver’s everything at all costs.
Silver glanced down momentarily, before lifting his eyes back up to face Idia, Idia swears he saw Silver’s eyelashes flutter. Fuck. “Could I ask a favor of you, senpai?” !?$&@?@&! Idia doesn’t think he’s ever blanked out this hard in his life. Even when he had to give live presentations at the VDC he was still cognate (so what if he was cheating? That’s none of your business Riddle). Idia’s mental search engine immediately searched his memory history for all the times he’s searched the internet on ‘ways to speak to your crush’ or ‘how to get pretty boy to speak to you’ but instead of giving him the proper answers, his brain screen decided to swipe to the next page, the recent shoujo manga that Idia had been reading.
“He’s so nonchalant and cool! Don’t you think that makes him extra handsome?” Said the MC’s childhood friend. Brain scan complete. Answer to question ‘How to talk to crush?’: be nonchalant.
“Yeah, what?” Nonchalant, be nonchalant Idia. Nonchalant, you are nonchalance. Nonchalance is you.
“Could you help teach me how to game?” Silver awkwardly asked, eyes now going back to avoiding Idia’s face. “My father always calls me to play but I end up dying within the first few minutes.” Silver sighed, hands rising to rub the back of his head.
Compared to speaking with pretty boys, Idia was much more confident in the concept of gaming. Granted he was still speaking to the world’s prettiest boy but he could hold a conversation on this topic. “Oh, yeah of course!” Idia found the words smoothly rolling off his tongue. “What games have you guys been playing?” he asked the shorter boy.
“Recently, father has been playing this game called ‘Attack on Underworld Titan’. I would like to learn how to play the game before he has the chance to ask me so I could surprise him.”
Fuck. Why did it have to be THAT game of all the ones?
“Yeah, sure, I just finished playing it the other day. I’m practically a pro now.” Idia bluffed.
“Really? Then could you help teach me, senpai?” Silver’s auroral eyes sparkled. Fuck. Direct damage to HP levels, Idia could feel his power draining.
“Yeah, ‘course.” Idia paused for a moment. “So, my–” Idia swallowed up his next words. Hell no. No way he was about to ask Diasmonia sophomore, Silver Vanrouge, son of Lilia Vanrouge, source of Idia Shroud’s stupidity to hang out in his room. What kind of extra got this lucky?? Idia thanked the sevens he decided to come to class today. Idia took another big gulp. “My place after school then?” If his hair wasn’t burning pink then, the floral color was certainly evident now. However, the pink was not singled out, it equally met it’s match on the younger’s cheeks.
“Yes. I will meet you in the hall of mirrors after class.”
Damage restored. HP now at full level.
Idia didn’t trust himself if he opened his mouth to reply, fearing that he would’ve confessed his love right then and there, so instead, he opted for putting his thumbs up, red flames burning at each thumb. He watched the shorter boy slightly nod, and walk off. After re-assessing that Silver was finally out of sight, Idia let out a sigh of relief, only to raise both his hands up to grip the ashlocks of hair on his head, and start freaking out. His crush was going to hang out in his room, and play on his PC. This was way better than the stars aligning, even winning a shoutout from Premo couldn’t compare to this.
“Yahoo~ is that your loverboy I see?” A voice spoke from behind Idia, startling him.
“C-Cater-shi.” Idia stuttered out. Cater, who was dressed in his dorm uniform, leaned in, a smirk hidden behind the hand covering his mouth as he glanced over to Idia.
“Idy-senpai is trying to make some moves, isn’t he?” Idia immediately shot up, turning around fully to face Cater.
“W-what are you on about? I’m simply completing a mission!! It was given to m-me so of course I have to fulfill the requirements. And the l-location was just the most optimal choice, with all the correct loot and resources.” Idia has basically rapped out, a futile attempt to wipe the now visible smirk on Cater’s face.
“I dunno..seems to me like somebody was trying to…” Idia’s hair, although it didn't change color, burned more fiercely than usual.
“I was not!” Cater only laughed in response.
“Goodluck Idia-chan, don’t forget to update Cay-cay on how the date goes” Cater winked.
“It is not a date! It’s a mission! A mission!” Idia, hair now shaded in a peony color, yelled out to his classmate.
˚★.𖥔 ݁ ˖ִ ࣪⚝₊ ⊹˚
Despite what Idia had told Cater, this was basically a date wasn’t it?? Two boys alone in a room, sharing a screen (Idia was teaching Silver how to play AOUT), close in proximity (Idia was teaching Silver how to play AOUT), conversing by themselves about a common topic both had interest in (again, Idia was teaching Silver how to play AOUT), this was practically a fucking date! (No Idia, you are just teaching Silver how to play AOUT!). Idia was pacing around the halls, walking back and forth between mirror to mirror, muttering out anxious worries about how their date study season will go. “Idia-senpai! Sorry I’m late, my club ended later than usual today.” Holy fucking shit. If Idia saving Sage island from Malleus’s overblot gave him the chance to speak to Silver, then Idia must’ve saved three galaxies in his past life to have been given the chance to see Silver in a low ponytail. It seems the younger boy forgot to let down his hair, rushing to get to the hall of mirrors as quickly as possible.
“N-np.” Idia stuttered out, gaze once more avoiding Silver, in fear of his heart beating so loud it will jump out through his mouth. “Letsgo.” Idia grabbed Silver’s wrist (NOT without thinking, he had been thinking about this for a while actually, the thought appeared when he reached the Scarabia mirror during his pacing around. Ideally, he would’ve grabbed Silver’s hands and interlaced their fingers, or better yet, his waist, but Idia was too pussy to do that) as he pulled the both of them through Ignihyde’s mirror.
Upon entering through the mirror, Silver’s eyes roamed the place. It was much more different from what he was used to in Diasomnia. Ignihyde was much more modern, technology integrated into every aspect of the dorm. It was only until they reached the housewarden’s door did Silver return back to the reason as to why he was here in the first place. Idia lifted his palm up, unlocking his door through some sort of finger print scanner, and the door automatically opened for both of them to enter through.
“D-don’t mind the mess.” Idia awkwardly shrugged, unsure of how Silver would react to the books and comics piled on his desk and bed. “It’s fine. My father also collects a lot of things so his room has limited space as well. Besides, your room isn’t that messy.” Idia felt warm. Of course the boy could drag the charm of nature even the the coldest bits of Idia’s life.
“So…AOUT right?”
“Huh?”
“Attack on Underworld Titan, AOUT for short.”
“Oh, yes. That is the game my father introduced me to recently.”
“Well, you’re just in luck Silver-shi. I’m just about as top notch as it gets in video games. No one on sage island–no, in the entire multiverse could beat me.” Idia doesn’t add that he’s been defeated by the very same silver hair that was in his room multiple times. He also wasn’t going to mention how he basically substituted in a clone in class and afterschool club time to rush back to his room to tidy (sort of) it and grind AOUT until he finally beat that bastard boss of a titan (the lovable future son of him and Silver).
“Yes, I know you’re really good at gaming, Idia-senpai. That’s why I wanted you to teach me. Thank you again for accepting.” Silver nodded to Idia. Idia immediately turned away. Today was the day Idia Shroud found out the human head, like, the literal head could be so adorable.
Idia let out a cough, before starting. “So, Silver-shi, there are many external factors that can affect game mobility, intellect and efficiency. In order to ensure optimal performance in games, you first need to make sure you’re in the right environment. Gaming is like coding, if you aren’t familiar with the software, then while it’s still possible to code quickly, it would be much more efficient and you would also probably yield better results if you were to use a software you’re comfortable with.” Silver only nodded in response, intently listening to Idia’s words.
“The chair is the most important part of gaming. You need a chair that is comfortable, stable, and won’t move around while you’re typing the keys.” Idia smirked. “That is why, I present to you, SALLY C, short for ‘self assisting long life chair’. It’s made with the best quality materials to ensure that your butt doesn’t get sore even when sitting for a long time. Luckily for you, I brought two over when I first moved in. Kept one for Ortho, but since he has his own room now I have a spare Sally left over.” Idia pushed the chair out for Silver, urging him to sit. Once Silver sat in the chair, Idia pushed it back in, positioning Silver in front of his large PC screen.
Idia’s hair tinged pink at the view; Silver sitting on his creation, one that he used everyday for gaming and other things as well…
Idia shook his head, shaking the thoughts out of his mind. We’re here for educational purposes only. This is PG13. “You comfy?” Silver turned his head back to face the junior, nodding. “Good.” Idia then moved past Silver to grab the keyboard and pull it closer to Silver, aware that he had shorter limbs so it would be harder to reach where Idia usually placed his hands. “Next, try the keyboard. Familiarize yourself with it. Here, just start typing anything.” Idia opened up a random search tab for Silver to start typing. Now that was mistake number one. Right below the search bar, was Idia’s past search history, and amidst all the Premo website accounts, gaming related search and just basic coding (it was nowhere near basic, if Idia had to search it on google then the average human shouldn’t even dream of achieving it) was the missing piece he tried to hard to search for in his memory data just a few hours earlier. “how to talk to ur crush” the text read out. Idia immediately freaked out, and without Silver having said anything yet, immediately jumped on defense. “T-this is just normal search s-stuff o-okay? I-uhm-I just n-needed to know what m-my uhh g-game character likes? Y-yeah! You know the Otome games where you date someone? I just–uh wanted to understand how to talk to them a bit better!” Idia’s hair, edges now pink once more, was flaring up. His panic is obvious in every aspect of his body language. Silver only stared blankly at the words on screen, then turned back to Idia.
“It’s fine, senpai, I didn’t mean to intrude in your private matters. It’s my fault, I’m sorry.” Idia could’ve been imagining it but Silver looked slightly…sad? His lips were pouting and his gaze was downcasted, refusing to make eye contact with Idia.
Fuck, Idia deserves to go to hell for making him sad. This is over. He’s never gonna come back, forget extra in a manga, Idia’s been demoted outside of the manga. He’s not even a face there anymore.
Silver however, sat back up, and started typing on the screen. He wasn’t as fluent as Idia (obviously) but one could tell the boy still had experience. “Huh” Idia leaned in, one arm rested on the top of Sally C, the other testing the compressive strength of his table, as he basically rested his entire bodyweight on that arm. “You’re quite proficient at this Silver-shi.” Idia looked over to Silver, cheeks slightly dusted in a pearl like color.
“Thank you. Sometimes I use the computer to help my dad search for things, so I’m quite familiar with typing.” Idia looked back over to the screen. Any more time spent staring at Silver would’ve decreased his lifespan significantly. It was also harmful to HP levels as rejuvenating as it felt.
“Then in that case, we should just get started.” Idia moved the arm resting on Sally behind Silver’s back to grab the mouse, clicking away from the tab, as he moved the other arm to the keyboard to start typing for AOUT. Only until reaching the loading page did Idia realize the position they were in. Idia was basically hovering over Silver’s entire back, he could smell the soft cedarwood shampoo Silver was using. His hand, the one on the mouse, was also hovering over Silvers. It seemed like Silver didn’t take his hand off the house when Idia grabbed it. Idia immediately pulled himself back, both arms raised as if he had done something wrong. “I-I-I opened the game for you Silver-shi!” Eyes frazzled, Idia was now outwardly panicking as if he had been accused of doing something wrong. He quickly grabbed his own Sally and sat down beside Silver.
Silver simply laughed in response. “It’s okay Idia-senpai. I don’t mind.” Sevens, had they sent the embodiment of everything good to Idia’s room? Is this their way of thanking him for being the genius that he is. Nonchalant Idia, remember, nonchalant. Idia quickly gathered himself. “Right, so once the screen finishes loading we can get started.”
If Idia had to rate the experience so far, it would be as if his favorite game from childhood had rebooted with new additional levels. It was a wonderful fucking experience. Not only had they been freely conversing, but Idia was barely struggling, using all his game knowledge to fill in the awkward silence. Of course, it helped greatly that his student was the worlds best fucking listener and retainer ever, and possibly the only other person that Idia would be willing to spend time with. Amidst his mental celebrations, Idia’s phone vibrated, the loud ding echoing within his pocket. He took out his phone only to find a message from a certain orange headed classmate whos name rhymes with later as in Idia should’ve responded to his message LATER.

IDIA????? [Error. Message not delivered.]
Idia quickly pocketed his phone, face clearly red. How dare Cater even imply such vile and corrupted actions geared towards the lovely angel sat at his desk. Idia looked up, to find Silver already staring back at him. His gaze was rather intense? Idia shook his head, it was probably how normal people without social anxiety functioned. Idia couldn’t really understand. “Wanna continue?” he asked. Silver nodded, but still kept his gaze on Idia. Idia momentarily glanced at the boy’s rosy lips. Quickly Idia turned his head away, hair once more flushed. This was all Cater’s fault for putting certain thoughts about the sophomore in Idia’s head.
Idia leaned back against his own chair, letting out a long breath. He parted his legs as he settled into the gaming chair, one hand coming up to brush away his hair. Calm down Idia. Silver only continued to blankly stare at Idia. Then, a moment later, there was a loud crash coming from his feet. Silver’s gaming chair had broken. The leg of the chair completely snapped off. Idia immediately sat back up, face laced with concern. “Silver!? Are you okay!?” Silver however, appeared uninjured, as if he had predicted that the chair would break. He was already standing on his two feet before the chair even fully hit the floor.
“Idia-senpai.”
“Y-yes?”
“The chair broke.”
“Yes, I-I can see that.” Idia was a bit puzzled, he had built the chair himself, using top quality material to ensure maximum comfort and stability, it was supposed to hold even the heaviest titan, how did it easily break? Idia was sure he calculated the probability of obsolescence accurately, perhaps the material was prone to more wear and tear than he thought.
“You said that to game well I need to sit in a proper chair, since I don’t have a chair anymore could I sit on yours?”
“O-oh yeah sure, of course. Here you go.” Idia put his hands on the arm of the chair, ready to stand up only to be interrupted by a pair of strong hands pushing his shoulder back down on the chair. “Huh?” Idia glanced up, to see Silver intensely staring back at him.
“It’s fine-senpai, you can stay seated in the chair. I will sit on your lap.”
HUH?!?!??!!!?
Without the chance to properly respond, Silver had propped himself on Idia’s lap however, he was stiffer than a board. His back straighter than Idia will ever be. Idia started malfunctioning. All the clockworks and gears in his mind stop moving, having all been replaced with the words “Silver” “lap” and “fuck”. After a moment of internal mayhem, Idia noticed Silver had stopped moving as well, frozen stiff. He could tell the boy didn’t really know what he was doing (not that Idia knew either but). They both sat there for a few seconds before Idia let out a sigh. He used his long legs and arms to pull the both of them closer to the desk. Silver seemed initially startled when Idia placed a hand on his waist, steadily holding him to ensure he didn’t lose balance as they were moving, but he quickly collected himself.
Once they were both pushed further closer to the desk, Idia looked over to Silver, only then could he see the clear blush on Silver’s cheek. He looked over to his own hands, still holding onto the curve of Silver’s waist. He quickly removed it. “S-sorry.” Silver only blushed further at his words. “Uh, are you–” Idia gulped. “You comfy?” Silver only nodded in response. Truly, a man of a few words.
The two continued on playing, and Idia has never felt more grateful Silver wasn’t one to react physically to jumpscares. It wasn’t that AOUT had a lot of jumpscares, but if Silver had started shifting and moving in Idia’s lap, Idia doesn’t think he has it in himself to hold himself back. This must’ve been a new form of torture. A lap cat so agonizingly still, to the point which Idia didn’t know if he was thankful or dreading it.
An hour or two later Silver had asked to excuse himself, saying he needed to return for dinner with his father. He slowly got up from Idia’s lap, almost as if he was reluctant to leave. Idia on the other hand, rejoiced at the freedom while equally mourning the loss. Silver bid his farewells as Idia brought him to the hall of mirrors, before disappearing into his own dorm. After confirming that Silver had successfully returned to Diasomnia, Idia made a sprint for his own bathroom.
˚★.𖥔 ݁ ˖ִ ࣪⚝₊ ⊹˚
Upon entering Diasomnia, Silver let out a large sigh, bringing one a hand to rub his temples. “What am I doing…acting so rashly like that. Father would be disappointed.” Silver hadn’t even asked Idia for basic consent, he just sat in his lap so brazenly. He blushed at the memory of Idia’s warm palm over his own waist. Fingers so long it could basically stretch over the entirety of Silver’s body. His pacing speed increased significantly, urgent to return to the privacy of his shared room.
“Silver, where are you going walking so fast like that?” A question popped up behind him. Having the nocturnal fae for a father was the main reason as to why Silver was so immune to jumpscares, after all, Lilia had been randomly popping up in all the corners all throughout his life. Silver simply turned back to face his father. “Nothing…I was just feeling a bit tired.” Lilia’s eyes widened, before slyly smirking, as if he caught on immediately (of course he would, afterall, he raised the sleepyhead). Silver avoided his father’s gaze, making a beeline straight to his own room. At this point, Silver could feel the heat pooling up on his face.
Upon entering his room, he pulled out his magical pen and changed into pajamas straight away. He had already showered before visiting Idia’s room. Silver’s face once again heated up, it wasn’t like he was expecting anything, it’s just that he was sweating after training with Vorpal, and he didn’t want to show up to a superior’s room all sticky. It was purely for the sake of cleanliness. The newly purchased cedarwood perfume was also recently introduced into that package of cleanliness.
As Silver closed his eyes, his mind started to drift off the the earlier events of the day. From when he first woke up, with just 12 minutes to spare for his first class, to when he first approached Idia in the lockers, in hopes of getting closer to the junior. His thoughts then started approaching the luminescent blue that covered the Ignihyde hallways, and simultaneously, Idia’s own room. The two plushies carefully placed on Idia’s counter, colors that reminded him of his own father and Sebek. Idia’s long fingers which carefully grasped the dip of Silver’s waist, his solid thighs that supported the sophomore’s bodyweight. The glow of amber yellow that shifted occasionally between Silver and the screen, a gaze so strong that it made Silver want to shrivel up, but at the same time induced selfish desires from him, wanting to be the only person Idia ever looks at again. Silver gasped, bringing a hand to his mouth, he’s never had such thoughts. Quickly, he shakes his head and tries to think of something else. However, the only thing that came to mind was Idia’s smile and subtle blush when he was on his phone that evening. It didn’t take a detective to know Idia was messaging someone, afterall, his phone was constantly vibrating, and his long fingers were struggling to type the pads of his keyboard in the handphone that looked especially miniature in Idia’s grasp. Silver felt a pang in his heart. Who was he texting?
That night, Silver fell asleep thinking of the heat that radiated from Idia’s hair, warmth englufing him. Only after the young boy had surrendered to his own lethargy did the nocturnal fae enter the room, silently sitting beside his bed. Lilia brought his hand up and started twirling the silver hair locks on his son’s head. He stayed there for an hour, and right before leaving, placed a soft kiss on Silver’s forehead. “My kind boy, may there come a day where your heart can selfishly desire aloud.”
˚★.𖥔 ݁ ˖ִ ࣪⚝₊ ⊹˚
“I’d like to give it to the people working to improve our future.” Idia’s heart skipped a beat, eyes widening, Silver wasn’t kidding was he? “Srsly? You’d take an SSR-tier item that will never drop again, and give it to someone else?” Words that wanted to compliment Silver’s selflessness went unspoken. The young boy, who had been fighting so hard for the last three months, with no solid re-assurance of survival nor success, yet despite this, he still so confidently chooses those who have been ignorant to his travels, his battles, and his perseverance above himself. Silver, who didn’t even have a last name till this moment, was so utterly kind in ways that Idia would never be able to understand. Someone like him, who failed to see the bigger world, the him who wanted nothing but to drown the world in vengeance for his late younger brother was now confronted with such angelic and blinding light, Idia didn’t dare to even stand next to him anymore. His kindness was too precious for someone like Idia, who could ruin it all.
The sound of Premo’s debut song rang through the housewarden’s dorm, jolting him awake. That dream again… Idia raised a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. It was that moment that closed the gap between a simple fleeting crush to Idia falling inlove. Despite the younger boy’s radiance, his galaxial eyes, and his prince like features, it was the kindness in his heart that Idia fell inlove with. It wasn’t because Silver was handsome, it wasn’t because he could fight, but it was the vast amount of love he had inside him, so big that it touched even the smallest of creatures. Groggily, Idia got up, internally whining at the fact he had to physically attend class today. Trein just didn’t understand that in this modern day, no one has to show up IRL anymore! Reluctantly, idia dragged himself to the bathroom to get ready.
Despite the majority false perceptions on Idia’s hygiene, Idia took care of himself extremely well. His bathroom was lined with many fragrances, lotions and shampoo (it’s hard finding shampoo that washes fire). On this day particularly, Idia’s decided to go with a cinnamon scent, not for any reason. He just felt like he hasn’t worn that perfume in a long time. A product left on the shelf too long might attract mold. After getting ready, he put on his school uniform and slowly but surely made his way for class.
˚★.𖥔 ݁ ˖ִ ࣪⚝₊ ⊹˚
Once class had finished, Idia immediately got up, making sure he avoided Cater at all costs. He did not need the Heartslabyul to question him any further about yesterday’s incident. Idia swiftly made his way outside of the classroom, eager to return to his dorm to hopefully pick up new loot for his avatars. On his way to the hall of mirrors, Idia briefly caught whiff of the fresh bread that the ghosts had finished baking. It was only then did Idia recall that he hadn’t yet broken his fast. He stood there for half a second, calculating how long he would be able to sustain his gaming if he skipped out on eating. After weighing out the possibilities, he decided that getting some calories in now was the best way to not have to leave his room later. Also, Ortho’s voice wouldn’t stop bugging his mind, telling the older boy to eat actual food. As if energy drinks weren’t real food.
Idia quietly slipped into the cafeteria, trying his best to avoid everyone in the room. Just then, Idia caught glance of a familiar silverhead, whom he had just spent half his evening with yesterday. The boy didn’t notice Idia, his back turned to him as he was carefully deciding between different pastries at the bakery section. As if one of the cafeteria ghosts had suddenly possessed Idia, the housewarden felt this sudden surge of confidence, walking straight torwards Silver’s turned back. Upon closer inspection, it seemed like Silver was choosing between a extra sweetened melonpan, or a yakisoba pan. Idia closed the gap between Silver’s back and his own chest, leaning down to grab the sweet bread in Silver’s right hand with his own rightside, as he said into Silver’s ear. “I never knew pegged you to be the sweet type, Silver-shi.” Silver froze, Idia could feel him tense up against his own chest. The housewarden held back the urge the snuggle up against Silver’s hair. When Silver finally turned around to meet Idia’s eyes, his cheeks were lightly flushed and the panic was still abit evident in his eyes. Cute.
“I-Idia senpai. Are you here to buy some breakfast too?” Idia only hummed in response, his hands moving up to once again hold Silver’s waist.
“Yeah, figured I should get some real food in before my raid later.” Silver, who was still red at the point, had turned around fully, so that their torsos were now pressed against each other.
“T-then might I suggest the–” Before Silver could finish speaking, Idia was suddenly pushed away by a long cane as a small red-head stepped in between the two.
“Idia-senpai! What in the sevens are you doing? Bullying is a violation of NRC’s codes of conduct!” Riddle who had placed himself infront of Silver, holding a hand out as if to protect his fellow classmate. Idia, now extremely confused only looked over to Riddle.
“R-Riddle-shi? B-bullying? Do you have any idea what you’re implying? It’s as if a mob would ever challenge their boss! They’d loose immediately! Have you ever heard of a sidekick trying to beat up the villain? Or an extra trying to solve the murder mystery?!?” Idia’s hair morphed into a mix of blue and orange, making an almost deepwater green, torn between getting mad at his fellow housewarden for pushing him away from Silver, but still equally scared of the shorter boy’s thin patience.
It was only then did Silver place a hand on Riddle’s shoulder to reassure him. “Riddle, Idia-senpai wasn’t bullying me, I was only helping him choose what to eat.” Silver, who now returned to his original pale shade continued, “I think you might have misunderstood something. He would never harm me.” It was now Riddle’s turn to blush, as he turned to face Silver.
“I-I see. I had briefly thought he was instigating something because of how close you guys were, and he looked like he was gripping you with quite the force as well.” Riddle turned back towards Idia. “I apologize, Idia-senpai. I misunderstood the situation.” Idia on the otherhand still looked terrified, but his hair had calmed back down to it’s usual blue flame.
“Jeez, I thought it was really gonna be KO for me just now…this is why I never interact IRL.” Before Idia could continue speaking a lanky merman appeared in between the two of them, grabbing Riddle’s shoulders,
“Goldfishie! There you are!”
“F-Floyd? what are you doing here!?” Riddle was taken aback, slightly staggering, however, Floyd’s arm moved to hold his back, steadying him.
“For something to eat, duh. Come eat with me.” Floyd dragged Riddle away, muttering about how Riddle eats too little, thats why he’s mad all the time. Both Silver and Idia were taken aback, frozen in place, glancing back at each other. Truly, Floyd Leech was a glitch that even engineers couldn’t stablize.
Idia dusted the invisible dirt off his pants, then awkwardly raising his hands to rub his head. It was then, that the ghost of confidence had decided to leave his body, and Idia had finally processed what he had done. How Idia hadn’t melted from embarrassment right now, was a question that would torment him for the next seven years of his life. He had just basically dove head first into a suicide mission, hugging Silver’s back in the middle of the cafeteria! Idia’s palm still felt incredibly warm. Before Idia could continue freaking out, a packaged melon pan was handed to him. As he took his own hand out to grab the melonpan, Idia looked up to see the owner of the hand. “Here, senpai. Hopefully the sugar will help give you energy for your gaming.” Silver looked at him with his usual gentleness. “If it’s okay with you, could I still come over and learn how to play AOUT today?”
Idia, still not trusting himself to say anything sensible, only nodded. Silver smiled back in response before picking out the yakisoba pan for himself. “See you later then, Idia-senpai.” He said before leaving Idia stuck in a daze. After a few seconds, Idia sprinted out of the cafeteria, holding the melonpan tight as he ran towards Ortho’s room.

“Silver, do you harbor romantic feelings for Idia-senpai?” Silvers eyes widened. He hadn’t yet told anyone about his infatuation towards the future Styx director, and out of everybody he knew, he surely wasn’t expecting the ill tempered Heartslabyul housewarden to get it first.
“Yes.” Silver replied shortly and curtly, unsure of what to say next. There was a brief pause between the two. “How did you know?” Silver asked Riddle.
“Floyd told me. He said that you were ‘head over heels for firefly squid’ but truly, I never expected that of you, Silver.”
“Are you disappointed in me?” This time, it was Riddle’s turn to be surprised, eyes widening in the process.
“Goodness, no! I didn’t mean it that way! I wanted to say that I am happy to know you, Silver, can also have romantic inclinations.” Riddle responded.
Silver only tilted his head and asked in return. “What do you mean?”
“What I meant to say is that you always seemed incredibly reserved, always willingly giving everything up for everyone else. As your fellow clubmate and superior, I am glad to know that you also have desires, and that you feel comfortable enough to share them.”
“You are very easy to love, Silver Vanrouge.” Silver recalled the words once uttered to him.
“By the way, does anybody else know yet?” Riddle asked.
“No, you and apparently Floyd are the only ones as of right now.”
“I see, then I shall safely guard this secret.” Silver felt warm. He had never opened up to anybody outside of his dorm like this, and while it wasn’t necessarily him who willingly initiated the conversation, he still felt relieved to have been able to speak with someone about his feelings.
“Thank you, Riddle” Silver smiled. Riddle only smiled back before making his way to the stables, briefly wondering if he should warn Silver to especially not tell Sebek.

By the time Silver made it to the hall of mirrors, he was greeted with Idia’s back. He carefully tapped Idia’s shoulders, making the older boy turn around. “S-Silver-shi. Hi.” Idia awkwardly smiled, revealing his sharp teeth. “Hello, Idia-senpai.” Silver responded back. Idia looked away, very sure that if he continued staring he would start turning red. The two quietly made their way to the housewardens dorm, this time, in a more comfortable silence.
Upon entering his room, Silver noticed that it was relatively cleaner than yesterday. The comics on Idia’s bed had been carefully put back into his shelf, and the opened cardboard boxes that were scattered around the floor were now cleaned up and put away. Silver made his way to Idia’s PC, where a single Sally was left infront of the already opened screen. Silver’s ears peaked seeing this, does that mean he and Idia would have to share a seat once more?
But then, Idia opened his mouth and Silver immediately lost all hope. “Oh right, I built another Sally last night so you can game more comfortably. Here”. Idia pulled out a brand new gaming chair. This one, instead of being blue like the original Sally C, had a streak of silver across the cushions. It was also noticeably smaller, as if it was built to fit Silver’s frame instead of Idia’s. The previous disappointment all vanished once Silver saw the small engraved S at the top of the seat. Had Idia made this seat just for him? Silver found himself wondering, but didn’t dare ask, afraid that the answer wasn’t what he was hoping for. He walked towards the chair, before glancing back at Idia. Idia only gave him a nod, urging him to sit.
Silver slowly descended onto the seat. Once sat, he raised his eyebrows in surprised. “Do you like it?” Idia asked, already smirking as if he knew what was coming next.
“Yes, it feels very comfortable. You built this overnight, senpai?”
“Yeah, I moddelled it after my lap, which you were so keen to sit on yesterday. Nothing a genius can’t do.” Idia casually shrugged, smirking. Silver only turned away, blushing. Idia then grabbed his own Sally, scooting closer to Silver to reach for the mouse and open AOUT. “Shall we get started then?” Idia asked, smirk still apparent on his face. Silver smiled back and nodded.

By the time Silver had entered into the Diasomnia lounge, he was greeted by his fellow swordsman. “SILVER! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?” The older boy winced upon hearing the loud voice.
“Mind your voice Sebek, we’re indoors and it’s late.” Silver sighed.
“IT’S EXACTLY BECAUSE IT’S LATE THAT I’M YELLING. I’LL ASK ONCE MORE, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?” Sebek yelled once more.
“I was with Idia-senpai.”
“The Ignihyde housewarden? Why the hell were you there?” Sebek questioned, face scrunching up upon hearing Idia’s name.
Silver, who didn’t really want to be questioned any further by his fellow childhood friend only answered briefly. “He was teaching me something” Before making a beeline for his own room.
“Wha–come back right now, Silver!” Avoiding Sebek, Silver swiftly locked his own doors. He sighed as he approached his closet, changing out of his clothes into a pair of more comfortable pajamas. Silver was particularly exhausted today, all the new gaming terminology Idia had taught him seemed to have overloaded his brain. This time, when Silver got into bed, he drifted off to sleep immedietly, entering a world of dreams, with no chance to reminisce about the days events.
“Silver.” This was the first time Idia referred to him with just his name with no other suffix. Silver looked back, “Yes, Idia-senpai?” Idia looked conflicted. He turned his head left and right before finally facing Silver, bringing a hand up to rub his neck. He did that a lot, Silver noticed. Idia took a deep breath before finally opening his mouth. “Listen, I know you wanna play hero and all, and trust me you look super cool! I mean, you are super cool and you totally deserve to be branded as a hero! After all, you just spent the last few months fighting so you could save Sage Island and it’s inhabitants. And I’m sure most people would agree that you have the rightful skills to be called a hero, yk, cuz you’re so handsome and all.” At this point, Idia had began to ramble. Another habit he often did, but Silver listened to every word carefully. He always did. “So you know, you’re already a hero in our eyes. You don’t have to try so hard to become one anymore.”
Silver only tilted his head, failing to understand Idia’s words. “I’m not trying to become a hero, Idia-senpai. I simply wanted to save Malleus sama.” Idia took a sharp breath in, then placed one hand on Silver’s shoulder. Silver didn’t know why, but the area that Idia placed his hand started heating up. “Look, what I’m trying to say is, that it’s okay to want things.” Silver glanced up at Idia, locking eyes with him. “You’ve been working so hard, you don’t need to keep putting everybody else above you anymore. You can become Silver Vanrouge, but at the same time, you can also wield the Dawn Knight’s armor. I know it’s abit OOC for me to say this, but you don’t need to care about Styx, or the people of Sage Island. You can just be you, and that’s always more than enough.” Silver didn’t know what to say, so he kept silent. Idia however, continued. He raised a finger and pointed it to Silver’s chest, lightly tapping it. “Your heart in here is so full, yet why is there not a single compartment reserved for yourself? You show love to Malleus, to Lilia, to Sebek, to all your classmates and teachers. You even you it to the smallest of animals, but what good is a love so abundant if there’s none left for yourself? You can be selfish Silver. Saving some love for yourself isn’t gonna take away your worth.” Silver looked down, eyes not daring to meet Idia’s anymore. “How are you so sure about that? The moment I become useless as a knight I will be…”
Suddenly, a hand came up to his cheek, lifting his head back up to face the housewarden. It was the first time Silver had seen such a warm smile on the introverted boy’s face. “You are very easy to love, Silver Vanrouge. If Lilia breaking that curse on you wasn’t enough to tell you, then maybe this will.” Idia turned Silver’s neck over to his left, giving him a full view of the party. There stood all of his classmates, professors, friends and his own father, dancing the night away. At that instant, as if it were magic (or rather the flames of Idia’s hair that burned even brighter) everyone looked over to the pair, smiling and calling silver to dance. Tears started welling up in Silver’s eyes. “See? Who here doesn’t love you Silver-shi? It comes as naturally as breathing for some of them.” Idia smiled at the boy, rubbing his cheeks and lifting his other hand to wipe the tears off Silver’s face. Then, he leaned in and whispered, “You don’t have to donate the armor. I’ll talk to everybody for you.” SIlver nodded, before Idia guided him back to the crowd.
What Idia didn’t know however, was that two new compartments opened up in Silver’s heart that night. One for himself, and one for Idia.
˚★.𖥔 ݁ ˖ִ ࣪⚝₊ ⊹˚
A week had passed since Idia first started teaching Silver how to game. There was a series of…incidents that happened in the span of a week, none of which were good for Idia’s heart at all. Example number one: Silver had suddenly caught a drowsy spell midgame, not only causing him to lose, but it took almost a month’s worth of physical exertion for Idia to finally pull Silver to his bed. After that day, Idia didn’t dare touch his bed for 3 days straight, labeling as a holy sacred artifact. However, he gave in after realizing Sally C, while being the worlds best gaming chair, could only support so many hours of sleep before causing the user back pain.
Then, came the second incident: Silver had somehow convinced Idia that he was able to play better only if Idia’s hands were resting on his thigh. Something along the lines of, “My thigh gets easily cold, could you keep your hand there to help keep it warm? This way I’ll be able to move more efficienty.” Idia was 99.99% sure that wasn’t how it worked, but this was Silver so the 0.01% remaining had won. To sumrise it up, Silver Vanrouge had been toying with Idia’s heart and he has had a 100% success rate so far.
Idia sighed, making his way to the equestrian club. He decided that this time, instead of waiting to pick Silver up in the hall of mirrors, he should go pick Silver up directly from his club instead. It was the most gentleman-y thing to do afterall. (It was not Idia’s idea at all, Ortho had spent a total of four days convincing him to get out of his room before Idia finally considered it) He made his way along the unfamiliar path to the stables.
Once Idia arrived, he was greeted by a sight that immediately turned his blue hair orange. Silver, the Silver who had been in his room everyday for the last week, who had sat on his lap, slept on his bed, and laughed with him along all the titan raids. That exact Silver, was mounted on a horse with Floyd Leech, lips dangerously close to Silver’s neck, his chest basically pressed onto Silver’s back. He made brief eyecontact with Idia, before whispering something that Idia couldn’t quite make out. Only then did Silver notice Idia’s presence, eyes lighting up immediately as he quickly got off the horse and approached Idia.
“Idia-senpai, what are you doing here? I thought you’d be waiting at the hall of mirrors.” Once Silver finally reached Idia, the housewarden reached his hand out to grab Silver’s waist, keeping his tight hold as he pulled Silver closer to him. Simultaneously, Silver’s cheeks started to burn.
“Silver-shi, Why was SSR sea boss’s henchmen practically about to gobble you up???”
“I was only teaching Floyd how to ride a horse, Idia-senpai.” When did teaching someone how to ride a horse become borderline humping, is nothing sacred anymore these days??
“Teaching someone how to ride a horse isn’t supposed to look like that!! Plus Floyd already knows how to ride a horse!!” Idia is officially about to be killed. What pains him is that this kill differs from the rest so greatly. Idia pulled Silver away from the stables. He had to get away from the merman ASAP, but as Idia glanced over, he let out a sigh of relief seeing that Floyd has already attached himself to Riddle. Idia tightened his grip on Silver’s waist, as they made their way to Idia’s dorm.
Idia hadn’t spoken a single word, silently moving across the halls until the both of them entered his dorm room. Once the doors to his room closed, Idia sat on the bed, manspreading as the brought his hands up to his face, holding his mouth before letting a sigh out. Silver only stared at him, the sight reminding him of the first night he came to Idia’s room. He had witness this exact scene a week ago, where Idia had been stressed over something else. Not knowing what to do, he did exactly as he did last week. He sat on Idia’s lap, hands coming up to hold his shoulder. This time, Idia wasn’t jolted by surprised, instead, he naturally brought his hands to rest on Silver’s waist. Another habit he developed within the last week. “Are you angry at me?” Silver calmly asked.
“What? No, no, I could never be angry with you, Silver-shi.” Idia shook his head, hands now rubbing Silver’s waist up and down.
“Then why…?” Silver wondered out loud.
“It’s just–” Idia paused. He looked up only to find a pair of aurorial eyes already looking back at him. Idia sighed, as he turned away to avoid the gaze.
“I’m more angry at…myself. It’s like that trope where the extra feels like he’s been given a chance, and starts acting all cocky later on. Readers typically hate that shit.” Silver, who still didn’t understand what Idia was saying only looked at him in confusion. Idia, aware of this, corrected himself. “I’m saying I’m angry at myself cuz I let myself get jealous of Floyd.”
“Huh?” Silver asked, still obviously confused.
“Silver-shi, do you know what I think of you?” Silver only shook his head in response.
“I think you’re a star so bright that it’s light could even reach the Island of woe, something even the sun couldn’t do. You’re absolutely radiant.” Idia brought a hand up to hold Silver’s face. “You’re so perfect, and I’m…I’m not. You’re selfless, kindhearted, and always willing to give. Me on the other hand, I only want the things I can’t have. And when I’m unable to achieve it, I try and drag everyone down. I’m selfish.” Idia eyes were now locked with the boy on his lap.
“Yet you gave me the slim chance of hope, that I can be good again. And now, after barely hanging out with you for a week, I’m getting greedy. I started to think that I, just a powerless boy who couldn’t even bring his own brother back, can somehow conquer a being brighter than the sun, warmer than it’s beams, and kinder than it’s heart.” Idia pressed his head into Silver’s shoulders. “Silver-shi, did you know that our planets are always moving? It moves along with the sun’s gravitational pull. Did you know you’re just like the sun in that aspect? Everyone is so drawn to you. Yet how dare I, a mere moon get so close to you, and desire you, want so badly to call you mine when there are so much more planets out there that deserves your light?” Idia dropped his hands, before looking back up at Silver.
Silver sucked his breath in, holding it. He had no idea Idia had felt that way. Obviously, he knew the housewarden was somewhat interested in him, but to think he had been harvesting thoughts like this. This time, it was Silvers turn to reach out, holding Idia’s face with both his hands.
“Idia-senpai. Did you know I love the moon?” Idia’s eyes widened in shock. “To me, the moon has always been the safest place. I was blessed by a nocturnal fae, that’s how I got my silver hair. You saw it too, at he ball, my real hair is golden. But I think I would hate it that way. I like how comforting the moon is. As if it would love me even if I’m not ‘golden’ anymore.” Silver continued. “You say I’m selfless, kindhearted, and always willing to give. You told me that I needed to give love to myself too, but Idia senpai, aren’t you being a hypocrite in that sense too? You are equally selfless, you are kindhearted, and you senpai, you’ve always been willing to give. Whether that was the armor, the chair, or even the powers you gave us back when Malleus sama overblotted. Idia senpai, If I, a star even brighter than the sun, can burn so deeply for you, a mere moon in our solar system, then why do you feel scared to reciprocate my love?” At this point, Idia had started to tear up. His lips were trembling and his eyes widened in shock at the last few words that came out of Silver’s mouth.
“You–do you know what you’re saying right now?” Idia asked.
Silver nodded. “Yes, Idia senpai. Just like how I love the moon, like how planets are drawn our sun, I love you. Not because you’re an extra, not because you’re teaching me how to game, I love you simply for how kind you are.” Silver gently pulled Idia in for a kiss, Idia, who only paused for a brief moment, responded by wrapping his arm around Silver’s waist and snaking the other up his nape.
“I love you too, Silver.”

Silver quietly opened the door to the Diaomnia entrance, scared that he will wake anyone up. Once making sure that the big door closes without a loud noise, he was greeted by a small figured fae hanging upside down.
“I never thought my son would be the type to sneak out like this.” Silver swiftly turned his head around, making eyecontact with his father who was grinning widely.
“F-father!” Silver silently yelled. He then looked down, guilt appearing all over his face. “I-I’m sorry. I failed to inform you of my late return. I shall take any punishment that you see fit.”
Lilia hopped on the ground, bringing one hand up to his chin pretending as if he were thinking hard about the topic. “Hmmm, I see. Then, Silver Vanrouge, as punishment for staying out so late and not telling the housewarden, let alone your father, you will come straight to my room and tell me all about this new boyfriend you have gotten!” Huh? Silver was immediately taken aback, how did his father know? But then again, there was very little things that could get past Lilia Vanrouge. “And tomorrow, you will go straight to Vil Schoenheit, housewarden of Pomefiore, and learn how to cover up your hickey.” Lilia pointed at the bruise on Silver’s neck. Silver’s hand immediately went up to rub his neck, covering the darkened area. He flushed red.
“Father…” Silver sighed. “Alright.” He smiled.
That night, the two conversed and laughed the night away, Silver opening up to his father about the feelings he harbored for the fire headed housewarden, and a few other insecurities he once held. Lilia, in return shared some of his own experiences with his personal feelings. Ones that he has told no one, the secrets he kept in his own heart about his late childhood friends.
As Silver returned to his dorm, quietly getting into bed, he pulled out his phone.
Idia-senpai

Silver blushed at the text.

Goodnight.
Idia-senpai

Silver put his phone away, still too excited to fall asleep. He stared at the ceiling for a few minutes, before his phone vibrated again. He reached out, only to see a single notification pop up from his now boyfriend.
Idia-senpai
love you. always have, always will ☀️🩶
Silver smiled, before opening up the message to reply to the housewarden, he knew Idia was probably internally cringing at himself.
Me
I love you too, Idia. 🌙💙

Extra:
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE DATING IDIA SHROUD?” Both Silver and Riddle raised their hands up to their ears, this time, Sebek was especially louder than usual.
“Sebek! Please! Mind your volume!” Riddle cried.
From a far distance, the Ignyhide housewarden and Octavinelle’s star basketball player were hidden behind an orchid tree, the former looking very scared at Sebek’s reaction, while the latter was getting irritated. “If he says anything dumb to goldfishie, I’ll squeeze that croc.”
