Chapter 1: Leave it to Me.

Chapter Text

Prologue:

It was only 2 weeks after the war between heroes and villains.. Shigaraki was gone… All For One was finally defeated after being alive for centuries… The League of Villains was no more, hell, even Class 1-A were now finally 2nd years and started their classes. The whole class was admired by the 1st years, and all of the civilians, everything felt so.. Great… Perfect even.. However, not everything is what it seems, something was still missing..

Izuku Midoriya.

The 17 year old teenager that defeated Shigaraki and All For One and ended the war in the first place. The chosen one.. The Symbol of Hope.. All Might’s Successor… Katsuki Bakugou’s rival and best friend.. Was nowhere to be found.. He left the hospital without a trace.

It was after he recovered and was supposed to be discharged the next day. He escaped that night with no note, not anything to signal what he was even up to. Katsuki didn’t understand it at all.

The war was over.

He did it.

He saved everyone just like he said he would.

So why did he leave again without even a note this time?

The last time Izuku left, it was because there were people after him and he thought it would be best for everyone’s safety. This time however, there was absolutely no reason for him to leave.

Katsuki knew Izuku more than anybody..

.. But he had absolutely no idea why the damn nerd would disappear again without a trace..

Present Day:

It was the first day of classes starting up again at UA High, and needless to say, it was already chaos. The new first years were already annoying the hell out of Class 2-A, fangirling and fanboying over everyone and trying to get into the classroom that belonged to the battered second years.

“I understand you all are very excited, but please! You must respect your upperclassmen’s boundaries!” Tenya Iida was heard yelling at the eager first year students, waving his hand up and down repeatedly as poor Katsuki and Todoroki hid behind him.

“We’re sorry, but! We’re just so thrilled and excited to see all of you guys in the same room, I mean, you all were on TV!! You saved the world!” A first year spoke up, all of the other underclassmen agreeing with them. The fangirls raved about how hot Katsuki looked while he beat All For One to a pulp after coming back from death.

Katsuki was irritated, which he usually always is, but more irritated than usual. Why? Because even though all of the attention was great and all, he’s not that upset about it, he was pretty badass after blowing up an evil baby. However.. Izuku was getting no recognition..

.. And that pissed him off to no end.

It felt like Izuku’s efforts were just tossed to the side, like what he did didn’t mean anything. But when a hot guy does it everyone goes crazy. It didn’t make sense to Katsuki, ‘did these losers not watch the whole broadcast?’ Sure, everyone helped, it was a team effort all in the end, but it’s because of Izuku that they won. Izuku was the whole center of the plan, the core, the whole reason everyone survived, and they’re not even batting an eye at him.. It feels like a slap in the face. Izuku should be getting the recognition he deserves. And to make matters even worse, the nerd was gone, seat empty. No one knew where he was, not even his own mother or All Might. So, it was only natural that Katsuki was moody and on edge more than usual.

“If you want to praise whoever saved the world and hero society, don’t thank us.” Katsuki spoke up from the chaos, his voice calm but definitely laced with irritation, making everyone in the room go silent, even the rowdy first years, “Thank Izuku if you see him...” He said before striding over slowly to his desk, sitting down and putting his bag on the floor. “And if you see him...”

“Report it to the higher ups immediately.”

The whole room went silent, the first years confused, until one of them spoke up again. “Wait, you mean Deku? What’s up with him? I don’t see him anywhere.” The kid said, looking around as he spoke.

Class A all looked down at themselves, there was no way to track Izuku this time.. He wasn’t working with the pros.. Not even a note. When they all found out that he snuck out of the hospital, they were all in shock, devastated even, they didn’t know why he would leave, even Uraraka was balling her eyes out after hearing the news that she had now lost two people special to her.

“Deku.. Is missing..”

Uraraka spoke up, already feeling her eyes sting as she admitted it. All of the first years gasped.

“What?!”

“He’s missing?”

“How can that be?”

The chaos started again, but for a different reason now…

Later that Day:

Everybody was now back in the dormitory, stretching their legs, chatting, freshening up, but not Katsuki.

He was currently in a room with All Might and a bunch of pros, including the police Hawks, Mount Lady, and all of the other pros that were still in the profession. All Might was the first person to speak up after long silence, looking at Katsuki with tired, concerned eyes.

“Young Bakugou.. Are you positive that you have no idea where Young Midoriya is? Was there nothing that the kid said to you that might’ve hinted anything, anything at all?” All Might asked the teen with a calm but firm voice, his elbows resting on his knees.

Katsuki shook his head, “No, there was nothing at all, it just seemed like he was happy that it was all over... And that he was sad that he was quirkless again but didn’t regret anything... That’s all he said... There was nothing hinting that he wasn’t finished with something, or that he wasn’t satisfied...” He replied, his hands moving to his head, staring at the ground as he continued to think.

“That’s why this doesn’t make any sense.. Why would he leave?” He thought to himself out loud, increasingly getting more and more irritated. Not because he was irritated with the people around him, but he was more irritated at himself.

He was angry at himself for not seeing anything sooner. Maybe if he noticed something, the slightest change in Izuku’s behavior, the way his emerald eyes always had that sparkle, the way he was always happy and grateful no matter what happened to him. If Katsuki could’ve noticed a small crack in the exterior.. This wouldn’t be happening, he would’ve made sure Izuku was safe and kept him in that damn hospital.

“So we have no leads.. Just great.” Aizawa sighed, scratching the back of his neck. “Listen, Bakugou. I hate to say it, but you might be the only one that can lead us to Midoriya, if anyone can find that problem child, it’s you.. But don’t feel forced to-”

“I’ll do it.” Katsuki interrupted, standing up to his feet and putting his hands in the pockets of his sweatpants, he was staring at the floor, so his blonde bangs covered his eyes.

“I’ll do whatever it takes.. I won’t let him just leave without a damn note. Tch, asshole.” The hotheaded blonde mumbled before leaving the room and going to sleep for the night.

Okay he couldn’t sleep.

He wanted to go search for Izuku right away, he wanted to scream at the nerd. He wanted to ask him why he left. A part of Katsuki wanted to strangle him and scream till his throat felt sandy and raw. He wanted to shake him, ask him why he left without saying anything, why he left without a trace Katsuki wanted to beat him to a pulp..

But most of all..

He wanted to hug that nerd so tight so he won’t be able to run away again. He wanted to hold his freckled face in his hands.. He.. he wanted to see him again..

And wasn’t going to rest until he found Izuku..

So instead of sleeping and getting rest like the doctor ordered him to, he got out of bed and went over to his desk, opening up his laptop.

He wanted to search, anything that could give him a lead on something, anything. However, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t find anything, all of the news was just about cleaning up after the war, nothing about a broccoli headed idiot roaming around the streets of Japan.

“Where the fuck is he?” A groan came from Katsuki, leaning back into his chair and started scratching his hair like a mad man.

“Damn nerd, I swear to god when I find that little sneak-”

Before he could continue his empty threats, there was a knock at the door..
Who could be up at such an hour?

“You’ve gotta be kidding me..” Katsuki grumbled before begrudgingly getting up off of his chair and walked over to the door, grabbing the knob and opening the door.

On the other side of the door was Uraraka, shifting uncomfortably and fidgeting with her fingers. Katsuki looked back at her, staring at her and blinking a couple times before he let out a huff and went back to his desk. “Tch, what is it, pink cheeks? I’m busy.” He said with a hint of irritation as he sat back down at his desk and started typing furiously at his laptop.

Uraraka didn’t reply for a moment, she just stood there, seemingly not knowing what to say, or how to put her words to be more specific.

“Listen, if you’re just gonna stand there and stare you might as well just-”

“Where did you go after class ended?”

Katsuki froze for a moment, his hands pausing from the keyboard. He wasn’t supposed to say a word about helping the pros find Izuku, he was told not to tell anyone.

“You weren’t in the common room or in your dorm, you went somewhere.” Uraraka continued, finally walking into the blonde's dorm room.

“I told you, I’m-”

“Are you looking for him?” She interrupted him again, walking over to him, her eyebrows furrowed, determination in her eyes.

Katsuki sighed, running his fingers through his spiky blonde hair. ‘Out of all the people..’ He thought to himself, Uraraka was almost exactly like Izuku in the sense that they can be too observant and pushy if they wanted to be, and that's what made him nervous. He shifted his gaze back to his screen.

“Oh yeah? What if I am looking for him, what’s it to you?” He finally replied.

“Let me help-”

“No.”

Uraraka’s fists clenched, her eyebrows furrowed as she watched him type away. “Why?” She asked him, she couldn’t understand why this had to be underwraps, why couldn’t she help find her.. Friend?

“Why can’t we do this together? He’s a part of the class, isn’t he? I want to help, and I’m sure that everyone will want to help. We can just do what we did last time and corner him and-”

“Not gonna happen.”

“Why?!”

Katsuki stopped typing again and looked at her, “Because if he finds out people are looking for him, he’s going to run. Izuku isn’t going to just give into coming back so easily.”

“Yeah but-”

Before Uraraka could interrupt, Katsuki raised his hand, signaling that he wasn’t finished with his hypothesis.

“Yes, we brought him back last time as a class, but he left a second time with no note or lead this time, just leaving without a trace, he’s not even working with any pros or doing any secret mission for a pro or to protect someone, that’s odd, even for Izuku. That’s basically him saying that he doesn’t to be found out, and it’s going to take more work to get him to wake the fuck up this time.” He explained, standing up from his chair and staring at Uraraka.

“Listen, I understand that you’re worried about him, because.. I guess I am too..” He admitted reluctantly, “But, something tells me that he doesn’t want any visitors, it’s dangerous..”

Uraraka wiped a tear from her cheek, her other hand clutching her shirt. When Katsuki saw the sight his eyes widened and he panicked. “Wha- HEY! WHY ARE YOU CRYING?!” He yelled, his hands flailing in the air, not knowing what to do. Meanwhile, Uraraka was trying to calm herself down from letting more tears fall. Katsuki let out a loud irritated groan.

“OKAY OKAY! UGH LISTEN!” He said with frustration and Uraraka looked up at him. Katsuki looked away from her.

“Just… Leave it to me.. Alright?” He mumbled, his voice now soft, but laced with determination.

“I’ll make sure he comes back.. Just stop crying like a wimp already..”

Uraraka’s eyes widened, she knew Katsuki had changed, but she didn’t expect that he changed this much. She wiped her excess tears and looked at him with hope in her eyes.

“Please.. Bring him home..”
