Work Text:
Maekar was going to murder his children. Even little Aegon. As soon as the fucker came to the car- what was he doing with that huge man in the field?! Was he TRYING to get kidnapped?
“Aegon, come here please!” Daeron yelled, balancing on the fence, his ass resting on the side of Aerion’s face for balance, much to the younger sibling’s displeasure. Still he didn’t push him off, in a rare moment of charity. Figures Aerion would only care for the safety of his drunken sibling in ONE moment where Maekar really couldn’t give a damn if the boy would get concussed or not.
“Stop yelling ‘Aegon’!” Aegon screeched back, stomping his foot in a way he learned from Aerion, damn the boy. He was raising another brat, Gods help him. “It’s ‘Egg’! And YOU COME HERE!”
“We’ve come to take you home!” Valarr yelled back at his little cousin, also not daring to cross the fence. The whole family was in crimson red, and there were cows over there!
“Three hours later!” the 10 year old complained, taking the giant man’s hand. “I live here now!”
“NO THE FUCK YOU DON’T!” Maekar finally found his voice, just about ready to jump the fence, cows be damned. “Nobody knew where you were, and your phone was off! You disappeared in the middle of the fair!” it was the last time he took his children anywhere. No, from now on, they’ll be locked inside, all of his sons and Valarr too for good measure, they’ll have one hour of daylight on the balcony and the rest of the time they’ll be with some incredibly old tutor he’d hire, so they’d be nice and calm and studying.
“I texted Aerion where I am!” the child defended itself.
“Wha-! I’m sorry for not responding to like, ONE text, Aegon!” Aerion snapped, looking up from his phone, which Maekar promptly confiscated. Yes, sure enough. Aegon texted him when he left and he left a live location.
“A’ight, a’ight!” the giant finally spoke up, picking Aegon up by the armpits and quickly crossing the field. Truly, Dunk didn’t understand why none of the four men present thought to actually walk to the kid they lost. Were they stupid?
“I am so sorry, sir” he tried to pacify the man he assumed to be the patriarch of the dysfunctional family, whose face was as red in rage as his silk shirt. “I didn’t know he just wandered off without permission. My old man would just let me run around and then howl when it was time for supper” he gave a nervous chuckle, handing Egg over the fence into the father’s arms. The man clutched him to his chest like a newborn despite his obvious fury.
“I don’t care how they do it in fucking hedges!” he snapped at the man- the boy, really, he couldn’t be older than Daeron “I could have you arrested for kidnapping, you lunk!”
Dunk the lunk, Dunk thought sadly. Did he really look as stupid as he felt? Everyone seemed to see it, wherever he went.
“Dunk didn’t do anything wrong!” Egg complained “I came to him, he taught me how to make flower crowns and light a fire with two sticks! It was boring at the fair!”
“You be quiet!” Maekar snapped, dusting the boy off from dirt and hay that stuck to his clothes. “You’re grounded, for- for ‘till college!”
“For ‘till college?!”
“FOR ‘TILL COLLEGE!”
Daeron and Aerion both snickered at the exchange, knowing full well that their brother would be alright. He’d be grounded for maybe two hours before papa would come into his room with a place of sliced fruit.
Aerion’s smile lessened a bit as the family retreated back to the BMW, eyes stuck on the tallest man he ever saw. Most handsome too, he thought idly, but it was those eyes that made him stare. Impossibly blue, impressive almost as much as his own violet gaze he loved to stare in at the mirror without anyone knowing. And Aegon looked so happy before they made their presence known…
“Add me on instagram” he added, realizing that he couldn’t add the giant himself since his father had his phone. Father, who was now angrily honking for him to get the fuck in.
“It’s cannibal_brightflame10! In digits, not letters!” he cried out the last part before slammed the door shut behind them, the car moving before he could even gauge the boy’s reaction.
He had every confidence the giant would remember his handle properly. After all, papa thought he was an idiot, and papa was almost always wrong.
