Work Text:

It was a desolate evening with silence echoing through the streets, no one dared to travel at this time of day. This was probably due to the recent attacks that had been happening around town, which was pretty frightening considering there was a relatively low crime rate all year round, with only a few instances of theft here and there. Rumours were quick to be passed around with people claiming that these were attacks done by vampires. It would make sense for the vunerable locals to believe this, since the victims involved were left with two round marks located on their neck. Luckily none of these attacks had resulted in any deaths, but in all fairness thats the last thing this town needed.

Meanwhile, Sayeon found the whole rumour of it being caused by vampires rather amusing and that it was just a bunch of rubbish fed to scare the locals. I mean anyone could leave two marks on a person's neck, didn't mean a vampire had gone and done it. She sighed, remote in hand, as she was comfortably planted on the sofa switching in-between channels after hearing a breif rundown of what had been happening in town.

As she was flicking through the various channels the television had to offer, she perked up at sound of her older sister's irritated groan coming from the kitchen. Before she knew it Samin had emerged from the kitchen leaning against the wall attempting not to appear frustrated.

"What's wrong?"

"Some of the ingredients I need to finish dinner had run out.."  She sighed pinching the bridge of her nose.

"I can run down to the shops." Sayeon offered and with that came a hesitant look on her older sister's face.

In all fairness Samin was pretty smart to question whether to let her sister go by herself. Afterall, a co-worker of hers at work had fallen a victimn to these mysterious attacks going around. But she had to remember that sayeon wasn't so small like she was all those years back, she was basically an adult now and with that capable to handling herself. So with great reluctance, Samin had let her leave with a list of what to get, 'carefully' counted out money and a promise that she would come right back home.

The journey to shop was only a five minute walk at most and sayeon was certainly experiencing how desserted the streets where. At this point she wouldn't have been surprised if people started boarding up their windows with how seriously people were taking this. Nevertheless she continued down the still streets eventually arriving infront of the illuminated store, pushing through the door with the bell letting out a ring to announce her arrival. The guy glued to his screen behind the counter snapped his head up at the sound, barely meeting sayeons eyes, he seemed on edge.

I mean if you were working the night shift in a town that has had a shift in attack recently, who wouldn't be on guard?

Once she had collected everything in the basket she made her way over to the counter, offering a polite smile to the guy behind the desk and she in return got an anxious one from the guy before taking his eyes to scanning the items. He looked around the same age as sayeon if not younger, probably working this job to get some extra money on the side, she thinks.

"That'll be $7.89 miss."

Sayeon nodded counting out the money samiin had lended her , and to no surprise she was short atleast 20 cents. Damn samin and her terrible math. She had been through this once before and was clever enough to throw in atleast a few more coins. She handed the guy the correct amount, the items already packaged into a flimsy plastic bag and headed off stuffing the receipt inside.

She walked out the store with the groccies in hand and she couldn't help but feel the uneasy presence of this guy behind her keeping his eyes on her. Almost as like, as soon as she stepped out the store, she might be attacked. But sayeon was totally unphased by all of these attacks, i mean a vampire? Vampires aren't real and she was going to stick to that.

The streets were the same as she had left them, desterted and silent, she looked back at the shop before turning back and making her way back home. Sayeon continued down the same street and almost jumped at the sound of an abrupt cough from up ahead stealing the slience. She reached the next alleyway and peered down, a figure was against the wall and her first assumption was either a drunkard or someone coming out for a quick smoke. All of these assumptions were out of the window upon noticing how the silhoutte seemed very close to one of her own classmates, clearly not doing so well.

Sayeon was going against herself as she promised her older sister that she would head straight home, but if this was one of her classmates and something were to happen to them, that feeling of gulit would forever eat away at her, espeically with these alledged attacks going on. With a sigh, she stepped into the dim alleyway keeping her eyes on the figure, leaning against the brick wall.

"Hello?"

The person snapped their head over at the greeting giving sayeon a good look at who this mysterious figure was, she was correct, it was one of her classmates, ryujin kang. A notrious deliquient in her class whom sayeon had started tutoring atleast a month ago as a favour from their class teacher. With some slow progress over the month, they were beginning to become fond of one another.

"Sayeon?" Ryujin stammered,  "What-"

"Are you okay-"  Sayeon cut in, taking a step forward but ryujin was quick to take a step back to keep the same distance between the two of them.

"No don't!" She cracked, yelling through her ragged breathing as she held her out hand out to prevent sayeon from getting closer. This time when she spoke up, it was more softer, quieter, and desperate which completely exposed her vunerable self.  "Please, I'm fine."

"What's going on ryujin..?"

"Nothing! I said nothing glasses, dammit just go!"

Ryujin attempted to wave her hand to shoo sayeon off but she remain right there on the spot, unmoving, not knowing what to do at this time simply watching the weak ryujin huff against the wall. An idea formed.

With a swift moment sayeon moved forward and held onto ryujin by her hoodie's sleeve, to stop her from running off. Ryujin, on the other hand had barely reacted, which was unusual since sayeon knew that the girl has some insane reflexes.

"Glasses, are you insane? Let go."

Sayeon's grip on her sleeve didn't falter.

All whilst ryujin couldn't bring herself to make eye contact with sayeon

"Don't make me fucking repeat myself glasses i swear to fuck."

Ryujin balled her hand into a fist, not to harm the girl before her, but rather to keep herself together.

The tension between the two of them was only getting thicker and heavier as sayeon kept her ground. Then before she knew it, ryujin had snapped. A sound escaped from in-between her teeth, low and gutural which had worked to get sayeon to back off. She kept her teeth bared for a few more moments but before Ryujin could cover her mouth, but Sayeon saw them.

Two sharp and pointed fangs. There was no mistaking it, those were definately fangs.

Ryujin didn't dare to meet sayeon's eyes, she had snapped at her on accident and now everything was out.

Seeing ryujin's fangs had left sayeon in a dilema, as she began to doubt her beliefs on the existence of vampires. She thought it was rather silly at first that someone spread it around as a joke to scare but now ryujin was existential proof. Ryujin had to be a vampire, there was no mistaking it.

"Are you-"  Sayeon began not knowing how to get the truth from her, ryujin for a moment looked up with hope that maybe, just maybe sayeon hadn't noticed. That thought alone was useless, she had definately saw and there was no taking it back

Ryujin then looked away and that told sayeon all she needed to know The purple haired girl couldn't even come up with an argument to counter sayeon, i mean all the proof was right in front of her there was no pointing in denying it.

"Go home lee."  Ryujin mummured, pushing past sayeon about to leave the alleyway.

"Ryujin hold on-" Sayeon scrambled to follow her, ryujin turned back to face her with an irritated expression plastered onto her face and sayeon knew she would tell her to back off oncec more. But the alleyway being poorly lit as it was, sayeon had gotten her foot caught in an unforeseeable object causing her to tumble over ryujin. Both of sayeon's hands landing next to ryujin's head.

Ryujin’s breath hitched, registering she had her back pressed to the shivering concrete floor with sayeon's throat right in her line of sight. She found herself just staring momentarily before snapping her gaze away. Although sayeon had already noticed.

Sayeon felt the fear begin bubbling up deep inside of her, surely ryujin wouldn't kill her, right?

But another good look at her face and that all changed, she was clearly holding herself back. She kept her eyes away from sayeon, ocassionally swallowing as if she was fighting something.

Ryujin was the one to break the silence meeting her eyes for a spilt second.

“Get off me.”

Sayeon could tell that ryujin was trying to put up a tough act, but that strain in her voice only served to betray her. She could easily read ryujin when something bothered or riled her up, she would attempt to appear threatening so that sayeon would back off, but really she meant no harm by it.

“I’m serious.” she muttered. “If you don’t move, I will.”

With that, sayeon pushed herself off the floor and she did offer her hand out but ryujin played dumb like she didn't see it. Now she had her eyes to the floor, infront of sayeon, trembling.

“Ryujin… you’re shaking.”

That did it for ryujin, it was pointless hiding it now. Sayeon already knew what she really was. A vampire.

Ryujin let out a shaky, humorless laugh. “Yeah. That’s what happens when you haven’t been fed in awhile.”

Sayeon’s breath caught. “fed…?”

“Blood,” she said bluntly. “I mean blood.”

Sayeon seemed to understand, but from that look she was giving, there was a hint of confusion. Ryujin gave out a sigh, but in all fairness sayeon was a human, she had no idea how vampires functioned in any way, shape or form.

“Vampires can go weeks without feeding on blood if they have to. But that doesn’t mean we’re... fine. It’s like, uh…” She paused, choosing her next words carefully. “You know when you skip a meal—like breakfast or lunch? And by the time you hit dinner, your body’s kinda shaky, your mood’s all over the place? You get snappy, hungry, all that?”

Sayeon gave a nod

"Now imagine that, but for weeks,” Ryujin continued, her voice rough with frustration. “You’re tired, irritable...your senses start getting sharper. Everything starts feeling a little too much. It’s like... everything starts feeling out of control. You’re constantly on edge, just waiting for something to flip the switch.”

Ryujin paused, crossing her arms.

"Hell if you deprive yourself from blood for long enough, your body starts to fall apart. You get so consumed by the hunger that you lose touch with yourself and you begin to spiral out of control.."

Sayeon blinked, the weight of those words settling heavily on her chest. “That sounds... terrifying.”

The purple haired girl scoffed leaving Lee to glance down at her hands. But there was one thought that was lingered in the back of her mind.

"Ryujin," she began her tone filled with uncertainity mainly because she was unsure if she wanted to know the answer. "The attacks... the ones in town... are you behind them?"

That question was left to hang in the air, heavier than she’d expected. With that, Ryujin’s jaw tightened and for the first time sayeon witnessed a new expression from her, it was an expression filled with  gulit.

“I... I don’t feed on humans anymore.” Her voice dropped a little, “I’ve been scraping by on animal blood.”

Sayeon blinked,  “Animal blood?”

Ryujin nodded, her eyes darting away, “Unfortunately it's not as effective as human blood is as it keeps me somewhat sane for a day at most. Even if the taste is like cardboard...I will never feed on others like that again."

Sayeon swallowed, the weight of her words sinking in. She felt a pang of disbelief—animal blood?

That was one thing she never expected to hear but it would answer the question as to how ryujin was staying sane if she wasn't feeding on human blood. But she was clearly starving to an extent that even animal blood wasn't enough for her anymore. Her body and mind fighting against her nature, to give in, but she was trying—trying to not be a monster.

“So... you’ve been starving yourself from human blood for weeks just to avoid hurting people?” Sayeon asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ryujin’s eyes darkened. “Yeah. I mean I could go for a human, no problem. But that gulit? It would just eat me alive.”

There was a moment of stillness, sayeon didn't know what to say after the purple haired girl had bascially just gone and spilled everything. Now ryujin, feeling like she had made everything awkward, was looking for a way to get out of here.

"I should go." Ryujin started, "I need to go find some animal blood-"

"You don't have to."  Sayeon interupted

"What?"

"Bite me."  Sayeon said without a stutter nor hesitiation present in her voice, almost sent chills down ryujin's back.

"I am not fucking biting you."

Sayeon began to undo the first button on her shirt, pulling it further down to reveal the bare skin on her neck.

Ryujin squeezed her eyes shut and snapped her head away in response. The blue haired girl took ryujin pulling her by the shirt, until sayeon's back was against the rough wall, that's when she got the hint that sayeon wasn't kidding.

"Fuck, no, no, you're like actually insane it's not even funny."

"Just do it."

"Sayeon, no. No way in hell, you don't know what you're asking for."

"What other choice do you have?"  Sayeon spoke, her eyes narrowing, that question alone was enough to bring a stop to ryujin's bickering, "Technically, you're not hurting me if im offering first."

Sure, ryujin was right, sayeon had no idea what she was signing herself up for, ryujin could take her life at any given time and oddly enough that didnt scare her enough to back down. But on the other hand, she couldn't just leave her to continue on like this, not just that but animal blood wasn't the easiest to get. Without a supply of blood soon, she would just spiral deeper into insanity and then she might actually end up killing someone, so she might as well.

After the stillness blew over, ryujin looked up with quite a paethetic look sayeon thinks but it was a silent looking asking if this was really okay and to that sayeon gave a smile. Ryujin took a deep breath and moved her face towards her sayeon's neck. Sayeon braced herself for the next action.

"dammit.." ryujin cussed under her breath, losing it as soon as she inhaled lee's scent, sayeon was pressed further into the wall and her fangs sunk right into her neck. Sayeon groaned squeezing her eyes shut, blindly threading her fingers in ryujin's hair to keep her grounded.

But the actual feeling of Ryujins’s fangs sinking into her flesh was nothing compared to what she imagined. It began with a brief stinging pain, before quickly fading into something more as she felt Ryujin feed on her blood like it would attain her salvation. Sayeon, meanwhile was biting down on her lower lip in fear of letting out some embarrassing sounds.

All the blood in her body rushed to her neck and face and with that all the lightheadedness hit her all at once causing her knees to wobble momentarily.

Ryujin, meanwhile, couldn’t help but feel like this was the most delicious blood she had ever tasted, she could get lost in it. The girl's blood was so addicitve and full of flavour that she couldn't help but want to give into her vampire instincts and devour her whole. But Ryujin knew herself she wouldn't go through with that. Her hands clenched the fabric of sayeons shirt at her back as she continued to lean in and feed off her. God, even her scent was mesmerizing.

Ryujin panted, keeping her face against sayeon's neck just until she recovered, both of their chests rising almsot in sync. Moments later, ryujin whipped her head up to check sayeon's condition, she had definately paled a lot more..

"Glasses? Fuck..you're pale as shit.."

"I-im alright.." Sayeon spoke with a hint of red apparent on her cheeks. She moved her hand from ryujin's hair to rest under chin tilting it up to wipe off the blood that remained on the corners of the vampire's mouth. Ryujin let her do so without an argument. After a minute had passed by, she let go off her chin with no blood left around her mouth.

"What about you?"  Sayeon spoke up

"Better." She was silent for moment speaking up in a less audible tone, "Thank you glasses, I guess I really owe you one."

"Oh, right. Anytime."

“But you seriously can be so stupid." Ryujin continued, biting back the edge in her tone. “What if I couldn’t bring myself to stop?”

Sayeon blinked,  "But you did stop?"

“That’s not the point glasses. I could have hurt you, hell maybe even killed you if i wasnt in check. You’re not just some random stranger. I don’t... I don’t want to drag you into this.”

“You didn’t drag me into anything. I made a choice and I chose to put my trust in you."

“You’re insane.”  She sighed
