Like Father, Like Daughter

Summary:

Karma is a weird and wonderful thing … but which way will it fall for Ilya.

Work Text:

There is a saying about Karma. Ilya remembered in his early years at Boston one of the players had said. “I hope you get a daughter who grows up just like you. Or tries to date a man, like you.”

Ilya had scowled but at the time he would have refused to have children. He was terrified of passing on his genes would have been terrifying.

That was then.

Now, his life was so different.

Now, he had a family, and he was Canadian with a husband and two wonderful children, a son and a daughter.

Irina and Mikael were floating around the ice as it was early practice on game day. Ilya felt this was likely his last season because he had set out and achieved everything in his life. He loved the family atmosphere the Centaurs had built as a culture.

Shane was supporting Mikael with some moves he had asked his Dad about. Ilya had pouted but Misha may have a Russian name but he was a mini carbon copy of Shane in both looks and mannerisms. It was honestly adorable and Ilya still to this day did not know how he got this lucky.

As a result, Ilya was fondly watching their little blonde tornado tearing up the ice with a confidence that some of the rookies didn’t display. He should probably stop her but it was too fun. He would do many things in this world to hear that laugh.

Ilya had a teasing grin and smirk on his face as he loudly proclaimed, “Oh no, you have a weak backhand like your Dad.”

There was a gasp of indignant rage that only a five year old could manage. Then, the cutest most ridiculous scene played out with laughter and love.

Little Irina still scowling, threw her gloves and stick down, on the ice and charged at her Papa.

The laughing made several around the ice stop and stare. The other Hollander-Razonov’s shared a sappy smile and skated closer. Misha was still a teenager and was videoing what he hoped would be blackmail. He wasn’t too sure if it would be against his sister or father but leverage was always ready when it was needed.

“Go ‘Rina.” Misha shouted in sibling solidarity.

Shane was laughing and merry in a way that no one in the Montreal Metros would have ever recognized. “Okay, break it up. Roughing penalty.”

Irina pouted. “He said I have weak backhand.”

Shane rolled his eyes, “I know baby, but your Papa says that about me too.”

“We should get him together.” Irina declared with a simple logic.

There was a wicked grin on Ilya’s face and Shane just knew he wanted to make a dirty comment about his Dad loving wresting. Shane managed to keep a straight face, barely. “Okay two minutes for 24-81 for roughing and two minutes to 81 for being a menace.”

Mikael giggled, “I am not sure that is in the rules.”

Shane smirked, “It is best way to explain it around little ears.”

Mikael and Shane escorted the pair to the sin bin and put them in time out. The pair sat pouting and looking at the clock.

Harris, the communications director, had seen the way everyone paused on the ice to see the heart warming moment. It was chaos and fun in a way that you would expect from their leading family.

Harris had got his hands on the footage - it had only taken a small bribe. The latest Centaur beanie which was a limited edition run.

Like father, like daughter. Go Centaurs! 💚

@shanehollandorreal - We wouldn’t have them any other way 🩷

@ilyarozanov - Ref was biased!

@MishaHR - She will takeover the whole of Canada. And I love her for it.

@HaydenPike - If our kids are on one team -Stanley cup or Sin Bin?

Reply

@shanehollanderreal - Easy. Both, the sin bin time will give the opposition a chance to catch up.

There was a truth in all of it but Shane wouldn’t have it any other way. Life was good and more damningly he didn’t care about the Metros anymore…
