Do you have any idea how much fucking pain I was in–” Aventurine choked on his own words, his thin frame shaking — from the cold, or from the strength of his sobs, Ratio could not tell — his tears mixing with the rain as they kissed their way down his cheek, the same way blood kissed skin as it dripped in rivulets, the same way Ratio had once kissed him.
“It hurt,” Aventurine said, barely louder than a whisper. “It hurt so much I thought about killing myself, I thought about downing an entire bottle of pills, having them find me on the floor of my apartment, because I didn’t want to live in a world without you!”
