Chapter Text
One.
Grian stood at the top of the cliff, his body shaking with adrenaline, inhaling the sand and dust from what once was Scar's body.
He won.
He tried to move his body, to jump, but it didn't listen.
A few deep breaths, he knew that the longer it took him to jump the less likely he was to actually do it.
Okay, he will do it now.
Eh, now!
Okay, three, two, one.
Grian groaned with frustration, pure anger running through his veins.
Why can't he just do it!?
Just jump!
His body finally obeyed, he could feel his heart pumping in his chest, he was going to die, it was over...
The fall felt... Long? Longer than it should.
And Grian died, he knows he did, he felt what it feels like to die before, it was exactly this!
So why could he open his eyes?
His eyelids flung open with fear, and he was greeted with millions of creatures looking at him, watching.
"Congratulations."
"What!?" -Grian stood up in a panic.
"You have won. You shall live eternally as your reward."
"N-No! No! Fuck, I want to die! Let that be my prize!" -He was crying at this point.- "Besides, why are you intervening!? You were only meant to watch!"
This struck a cord, the purple light that lightened up the darkness got brighter, the air got colder.
"We could say the same to you."
With that, they disappeared, leaving Grian alone.
The world slowly gained colour, shapes, and it was... Outside?
He looked around to see a border, the same one that kept them inside before.
But no one was around, everything was empty.
Of course, he didn't hesitate this time, climbing the tallest mountain there was and jumping off of it.
Pain shot through his legs, but he lived. Half a heart that no matter what he tried to do would never disappear.
Immortal. Alone. And defeated, Grian laid on the ground crying for days, weeks, months.
He hasn't moved an inch, hoping that maybe, maybe, somehow he'll die. But he never did. Maybe he never will.
