Saw the Veil trend and honestly it fits them so fricking much
+ maybe I’ll make a follow up piece, who knows

Notes:
Some small easter eggs in the painting:
1- Arthur’s mural is a direct reference to the wool tapestry titled “The Nine Heroes” only without the beard (I tried to add it but it looked terrible) + also inspired by the 1903 oil painting by C.E. Butler
2- I changed all the jewels’ colors to either red or blue, to represent both Arthur and Merlin’s influence on his reign
3- “We are waiting for you” is probably the most obvious one
4- All the base colors used to paint Merlin are the same I used to paint Arthur, just duller
5- “future” is crossed out because the future part of the prophecy hasn’t yet been completed
6- Arthur is turned towards the light and away from Merlin, while Merlin is turned away from the light but towards Arthur
7- Arthur was supposed to represent the sun, and that’s why Merlin is lit by artificial lights in the painting
