Chapter Text
In this world, every child born is connected to a dragon egg that is chosen specifically for them. Parents always take the newborn child to the dragon cave, where the eggs are hidden, waiting for their destined rider. Each egg hatches only in the presence of his chosen rider. Sometimes, miraculously, dragons bring eggs to the families who have just welcomed a child, with whom they feel a connection. This gift is rare, but it does happen.
However, the peaceful world was once shaken by an unexpected miracle. A woman from a small village, living in poverty, gave birth to twins. The children shone with such powerful magic that everyone felt it before they even saw the light. When the mother arrived with the children at the dragon cave, none of the dragon eggs chose them.
As the brothers grew, the eldest began to discover the secrets of dark magic. Suspicions began to spread quickly. Many said that this child, with such powerful magic, was a sign of dark forces. The twins, who grew up without a dragon, were considered dangerous and strange, even though neither brother understood why the dragons avoided them.
The eldest brother, however, began to uncover the dark secret hidden within his magic. A dark spell that gave him power, but also false promises. Many who encountered him began to fear what he might cause. Above all, he began to feel envy and a desire for power.
The younger brother, who was always more sensitive, felt that something was wrong, and his heart was filled with fear. As his brother was consumed by the darkness, he himself experienced an inner battle between love for him and the threat he posed to the world. The dark path his brother walked slowly became inevitable.
One night, the eldest brother discovered a way to give both of them dragons. It was an ancient ritual formula mentioned in old books, but it was dangerous and forbidden. He knew it would be risky, but he decided to go ahead. That night, while their mother slept, the brothers silently prepared everything for the ritual and sneaked out of their hut into the forest. They only lit one torch, their hearts pounding with excitement and fear, as they made their way to the dragon cave.
The cave was immersed in silence, with a few dragons sleeping inside, their bodies covered in delicate scales, and several eggs around them. The brothers sneaked deeper into the cave, trying to find an egg that was abandoned, unguarded by its parents. After searching for a long time, they finally found two beautiful white eggs—one partly covered in red scales, the other in green. They knew these were the ones meant for them. Without hesitation, they took them and made their way back to the forest.
The eldest brother immediately began the ritual. When they stood in the center of the forest, he started preparing the ceremony according to the ritual steps he had studied. However, the younger brother felt increasing discomfort. Something was wrong, something that wouldn't let him rest. He acted hesitantly, but the elder brother ignored him, immersed in his mysterious speaking in an unknown language.
Around them, a red glow began to form, growing stronger with each word spoken. When the brothers sprinkled the eggs with their own blood, the pain in their chests became unbearable, and at that moment, everything around them exploded in a mighty blast. The energy burst so powerfully that it knocked down trees and created a deep crater. Where they had stood before, only an empty, scorched space remained, and both brothers lay at its center, completely exhausted, but still holding the eggs in their arms.
The explosion woke the whole village. People and dragons rushed to see what had happened. When they arrived at the site, they found the twins sitting in a smaller crater. Both held tiny dragons in their arms, whose appearance was incredible. The younger brother had a white dragon with light green wings and eyes that reflected his own. The eldest brother had a slightly larger white dragon, but with red wings and eyes that burned with the same danger as his own heart.
That day, everyone realized that the world, as they knew it, had changed forever.
The dragons grew incredibly quickly, as did their magic. The younger brother began using his power for healing and creation, bringing prosperity and happiness to the village. Sometimes, he could even briefly see into the future or the fates of people. His dragon was calm and loyal, just like him. However, the older brother and his dragon began to sink into darkness. His desire for power grew, as did his bond with the dragon, which led him to darker spells.
The village began to fear the eldest brother. His actions became increasingly wild. He went on expeditions, attacking neighboring villages that refused to give him what he wanted. His heart, much like his dragon's heart, began to be consumed by darkness. The mother of the twins, desperate and helpless, lost patience and decided to stop him. She attempted to poison her son, but he discovered it and, in one furious moment, had his dragon burn her body before everyone, including his younger brother.
The village was in shock. The darkness the eldest brother had brought now flourished in full force, and no one was sure what would happen next.
Several years later, the eldest brother fought the emperor of their land and his dragon. The emperor and his dragon stood no chance against his power. The eldest brother's dragon was much stronger, faster, and more resilient than the emperor's, and after a short but decisive battle, both fell. The kingdom was lost, and the new ruler, the eldest brother, immediately claimed the kingdom as his own.
"Finally... it's mine," Hisashi whispered as he stood on the throne, with a dark smile that had become second nature to him. His victory, however, came at a cost.
In his newfound power, he fell in love with one of his servants, named Inko. She had a smaller, but brave dark green dragon, who always stood by her side. Although her position in court life was lowly, Inko was able to find something that had long been lost. A flicker of goodness that still smoldered within his dark soul.
Inko tried to lead him out of the darkness that had consumed him, and brought him a love he never thought he could feel. When his rule settled, another message arrived that changed everything. Inko was pregnant with his child.
Yoichi later learned what his brother had done and decided not to stand by him any longer.
--------------------
Both brothers stood opposite each other on the ramparts, their dragons flying above them.
"Hisashi! This madness must finally end! Can't you see what you've caused?"
"My dear little brother," Hisashi laughed darkly, his voice full of ominous pleasure. "Don't worry. I've made sure this kingdom falls into the right hands."
"No... Your people are suffering, Hisashi! You've killed so many innocent people!" Yoichi shouted, nearly desperate. "And our mother!"
"WHO TRIED TO POISON ME, YOICHI!"
Hisashi's eyes blazed with fury. "Have you forgotten that?! She was weak. She couldn't see that I am the one who has the right to rule. I am their master! I decide who lives and who dies!"
"No! That's not true!" Yoichi stared at his brother with growing horror. "You can't think like that! You're destroying everything!"
Yoichi paused for a moment and looked deep into his brother's eyes. He had hoped to find at least some trace of light in them, but unfortunately, he found nothing.
"I hoped this would never happen, Hisashi."
Yoichi quickly reached out and sent a powerful shock wave towards his brother, driving a sword into his abdomen. Hisashi looked into his eyes in shock and the shock turned to anger. He grabbed Yoichi by the neck and tossed him aside. The wound in his stomach began to heal thanks to dark magic.
"It doesn't have to end like this, Yoichi..."
However, Yoichi ignored his words and without hesitation, jumped from the ramparts. His dragon immediately reacted, took flight, and allowed him to land directly on his back. As soon as he settled into the saddle, the dragon immediately flew back toward Hisashi, destroyed part of the ramparts with a powerful blast of dragon fire, and quickly ascended into the air. Yoichi turned to see if he had hit his brother when a deep roar from Hisashi's dragon echoed behind them. Yoichi quickly turned and saw Hisashi sitting on his dragon, ready for another fight.
"Damn!" Yoichi shouted as he quickly soared into the sky.
Hisashi and his dragon followed closely behind, their presence radiating intense fury.
Yoichi knew he didn't have time to hesitate and disappeared among the clouds, trying to hide.
However, Hisashi and his dragon stopped and began searching for them, their eyes wildly scanning the air.
But Yoichi and his dragon surprised them from the side, unleashing dragon fire at them when they were completely unprepared.
Yoichi's dragon grabbed Hisashi's dragon by the neck and head and bit into his neck.
Yoichi hoped victory was within reach, but he was wrong. Hisashi's dragon dug his claws deep into dragon's belly and pierced his dragon through the heart with the pointed barb at the end of his tail.
Yoichi and his dragon felt unbearable pain as their bond began to tear apart. Both of them were falling to the ground, losing the connection that had kept them together for years.
At the last moment, Hisashi's dragon intervened, catching them just above the ground and throwing them onto a nearby meadow.
Yoichi survived the fall, but the destroyed bond between him and his dragon caused him terrible pain. The dragon was dead, and with it, a part of his soul.
-------------------
Hisashi locked his brother in one of the towers, hoping that with time, he could convince him to join him. He believed time would help Yoichi understand that Hisashi was not the villain.
However, neither of the brothers knew that the connection between a human and a dragon was far stronger than they could ever have imagined. In a normal bond, when one of them or their dragon dies, the other only feels emptiness and incompleteness.
When Hisashi examined their bond again, he discovered a part he had previously overlooked. Their blood connection meant that the death of one led to the death of the other.
Yoichi gradually withered. He slowly stopped eating, his strength faded, and his body grew weaker and more exhausted.
Hisashi was desperate. He turned to all the doctors, all those who practiced dark magic, but nothing worked.
At the last moment, he stayed by Yoichi's bed. Inko sat beside him, holding Yoichi's hand, just as helpless.
"Hi-sa-shi..." Yoichi spoke with his last strength, a stream of blood dripping from his lips. Hisashi leaned over him.
"What we’ve done won’t go without consequences... Your child will carry the same curse..."
Inko looked back and forth between Yoichi and Hisashi with horror.
Hisashi’s gaze was cold and neutral.
"I won’t allow it," he said firmly. "No dragon egg, no dragon, will come near my child, except for my dragon. I will make sure of it."
"Hisashi..." Yoichi coughed, slowly opening his pale eyes and meeting his brother’s gaze.
"No matter how you try to resist, you won’t stop it."
Yoichi slowly turned his gaze to Inko, his eyes filled with sadness and helplessness, as if he had suddenly realized something neither she nor Hisashi had known.
"I'm sorry..." he whispered, gently squeezing her hand. Inko looked at him confused. Then Yoichi placed his hand on her belly, which was already noticeably larger.
After a moment, he smiled. "It will be a boy... healthy and full of magic. I wish I could meet him, Hisashi..." Yoichi was able to recognize this thanks to his magic.
He smiled gently and, with his last breath, exhaled.
Hisashi lowered his head, tears beginning to fall freely down his face. Inko burst into tears.
He quickly kissed her forehead and whispered, "I’ll be back soon." Then he turned and left the room.
Hisashi mounted his dragon and, consumed by pure anger, no longer knew what to do. He flew with it to his former village, which was now abandoned.
Hisashi gave the order, and all the houses collapsed to the ground, consumed by fire. Everything in his path was set aflame.
---------------
Inko quietly watched the rising smoke cloud from the window.
Suddenly, a sharp pain struck her abdomen. She quickly clutched her stomach, her heart racing, and with a terrified glance, she looked again at the dark smoke cloud of fire.
Hisashi...
-------------------
Hisashi continued his fury, burning the village until nothing was left but ash. Then he headed toward the village of his enemies, one he had long been eyeing. Today was the perfect opportunity to attack.
With his dragon, they plunged through the clouds, and a large black shadow stretched over the village.
"Let the heavens fall on them..." Hisashi murmured to himself as they began.
-------------
While everything around them turned to chaos, servants discovered Inko and quickly led her to the bedroom, where midwives were already waiting. They began preparing everything for the birth.
As the hours passed, Inko endured more and more pain, and the midwives began to worry that things would not end well.
Then, in the moment of greatest pain, Inko screamed: "HISASHI!''
-------------
Hisashi felt a sudden surge of unease as something inside him broke. In the distance, he saw a flying dragon and immediately recognized Inko's dragon. Her loud roar was full of desperation as she flew toward him as fast as she could.
"Something has happened... INKO!"
Without hesitation, with his dragon at his side, he turned back. No, no, NO!
"I'm sorry..." Yoichi's voice echoed in his head.
"It will be a boy... healthy and full of magic. I wish I could meet him, Hisashi..."
He saw it again... the future! I should have stayed! It was my fault! This is their fault!
Yoichi was the first reason something broke inside him.
As he landed near the castle, he immediately jumped off his dragon’s back and ran to the castle, his heart pounding wildly.
"WHERE IS SHE?!"
The frightened servants quickly led him to the bedroom, where Inko lay.
He burst through the doors, and a deafening silence followed. His gaze rested on the bed, where Inko lay, her body limp, surrounded by so much blood.
His heart pounded as he knelt beside her bed, gently cupping her face in his hands. Inko was still breathing softly, but her breath was very faint.
Without a moment's hesitation, he used his healing magic, but as his spells tried to connect with her body, they no longer worked. It was too late. "Please... please, no."
Inko slowly opened her eyes, their gaze meeting his. Her lips formed a weak smile, and with her last strength, she whispered: "Hisashi... take care of our son... Izuku."
Then her eyes closed forever.
Hisashi remained in a trance, staring blankly at her frozen face. His hand gently rested on her hair, his fingers trembling as he tried to find some sign of life, even though he knew it was too late.
Tears fell down his face, dropping onto the ground, one by one.
Inko was the second reason. Something inside him snapped, and the darkness that had been hidden within him suddenly spilled out into everything around him.
At that moment, he was interrupted by a sudden cry from a child.
His eyes shot to the servant standing at the door, holding a baby wrapped in a blanket.
His gaze was filled with shock as he took the child in his arms.
"I'm so sorry... We did everything we could. Inko was loved by everyone here... It's a huge loss." With these words, she bowed, wiped the tears from her face, and left the room, leaving them alone.
Hisashi focused on the child now in his arms. It had beautiful, light green hair and small freckles on its face. He gently stroked its cheek with his thumb, and at that moment, as the child opened its eyes, the world around him stopped. They were the same eyes that Yoichi had.
The child lifted its tiny hand and tightly grasped his thumb, as if it knew that he was the one who would protect it.
Hisashi carefully leaned against the side of the bed, holding the child in his arms, tears still falling, as if they could not stop.
The child, sensing his sadness, began to cry.
"I will protect you, Izuku... I will protect you and never let you be alone. I will keep you safe. No dragon without a bond will come near you. I won’t allow you to suffer the same fate Yoichi did. Never."
A few days later, he gave the order to imprison all dragons in the kingdom, sending them to the dragon caves. Inko’s dragon was chained in an abandoned dragon cave, secured by chains so it couldn’t lay eggs that could threaten Izuku. He couldn’t afford to take any risks. The kingdom issued a dragon ban — any dragon seen in the vicinity would be killed without mercy.
His own dragon was the exception. It was the only one that could stay, as it could not lay eggs. And there was the threat that someone might kill his dragon, which would endanger his own life. He didn’t want to allow the possibility that he might die like Yoichi, so he kept his dragon close.
That day, Hisashi gave himself a new name. All For One. And he decided that his son would be safe forever. Izuku was his last light before his darkness.
