The Colors of Us: Or A Picture is Worth 600 Words

Summary:

A drabble series of snapshots of the relationship between Severus Snape and Hermione Granger.

Just as our characters are deep, multifaceted, and rich in lore so are the colors that accompany them.

Notes:

This idea was first fleshed out on tumblr, back in the days when I had a hyphen in my name, from a prompt from TW.

It is now complete for NJ's bday. H&C has been a fandom home for me for several years and I am very thankful for it.

Much love, Q. 💗

Chapter 1: yellow: sickly and translucent, a splatter across the canvas

Chapter Text

“How’s the patient?” Madame Pomfrey asked, moving aside the curtain.

Hermione woke sharply in the uncomfortable barrel chair.

The Matron looked kindly down at her. “Not awake, then.”

Hermione shook her head. “No, nothing.” She looked up at Pomfrey’s gentle, calm face and suddenly felt her throat grow thick. The crushing weight of the last several days had caused her resolve to slip. If he dies, my best wasn’t good enough… “What if-- what if--” she stuttered through tears.

“None of that now,” Pomfrey tutted, retucking the bedsheet around Snape’s prone body. “There’s still time. Severus is nothing but stubborn.”
