Work Text:

Despite the sun having already set, it’s still unbearably warm. Too fucking hot to be walking around Austin in a suit.

Jared regrets his decision to walk home. He’s already taken off his jacket and now he stops to wrestle his tie off his neck. He feels hot and sticky and there’s still at least a forty-five minute walk ahead of him. He’s dying to get out of this monkey suit and into something comfortable.

It doesn’t help that he’s exhausted from having to be ‘on’ for so many hours. But he helped raise a shit-ton of money for Paws, the no-kill animal shelter that he both provides veterinarian services for and is a board member of. Jared also works part-time for his cousin’s veterinarian clinic, so he spends much more of his time dealing with animals rather than people. Having to talk to so many potential financial donors over the course of the four-hour ceremony and banquet reminded him very clearly of why he generally prefers the company of animals. The elite of Austin can be very generous with their money, but they expect a lot of fawning and ass-kissing in exchange.

Jared pushes his hair out of his eyes. His hair feels damp. He feels damp all over. Maybe he should give up and call an Uber. In ten minutes, he could be home, sprawled out on his couch dressed in his comfortable sweats and basking in the coolness of his air conditioner. Jared pulls his phone out of his pocket and starts searching for his Uber app, ignoring messages from his friends and family for now.

“Excuse me, you’re Jason, right?”

Jared stops walking. He looks up from his phone and realizes that while he was staring at his phone he's been approached by the most beautiful man he’s ever seen. Like ever. Like he never thought of ‘taking my breath away’ as a literal thing that happens to someone, but it feels like all the breath has been stolen from his body by the prettiest eyes he’s ever seen.

“Sorry?”

“I’m Jensen, I think you might be looking for me. You’re Jason, right?” the man asks again. “I was beginning to think you weren’t coming. I was just about to call the agency when I saw you. We’ve got to get a move on, we’re going to be late.”

The man—Jensen apparently—grabs Jared by his hand and starts pulling him further down the street.

Jared really should tell the man he isn’t Jason. But he’s still kinda stuck on how damn beautiful Jensen is. Jared is about to tell Jensen he’s got the wrong man when Jensen stops walking. They are in front of a big church. The big doors are open and Jared can hear the sounds of people talking and laughing inside.

Jensen turns to Jared and looks him over. Jared is suddenly acutely aware of the sweat pooling at his throat and how damp the back of his shirt feels against his overheated skin.

This is the moment Jared should confess he’s not Jason. And he’s going to do just that. He really wishes he was Jason though, because he would really like to spend an hour or two just looking at this man. He’s so freaking beautiful. And somehow the freckles that are scattered over the man’s nose and cheeks make him look even more enticing. How long has it been since Jared spent time with a gorgeous man? Too long.

“I asked for tall because I wanted us to really stand out. I know that sounds petty, but damn it, after all I’ve been put through, I’m fucking okay with being petty. I didn’t realize you’d be this tall though, but you’re so damn pretty that makes up for it. Gregory is going to be drooling, along with everyone else. Maybe you should go ahead and put your jacket back on.”

Jensen is dressed in a nice suit, far nicer than Jared’s, which he picked up at a discount suit store in the mall. Jensen’s suit fits him perfectly, showing off his expansive shoulders and trim waist. Jared wonders what the man is hiding underneath the gray jacket and dark gray dress shirt. As broad as the man’s shoulders are, Jared is betting Jensen works out some. Maybe not as much as Jared does, who hits the gym every day, but enough for the alluring possibility of a muscular chest and strong arms.

Jared has a very quick debate with himself. The thing is, he’s just been on his best behavior for hours, he figures he’s owed a few rewards. And spending time with this beautiful man certainly beats going home to an empty house—well, empty except for three dogs, two foster cats, and a rabbit he’s nursing back to health. If Jason wanted to be with this divine man, he should’ve shown up on time. Jason’s loss is definitely Jared’s gain.

Mind made up, Jared puts his jacket back on. Jensen reaches up and adjusts it, pulling on the collar and rolling up the sleeves of the jacket. Jared lets him. He’s acutely aware of how divine Jensen smells and how breathtaking he looks, even up close when no one should look this damn perfect.

He’s also reminded that it’s been a while since he’s gotten laid. Too long, judging by how his dick is coming to life inside of his too-tight dress pants and the guy has barely touched him. He’s been a bit gun-shy since Kevin and while he’s not really into casual flings, he thinks he might make an exception tonight with Jensen.

Besides he’s not Jared tonight, he’s not the guy who put his trust in the wrong person and is still paying the price, not the guy who overthinks every interaction he has with men. Tonight, he’s Jason. It’s kind of freeing.

“Should I put the tie back on?” Jared asks.

“No, leave it. But—”

Jensen pulls Jared’s head down and kisses him. Jared is so shocked he just stands there for a moment, his arms stiffly held to his sides. By the time his brain catches up with what is happening, Jensen is pulling away. His lips are shiny-wet now and his cheeks are flushed and Jared decides no way in hell is he going to tell this guy that he isn’t Jason.

“All right then. Now that you look properly kissed, let’s do this thing.”

Jensen holds his hand out to Jared. Jared accepts it. He has no idea what ‘this thing’ is, but he’s all on board with doing it. And anything else that Jensen wants him to do.

They walk up the stairs and are greeted at the double doors by a young woman in a very flowery dress and wearing a pair of pointy pink shoes with heels that she is precariously balancing on. She’s wearing big dangly silver earrings, too much makeup, and by the scent that is wafting over from her, way too much perfume.

“Jensen, I was beginning to think you wouldn’t make it,” the girl says. Jensen and the girl share air kisses. “And I see you brought along a plus one. Care to introduce us?”

“Misty, this is Jason. Jason, this is an old friend of mine, Misty.”

Jared shakes Misty’s hand. She is looking at him with open curiosity.

“I was just about to shut the doors. You’re lucky the bride is fashionably late. Matt can usher you to your seats.”

“No need. We’ll find our own seats. Somewhere in the back where it's just us, we haven’t seen each other all week and we have some catching up to do,” Jensen says with a wink to Misty.

Misty giggles. “I’d tell you to behave, but I’d be wasting my breath.”

“Absolutely you would,” Jensen agrees. He grabs Jared’s hand and pulls him into the nave. The church is decorated with pink and white flowers everywhere, with an arch of pink and white roses in front of the podium. Candles lit on candelabras scattered throughout the room provide the only light. Jensen leads Jared into the very back row. He doesn’t let go of Jared’s hand, even after they are seated.

The minister is already standing in front of the arch, where he is joined by a man wearing a dark tuxedo with a pink tie. The man is maybe in his early thirties, hair so blonde that it has to have come from a bottle, his bangs artfully falling into his eyes. He says something to the minister and the minister laughs.

It’s not until then that Jared realizes Jensen’s hands are trembling, just a bit. Something he probably wouldn’t even notice if their hands weren’t so tightly clasped together.

There’s a pinging sound and Jensen grimaces. “Sorry, I forgot to put my phone on silent.”

Jensen doesn’t let go of Jared’s hand, just fishes his phone out of his pocket with his free hand. As Jensen takes care of his phone, Jared pulls his out of his pocket and puts it on silent as well. Jared looks back over at Jensen who is staring at something on his phone, a slight frown on his face. Jensen looks over at Jared and their gazes lock for a moment, before Jensen pockets his phone.

“ You know, I thought it’d be weird, being all touchy and feely with a guy I've never met, especially since I'm usually not the kind of guy that likes being affectionate in public, but this is kind of nice.” As if to prove his point, Jensen leans over and presses his lips against Jared’s.

Jared's lips are still tingling when Jensen pulls away. “Yeah, it's very—uh—nice.”

Jared feels his cheeks flushing under Jensen’s gaze. He wishes he knew exactly what is going on here, but he doesn't know how to ask without revealing he isn't Jason. Before he can say anything, music begins to play. The doors, which had been closed after Jared and Jensen entered the nave, are reopened and all the heads in the room turn toward them.

Jensen doesn’t let go of Jared’s hand, not once during the long procession. The wedding party is fucking huge. Several pairs of bridesmaids and groomsmen pass by. The women are dressed in short frilly pink dresses, the groomsmen in dark suits with pink ties, just like the groom.

Jared’s fingers are growing numb and he’s getting tired. He was already tired before coming here, and the adrenalin rush he felt after meeting Jensen is wearing off as the wedding party seems to go on and on.

Finally, a cute little girl dressed in a pink dress tied with a huge bow walks down the aisle, tossing petals of white and pink. She’s followed by a boy slighter older than she is, his frown as big as the girl’s smile. He’s holding a cushion on which a ring box has been placed.

There is a pause, and everyone stands, including Jared and Jensen. The wedding march begins.

The bride appears, followed by two more bridesmaids who are holding onto her long, elaborate train. Her dress is white and adorned with pink pearls. Jared looks at Jensen, wondering if he’s here for the bride or the groom. Jensen is unsmiling, his body tense. He’s staring at her with a hard expression on his face and if they are here for the bride, it’s certainly not because Jensen is fond of her.

There’s more pomp and circumstance and finally the minister indicates everyone should sit down. Jared tunes out the wedding ceremony. He’s not a big fan of elaborate weddings, and certainly not interested in the wedding of two strangers. Instead, he spends his time sneaking glances at Jensen. Jensen stares straight ahead, his expression not giving away whatever he’s feeling, but he’s still holding on to Jared’s hand tightly, so Jared knows he’s more affected by what is going on than he wants to let on.

Jared lets his mind wander, imagining what Jensen might look like without the suit. Is he pretty all over? He hopes Jensen kisses him again. Jensen has lips that look like they were made for sinning. Maybe they can go somewhere after all this is over—Jared wouldn’t mind spending some alone time with this beautiful man. It’s been ages since he’s been this attracted to someone.

Jared is startled out of his reverie by the sound of the wedding guests laughing and clapping. Everyone is standing again as the bride and groom make their way back down the aisle. The bride is beaming, the groom has a protective arm around her waist. Jared has to admit that they make a beautiful couple.

He’s so busy looking at the couple that he’s taken by surprise—again—when Jensen turns to him and pulls Jared into another kiss. Jensen is pressing his body so tightly against Jared’s that Jared is having the kind of thoughts you probably shouldn’t be having in a church. They are both breathless when Jensen pulls away.

Jared gets a sense of maybe what’s going on as several of the departing wedding guests stop to talk to Jensen. Many of them are looking at Jensen with what appears to be pity in their eyes, and more than one hints at being surprised that Jensen showed up at the wedding. A few mention that they haven’t seen Jensen since—and then they shrug or smile, leaving the rest of the sentence hanging in the air. Jensen must have history with either the bride or the groom. Jared gets introduced as Jason to several people as they make their way out of the church. Jensen broadly hints to everyone they talk to that Jared—or rather Jason—and Jansen are very much an item and are very happy together.

“So, I’m guessing it won’t be long until I’ll be attending another wedding,” one of the guests, a man Jensen introduced as Matthew, says.

Jensen brings Jared’s hand to his lips and kisses the back of Jared’s hand. Jared’s whole body tingles and he lets his mind wander to how those lips would feel against many other parts of his body. Jensen smiles, but doesn’t confirm or deny that a wedding is imminent.

Jared guesses these are people that Jensen doesn’t intend to see again or why would he go to all this trouble of making people believe that he and Jensen are in love? Friends of Jensen’s ex, Jared figures. He just doesn’t know if it’s the bride or the groom who is Jensen’s ex, but he’d be willing to bet quite a bit of money that it’s one of them.

If Jensen is putting on the show, the least Jared can do is to make sure it’s a good one. Jared puts his arm around Jensen’s waist and kisses Jensen lightly on the lips. One of the guests smiles at them fondly as they pass them by. Jensen smiles up at Jared and Jared wishes the smile was for him, not for this Jason guy.

They are standing at the top of the stairs outside the church when a pink Cadillac pulls up in front of the church. The bride and groom pose for a series of pictures in front of the car, sometimes joined by members of the wedding party or with relatives. Jensen’s eyes never leave them, even when another wedding guest tries to make small talk with him.

Finally, the bride hugs all her friends and the groom waves at everyone. Jared feels it the moment the groom’s eyes meet Jensen’s. Jensen puts his arm around Jared’s waist and yanks Jared closer to him. The groom blows a kiss in Jensen’s direction. Everyone around them is suddenly quiet.

Jensen’s history is definitely with the groom. And the relationship did not end with them on good terms.

As soon as the Cadillac pulls away, Jensen begins leading Jared down the stairs.

“The reception is not far,” Jensen says.

He doesn’t ask if Jared is going to the reception, he seems to assume he is. This must have been prearranged with Jason, whoever Jason is. It’s strange that Jensen made all these plans with a man he apparently never met.

Jensen leads Jared to a black car. It’s a classic Impala in impeccable condition. Jared whistles as he walks all around the beautiful car. He loves cars, especially classic cars.

“You like?” Jensen asks with obvious pride.

“She’s a beauty,” Jared answers honestly. Jensen opens the passenger door for him, like a fucking gentleman, and Jared’s smiling big as he slips into the seat. The interior of the car is as well taken care of as her exterior is.

Jensen gets in and starts the car. Jared’s not surprised by how the engine purrs.

Jensen takes a deep breath and blows it out. He looks over at Jared and smiles and then pulls the car out into the street.

“So, we’re going to have to really sell this thing at the reception.” Jensen looks over at Jared quickly before looking back at the road. They’re following a long line of cars. Jensen still seems nervous, his fingers tapping on the wheel as if to a song only he can hear. “The agency says you’ve had some acting experience, yes?”

Jared startles. He does have acting experience, practically lived in the theatre at the university when he wasn’t in classes or studying. He had gotten bitten by the acting bug bad, tried out for every production, got cast in several, even landed the lead in a play or two. For a while there he had thought about changing majors, thought about giving up his dream of caring for animals for a very different dream of bright lights, and perhaps even giving Hollywood a try. But in the end he had said goodbye to acting when he had been accepted to veterinarian school.

“I’ve done some acting,” Jared says to Jensen.

“Great, that’s great,” Jensen says, his fingers tap-tap-tapping on the wheel. “We’ll have to do a lot of touching at the reception in order for everyone to think we’re a couple. The agency said you’d be okay with that—I mean of course you would be, right? Considering what it is you do. Not that there is anything wrong with what you do, of course.”

Agency. Jensen must really have scrambled Jared’s brain cells with his pretty eyes and his pretty smile and smoking hot body because it’s taken Jared this long to figure out what’s going on here. Jensen hired an escort for the evening. Jensen thinks Jared is Jason, who is probably a high-end escort, perfect to take to fancy functions—and to take to bed.

Shit. Maybe he really should come clean.

“I hope you’re still on board with spending the night after the reception. I could really blow off some steam after all this, you know?” Jensen asks.

Or he could continue to play along. Really, what does it matter if Jensen thinks he’s an escort? And it’s not like they’ll see each other after tonight or that Jensen will ever find out he’s not Jason.

It makes Jared weirdly sad that he won't see Jensen again after tonight. He didn't know Jensen existed until an hour ago and now he’s pining over him like a lovestruck teenager. He wants more, but he can make do with a night of hot heavy fun sex.

“Did the agency send you the list? I hope you’re okay with everything on it. Oh, we’re here.” They are at the entrance of a parking lot, Jensen’s fingers still drumming on the steering wheel as he waits his turn to pull in.

The list? List of what? Is it a list of what Jensen wants in bed? What Jensen wants to do to Jared or what Jensen wants Jared to do to him? Jared’s imagination goes on a wild tour, imagining all the possibilities of things that could be on the list.

Jared feels this whole thing should be freaking him out, instead, his cock is getting so hard he’s going to be walking around the reception with a very obvious bulge. He’s never been so desperate for another man before, not even Kevin. His cock, thankfully, deflates a bit thinking about Kevin. A reminder that a pretty face can hide a lot of sins.

It’s all right though. It doesn’t matter what manner of man Jensen is. Jared’s not going to be dating him, just spending a night with him. Tomorrow they can part ways and never see each other again.

Jared pulls out his phone and starts texting. If he’s spending the night with Jensen, he’s going to need Chad to take care of his animals.

Chad texts back immediately—a string of eggplants and peaches and exclamation points.

“Problem?” Jensen asks as he parks the car.

They’re in front of some club Jared has never been to. The parking lot is already full of cars. Apparently, these people are popular—either that or they’re giving out free booze.

“Just checking in with a buddy to let them know everything is okay,” Jared says, pocketing his phone.

“That’s smart, is that something you guys always do when you have a—a date?” Jensen asks.

They get out of the car and Jensen once again grabs Jared’s hand. Jared nods. “Better safe than sorry.”

“Absolutely,” Jensen agrees. “Oh, there’s Gregory. Hold on.”

The Cadillac—which must have taken the long way—pulls up in front of the club, mere feet from where Jared and Jensen are standing. The bride is still wearing her wedding dress, but without the veil and the train must have been detachable because it’s gone as well. The wedding dress is form-fitting and low-cut. Jared’s not into women, but he still has eyes, and she looks dazzling in the sparkly dress. The groom is still wearing his tuxedo. Gregory looks over at Jared and Jensen.

Jensen pulls Jared to him. “Make it good,” he whispers. Jared has a sudden fierce need to lay claim to Jensen. He takes charge this time, yanking Jensen closer to him and then claiming his lips. He lets his hands wander down Jensen’s back. Jensen is very, very good at kissing. Jared would very much like to find out what else Jensen is good at.

By the time the kiss ends, Jared’s in a bit of a daze and his cock is aching. He blinks down at Jensen, who doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to let him go.

Jared glances over at the Cadillac. The bride and groom are no longer standing there, Jared assumes they went inside the club sometime during their kiss.

“You’re damn good at kissing,” Jensen says. He sounds more than a bit breathless and Jared feels a bit smug. That is until Jensen continues talking. “I mean, I guess you have to be, with all the practice you must have had.”

Right. Jensen thinks he’s an escort. Jared pulls away from Jensen, some of the warm glow from the kiss fading. “So, I’m guessing I’m here to make the groom jealous.”

Jensen nods. “I worked my ass off, put the fucker through law school, and then opened Facebook the day of his graduation to find his family and friends congratulating him on his engagement. Which was not to me, but to Hailey, a woman Gregory swore he was just friends with.”

“Men are fuckers,” Jared replies. “I found my ex in bed with two men I’d never seen before. He didn’t even care that I caught him. He just smirked and invited me to join them.”

“Both of our exes are dickwads. I threw mine out of our house that day and I thought I was over him—until I got the wedding invitation. I mean, he wasn’t even that good in bed, so I should be feeling sorry for her, not feeling betrayed and lost and shit. Fuck, I really want to be over him, but instead, I contacted a freaking escort service to send someone pretty enough to make him jealous. I’m out a thousand bucks and he’s happy with his new bride. I really am an idiot.”

A thousand bucks? Maybe Jared should consider changing careers. Of course, that might have included the suit. And apparently, Jason had agreed to spend the night.

“I’ve got to ask, why did you contact an escort service?” They are still standing close enough that their feet are practically touching and yet Jared would like to be even closer. “I mean, look at you. It’s kind of hard to believe you couldn’t have found a date on your own. Not that I’m complaining, you understand. On the contrary, I’m feeling all kinds of lucky right now.”

“Just a bit gun-shy I suppose. Plus, I wanted to come with someone drop-dead gorgeous, which you obviously are. And my business keeps me kind of busy, so I don’t have a lot of time for socializing.”

“What is it that you do?” Jared asks.

The club door opens and Jared hears laughter drifting from inside. He knows to make Jensen’s ex jealous, they really should go inside, but he’s very curious about the beautiful man in front of him. And he likes having Jensen’s full attention. He likes everything about Jensen. Even though this isn’t real between them, it kinda feels real, which probably means Jared is going to end up getting hurt. Again. But that’s a problem for tomorrow.

“I own a bar,” Jensen explains. “I’m the manager, the bookkeeper, I even bartend most evenings. It doesn’t leave me with a lot of free time. Plus, every night I see couples madly in love one night, fighting two nights later, and madly in love with someone else by the next weekend. Doesn’t give you a lot of hope for happily-ever-after.”

“Sort of a cynical take on love to have at a wedding,” Jared replies teasingly.

The door of the club opens again and the groom steps out. He makes a beeline right to Jared and Jensen. He’s got a couple of flutes of champagne in his hands.

“Hey, the party’s inside, Jensen,” Gregory says. He’s obviously already had a few glasses of champagne. To be this inebriated, he must have started celebrating his marriage before the wedding even began. “What’s keeping you?”

“Just wanted to spend a few moments alone with my date,” Jensen replies. His voice is icy enough that Jared swears the temperature around the three of them just dropped a few degrees.

Gregory hands Jensen one of the flutes and then downs the other one. Jensen takes a sip and then hands it in to Jared. Gregory slowly looks Jared up and down. Jared is reminded again of how crumpled his suit is, and that it’s not even a particularly nice suit. And that he’s wearing scuffed boots. Whatever, he dresses for comfort, not to please anyone. He only wore the suit because Judy, the director of the animal shelter, insisted that people would take him more seriously if he wore one.

“And you are?” Gregory asks. His superior tone immediately irritates Jared, and he wants the man to go away, and quickly.

“I’m Ja—,” Jared says and then he remembers he’s not Jared and for the life of him, he can’t remember who he is supposed to be. Something that begins with J like his name. “Jay,” he finishes looking over Gregory’s head at Jensen, hoping the new name works for him. And then of course the name comes to him. Jay. Jason. Close enough.

“Jay. Like Jensen’s bar. How cute. I guess you two were meant to be.” Gregory sounds pretty jealous for a newlywed. Jared takes a sip of the champagne, which is probably pretty expensive, but he’s more of a whiskey kind of guy, and then gives it back to Jensen. He puts an arm around Jensen’s shoulder. Jensen fits perfectly. This isn’t real, but Jared is enjoying pretending it is.

And then Gregory’s words hit him. Jensen’s bar must be Jay’s Place. It’s a popular bar located in mid-town. Jared’s been once or twice. but he hasn’t seen Jensen there, because if he had, he surely would have remembered. The bar is friendly, noisy, and there’s always a band there, usually playing country-rock. Jared has a feeling he’s going to be visiting there more often in the future, no matter how the night turns out.

“So how did you two meet?” Gregory asks.

“At his bar. The second I saw Jensen, I knew he was the man for me,” Jared says, pulling Jensen even closer. Jensen looks up at him and Jared can’t help kissing him because his lips are just so dang kissable. Jared can’t believe this guy was stupid enough to let Jensen get away. If Jensen was Jared’s boyfriend for real, he’d hang on tight and never let him go.

Jensen’s hand wanders down Jared’s back and the next thing Jared knows his ass is being grabbed. Jared makes a noise that sounds embarrassingly like a squeak. Jensen smirks up at him. Gregory clears his throat.

“Gregory, why are you out here?”

The men look up at the club entrance. The bride is standing there, and by her expression, she’s none too happy.

“Come inside, people are asking for you,” she demands.

“Duty calls,” Gregory says. “I’d like a chance to talk to you later, Jensen. I feel like we have so much to catch up on.”

“I don’t think so. I think I’m going to take my boyfriend home now.” Jensen hands Gregory the mostly full flute of champagne. Jensen wraps an arm around Jared’s waist. Their bodies are pressed so close together, that Jared can feel Jensen’s hipbone digging into his abdomen. “Good luck with your marriage, Gregory. I think you’ll need it.”

Without waiting for a response, Jensen turns them both around and they start walking to Jensen’s car.

“We’re not going in?” Jared asks. “I thought you wanted to make him jealous.”

“So,did I. But you know—he’s my past and I just realized that I’m happy to leave him there. I’m glad I came though, because seeing him again—it makes me realize how lucky I am that things turned out the way that they did.”

Jensen pulls away from Jared as they reach the car. Jared misses Jensen being in his arms immediately. “Still okay with going home with me?”

Jared nods. He’s more than okay with that.

“Great.” Jensen once again holds the passenger door car open for Jared. “You can tell me where you want to begin on the list.”

“What list?” Jared asks as Jensen gets into the car.

“The list your agency insisted I complete. They did give you a copy, right?” Jensen asks as he starts the car.

Oh, that list. Jensen mentioned it before, but Jared had forgotten all about it with everything else that has happened. Jared fidgets in his seat. “They must have forgotten to send it.”

“I’m sure they’ll send it to you now if you ask them,” Jensen says. He pulls back out into the road. “I want to make sure you’re comfortable with everything on the list before we begin, so maybe you can check it out while I drive us to my house.”

“Sure,” Jared says. He pulls out his phone and looks at it, unsure of how to proceed. He should just come clean—but he doesn’t want the night to end. He’s looking forward to being alone with Jensen.

But starting a relationship with a lie is wrong.

Of course, this isn’t a relationship. Jensen has made it clear this is just a one-night-only thing for him.

Jared is just so drawn to Jensen. Does Jensen feel it too? That attraction, the feeling of possibilities. He’s not felt this strong of a pull to anyone in a very long time, maybe never.

“Jay?” Jensen asks. “Is there a problem? I hope it’s okay if I call you Jay. That’s what you said your name was back there, Jay, right? Short for Jason?”

“Yeah, well I mean, some people call me Jay. Mostly family I guess. Mostly my mom. I’m not sure why I said Jay when he asked my name,” Jared says. He’s babbling.

“I like it,” Jensen replies. “It fits you.”

He turns a corner. They’re in a nice neighborhood with mostly brick houses and carefully kept lawns. It looks like the neighborhood Jared grew up in, one that would be a great place to raise a family.

“Your bar is called Jay’s Bar. Is Jay your nickname too?” Jared asks. Jay and Jay. Maybe Gregory was right, maybe there are meant to be.

Maybe there is a way to turn this one-night stand into something more.

“Jensen Ackles. J.A. Jay. It just sounded cooler than Jensen’s Bar,” Jensen says with a shrug. He pulls into the driveway of a small red-brick house. “Did you get the list yet?”

Jared pockets the phone. He takes a deep breath. Maybe he should tell the truth before they go any further. He wants nothing more than to be with Jensen, but he wants to go to Jensen’s bed as Jared. Because he wants more than this one night. He wants to date Jensen, for real. He wants to get to know Jensen. And he wants Jensen to know him. So, he’s going to tell the truth, even if by doing so he’s risking Jensen kicking him to the curb. “I don’t have a list because I’m not Jason.”

Jensen turns in his seat and looks at Jared. “I know.”

Jared stares at him wide-eyed. “You know?” he asks, his shock clear in his voice.

“The message I got when we walked into the church was from the agency. The text said Jason couldn’t make it and promised to give me a full refund,” Jensen replies.

“You’ve known all this time and didn’t say anything?” Jared asks.

Jensen shrugs. “You’re cute as fuck and I’m attracted to you and I wanted to see how far you would take things.”

“You fucker,” Jared replies, laughing. “I’ve been sweating bullets and you’ve known all this time.”

Jensen smiles. “So, why did you do it? Why did you pretend to be Jason?”

“Because you’re cute as fuck and I’m attracted to you and I wanted to see how far you would take things,” Jared replies.

Jensen laughs. “So, who are you really?”

“I’m Jared Padalecki. I’m a veterinarian. I volunteer at Paws, and I work in my cousin’s clinic part-time. It’s the clinic on Brewer Street, the one with the big statue of a dog out front.”

“So, you’re a doctor. Smart and pretty. I think I’ve hit the jackpot,” Jensen replies. “So, Dr. Pedal—”

“Padalecki, but I much rather you call me Jared. Or Jay,” Jared says.

“Jay, then. So, Jay, I want to take you inside and get to know you better—the real you. And if you’re so inclined, I’m very open to the idea of you spending the night. But it’s totally your call, no pressure.”

“I’d like that very much. But I should tell you, I’m not much into one-night stands,” Jared responds.

“To be honest, neither am I. I am, however, very much into you. And I would like it very much if you spent the night with me, but there’s absolutely no pressure.” Jensen reaches over and grabs one of Jared’s hands, intertwining their fingers. His thumb rubs against the sensitive area between Jared’s index finger and thumb. “Whatever you decide, I want to see you again. My schedule is crazy, and I’m betting yours is too, but I’m very motivated to find time to get to know you a lot better.”

“I’d like that a lot,” Jared responds. He leans over and kisses Jensen slowly, deepening the kiss when Jensen makes a sound deep in his throat that goes right to Jared’s groin. “And I very much want to spend the night with you.”

“Let’s get inside where we can get a lot more comfortable. And by comfortable, I mean naked.” Jensen pulls away from Jared and opens his car door. Jared does the same and they meet in front of the car. They grab onto each other and start kissing again as they stumble-walk toward Jensen’s door.

Jensen lets Jared go enough to deactivate his alarm, open the door, and push Jared inside and then he’s kissing Jared again. They are moving again, but Jared is too focused on Jensen’s lips, the way that Jensen’s body is molded against his, to pay much attention to where they are going until they come to a stop in what must be Jensen’s bedroom.

Jensen leans back away from Jared, tugging on Jared’s suit jacket. Jared pulls it off and Jensen places a hand over his chest. “I’ve been watching these two buttons all night, hoping they give up the fight and just pop off. I can’t wait to see what these buttons have been hiding.”

Jensen grabs Jared’s shirt with both of his hands and tugs. Buttons go flying everywhere. Jared should probably be upset about the buttons, instead, he’s turned on even more than he was. Jensen pulls apart Jared’s shirt and when he looks back up at Jared he’s grinning. “Just as pretty as I imagined it would be.”

Jensen’s hands are on Jared’s bare chest and he teases both of Jared’s nipples with his fingers and Jared’s cock leaps to attention. Jared grabs Jensen’s head and yanks him into a kiss, kissing Jensen with all the desperation he is feeling.

“My turn,” Jared says. He helps Jensen out of his jacket and then unbuttons Jensen’s shirt slowly, button by button, his anticipation growing as more skin is exposed with every button. Jensen just lets him take his time, and lets Jared undress him like Jared’s unwrapping a present, which he very much feels he is.

The shirt finally off, Jared takes a moment to admire Jensen’s upper body. He was right about Jensen working out, he’s even more muscular than Jared guessed he would be. He’s perfect with his thick shoulders and upper arms tapering down to a slim waistline.

Jared needs to see more, needs to see everything. He goes to his knees, not missing Jensen’s sharp inhale of breath, and pulls Jensen’s shoes off one by one. Black shoes, polished, so different than Jared’s scuffed boots. Next, the socks come off. And now Jared can unwrap the best part of his present.

He sits back up on his haunches and looks up at Jensen. Jensen is looking down at him, his pretty eyes framed by long lashes, his pupils blown wide.

“Go ahead,” Jensen says and places a hand on Jared’s head. With the same slow pace, because he’s enjoying drawing out the anticipation, Jared unbuckles Jensen’s belt and then pulls down the zipper on Jensen’s pants. He pulls Jensen’s pants down, being sure to grab his boxers at the same time, and lowers them inch by inch, over Jensen’s hip bones, freeing Jensen’s cock which is long, thick, hard, and beautiful. While Jensen uses the hand on Jared’s head for balance, Jared pulls off Jensen’s pants one leg at a time.

Now Jensen is fully naked and Jared takes the time to look his fill. Every inch of Jensen is divine, from his picture-perfect face with his flushed cheeks to his hard nipples, flat stomach, long cock with a slight curve at the end, his muscular thighs which Jared is holding on to, his bowed legs.

Jared is thinking of seeing if Jensen’s cock tastes as good as it looks when his hair is gently tugged.

“Now, let me see you,” Jensen says. “C’mon on, pretty boy, I’ve been dying to see everything you’ve been hiding.”

The way Jensen growls ‘pretty boy’ has Jared so hard he can’t even think straight. He stands up too quickly, almost dizzy with the change in position, and with suddenly unsteady hands, tries to unbuckle his own belt. Jensen puts his hands over Jared’s.

“Let me.” Jensen guides Jared to the bed where Jared sits so heavily that the bed creaks in complaint. But he can’t focus on that, not with a naked Jensen kneeling in front of him. Jensen takes off Jared’s boots and then quickly, efficiently dispenses with the rest of Jared’s clothing.

“I guess this is the part where we should discuss what we want,” Jensen says. He runs his hands up Jared’s legs, to his thighs, and Jared’s cock jerks and he can feel precome leaking out of it.

“Anything. Everything,” Jared says. “I guess we can start with whatever was on that list.”

Jensen stands up and pulls Jared up too. He kisses Jared, his hand wandering down Jared’s back, down to his ass which he grips firmly. Their cocks are pressed together, the slide too rough to feel good, but Jared wouldn’t back away now for anything in the world.

“There was no list,” Jensen says. “But if there had been, the first thing on what would have been a very, very long list, is me fucking that pretty, pretty ass of yours.”

“Yeah,” Jared says. “Let’s do that.”

“Get on the bed,’ Jensen orders and Jared scrambles to do just that. Jensen opens a drawer in his dresser and tosses a bottle of lube at Jared, which Jared—to his relief—catches. “Do you have a problem with going bare? There’s been no one since Gregory and I’ve been tested twice since we broke up.”

“I test regularly too,” Jared responds. “And I want so much to feel you, all of you.”

Jared opens the bottle and slicks his fingers. He plans to spend as little time as possible prepping. He wants to feel Jensen, wants to feel him tomorrow too, and the day after that if possible. Jensen crawls onto the bed and turns Jared’s head, kissing him with those perfect sinful lips as Jared quickly stretches his hole.

By the time Jared’s ready, Jensen is practically on top of him. Jared grabs Jensen’s ass and pulls Jensen completely on top of them, their cocks rubbing together as he pulls Jensen up and then back down, just to feel the delicious friction.

Jensen groans into the kiss, apparently not minding a bit of manhandling. Jared saves that tidbit in the back of his mind for later–right now his hole is aching, and he needs Jensen inside of him.

He sinks his fingers in Jensen’s ass and wraps his long legs around Jensen’s and then flips them so that Jensen is underneath him. Jensen gives a startled laugh and then keeps on kissing Jared like he’s starving for Jared’s lips and Jared feels exactly the same way. Jared blindly reaches for the lube and finally grabs ahold of it. He pours some on his palm, some probably ending up on the bed covers because he’s too far lost in the taste and feel of Jensen to pay much attention to what his hand is doing, and then reaches between them and coats Jensen’s cock with lube.

Jared pulls away from Jensen, sitting up on Jensen’s crotch. He can feel Jensen’s hard cock pressing on the back of his ass. “You might want to hold on to something,” Jared says. “it’s going to be a bumpy ride.”

Jensen grabs onto Jared’s hips. He’s lying on the bed, his cheeks pink, his lips kissed-swollen, looking like sin personified. “Just the way I like it.”

It’s been quite a while for Jared, even longer since he’s bottomed, but he can feel his hole clenching, desperate for Jensen’s cock to fill it. He lifts up on his knees and reaches behind himself, guiding Jensen’s cock to his ass.

Sliding down on Jensen’s thick cock feels so fucking good that Jared almost comes just from that. His ass feels almost too full, like it’s being crammed to overflowing, but he doesn’t stop until his ass is resting on Jensen’s balls. They both groan.

Jared doesn’t take the time to get used to the feeling of too-much, he’s desperate for more and he’s going to take what he needs from Jensen. He starts riding Jensen as hard and as fast as he can make his body go, slamming down so hard on Jensen’s cock that the bed creaks dangerously each time. Jensen is no passive lover to Jared’s great delight. He grips Jared’s hip bones so tightly that he’s bound to leave bruises, and uses those perfect thick thighs of his to shove his dick into Jared every time Jared pushes down. The air is heavy with the scent of their lovemaking, they are both cursing and groaning, and Jared’s cock is coating his thighs and Jensen’s stomach with precome.

Jared wants to come, wants to come with a desperation that is threatening to undo him, but he also wants this to last. Wants to find a way to shove Jensen’s cock even deeper inside of him, wants to watch Jensen fall apart beneath him, wants to keep this ride going until they are both exhausted, sweaty, spent.

“Gonna come for me?” Jensen asks as he shoves his cock into Jared’s ass and then holds on to Jared’s hips so tightly Jared can’t move. Jared groans-whines and wiggles, causing Jensen’s cock to move in deliciously devilish ways inside of him.

Jensen lifts his head, a gleam in his eyes that has Jared on the edge of coming, and then grabs Jared’s cock, stroking him roughly, and that’s it—

The orgasm explodes out of Jared, his cock spilling hot and heavy. Jared’s come shoots far enough to streak Jensen’s cheeks and his lips, and at the sight of Jensen’s come-spattered face, Jared’s cock spasms again. Jensen’s fingers tighten on his hips even more, to the point of pain, but Jared barely registers that through the haze of his orgasm. Then Jensen’s cock twitches inside of Jared and Jared can feel his hole filling up with Jensen’s come. Somehow, even though he should be wrung dry by now, Jared’s cock spills some more.

Jared has just enough presence of mind to pull off Jensen’s cock and collapse beside him instead of on top of him. Crushing Jensen or Jensen’s beautiful cock would definitely not be in his best interest right now.

Jensen curls up next to Jared and kisses him, sharing some of Jared’s come with him as he does so.

They kiss through the aftershocks, kiss even after their come cools and Jared feels sticky all over. Jared could kiss Jensen forever and still want more.

“Are you free tomorrow?” Jensen asks, pulling away from Jared. “I don’t have to be at the bar until around three. I can have my assistant Chris open the bar and take care of things until then.”

“Tomorrow, um, Sunday. “Unless there’s an emergency at my cousin’s clinic or at Paws, I’m free. I will need to go by my house sometime in the morning to take care of my pets.”

“I’d like to spend the day with you if you’re okay with that. At least until it’s time for me to go to Jay’s Place.” Jensen leaves a row of kisses over Jared’s shoulders. Jared thinks it’s unfair that Jensen is asking Jared to think when every place Jensen’s lips touch burns with pleasure.

“I’d like that very much,” Jared says.

“Great.” Jensen sits up. “I don’t know about you, but I could use a shower. Then maybe we can order some food and then we can get started on that list.”

Jared sits up too. “I thought there wasn’t a list.”

Jensen is grinning big as he leans over to kiss Jared. “Not yet there isn’t, but we have all night to make one.”

Two years later, the list, torn in places, smudged in others, written over, marked out, added to, is taken with them on their honeymoon, where they mark off items fifty, sixty-two, and eighty-three.
